Phar Lap is indeed an iconic Australian horse, but he's from quite a while ago, so there's limited content available on him. Still, I agree that any list of Australian horses feels incomplete without mentioning him. Thanks for bringing him up!
Black Caviar was better than Winx. She was more consistent over her whole career and only ever looked like possibly losing twice in her career, and she was injured in both of those races. Winx an absolute world class superstar no doubt, but Black Caviar was a fair bit mote more invincible.
But too niche. Sprinters have never quite grabbed the imagination the way middle-distance horses do. That's why the really big races are run over 2000-2400m.
