I alternate between both methods. Sometimes I move the finger sometimes I keep it up straight. So we uphold the Sunnah and not lose it. At this point I feel both methods have their proofs so I uphold both.
May Allah guide us to the truth.

Allah knows best what Albani knew and what is true. I used to get in these debates but most people are just looking for arguements and disagreements. Personally, I look to the real Salaf for my answers, according to what knowledge has been conveyed to us. In addition to that, I know that one who is not trained and learned directly from a legitimate alam can very easily misinterpret what is said in any book and therefore practice incorrectly. This can also open the door to misleading others as well. According to Umdat al-Salik (Reliance of the Traveler), which is a very thorough book related to Shafii fiqh and their teachings, Imam Bayhaqi and Imam Dawud discussed this matter and initially it was thought that there was a disagreement. That is until the movement of the finger mentioned in hadith was explained to be moving from a position of laying flat with the other fingers on top of the thigh to the position of pointing up. The moving of the finger did not mean wagging, wiggling, e.t.c. Since this info is much older and closer to the source, comes from orthodox Salafs and is more commonly accepted as the correct understanding and methodology, then this is what I follow. I question anyone who comes along hundreds of years later; be they a shaykh or kalif. In addition to all that, the scholars say kushu should be sought at all times during salat and this means refraining from excessive, unnecessary movements. Wa Allahu alam.

Moving the finger is the relied-upon position of the Mālikī madhhab based upon the actions of the people of al-Madīnah. Therefore, to say that this action has no basis in the Sunnah is incorrect. And we respect those scholars, in their ijtihād, which weakened this action. We do not denounce anyone who differ with us in issues of ijtihād. As as been clarified, their is no fanaticism for anyone other than the Prophet ﷺ. However, the action of moving the finger has been narrated with an authentic chain and was the widespread practice of the people of al-Madīnah which al-Imām Mālik inherited. And Allāh knows best.

@@Alex21441 I can't necessarily produce that he explicitly said verbatim that the Sheikh Al Albani said " the Ummah has been incorrect". However the Mathhab that I follow (Hanifa) i was taught a certain interpretation of taqleed ( strict adherence) to my school of thought not " blind following", what im saying is that his grading of Hadith was deplorable and he uprooted the practices of the Ummah due to his classification of Hadith and producing a following, for example the 8 rakats taraweeh Salah bida, saying that the companions of the Prophet was wrong in performing this Salah and was wrong in practicing it, the Fajr Adan claim that it was a bida by saying as salatu khairum minan noum, the benefits of reciting the last 3 ayats of Al Hasr, praising Ibn tammiyah bida interpretation of sifat and adding false attributes similar to humans in his works even though Ibn tammiyah retracted all his claims and statements before his death. Etc So if these were to be followed and believed then he would uprooted all the firm practices of our Ummah since it's inception. Scholars also accuse him of abandoning taqleed to the 4 rightly guided mathhabs and instead uprooting them by trying to discredit them and undermine and question their authenticity. He also classified originally weak Hadith that were only accepted by the Shia boasting the Shia claim of imammah even though the ijma (consensus) of the entire Ummah was that they were weak and the list goes on. If he is right certain practices are considered wrong so how is that not fitnah!? I'm not a scholar but our scholars of the true Ulama-e-Haqq are warning us of the discord being sewn by this rouge salafi sect! And it has cause more problems than benefit the deen in these times! Now modern westernized Muslims are jumping on his bandwagon introducing bida in the religion and are disrespecting our Golden sihah sitta ( 6 sahih books)!!

People of Hadith have always been criticised so has been sheikh. We need to follow him in as muhadish and he has established it. Even imam Bukhari rahimaulla was not spared at his time. There are numerous ahadith which indicate to raising the index finger in tashahud as an act of sunnah.
Saaiduna Abdullah Ibn Umar Radiallahu Anhu said “When the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam sat for tashahud, he placed his left hand on his left knee and placed his right hand on his right knee, and he formed a ring like, and pointed with his finger at ‘La Ilaha’ ”. (Sahih Muslim)
Saaiduna Waail Ibn Hujr Radiallahu Anhu narrates that he saw the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam when he sat in prayer spread out left foot and placed his hands on his thighs and pointed with his index finger making supplication in this way. (Sunan Nasai p.187v.1)
Hazrat Moulana Muhammed Zakariya (RA) has given an overview of the four Schools of Thought with regards to whether the index finger should be raised and moved continuousy or not. Imam Abu Hanifah (RA), Imam Shafi (RA) and Imam Ahmed Hanbal (RA) are of the view that the finger should not be moved continuously in tashahud.
The most common view in the Maliki Fiqh is of moving the finger, however Ibn Qasim and Ibn Arabi oppose this view. (Awjazul Masalik p.117 v.2)
Imam Nawawi (RA) has said that the movement of the finger in Salah is Makruh. (Al Majmu p.454 v.3)
Ibn Qudamah has also said that the index finger should not be moved in the tashahud. (Mughni p.99 v.2)
The view of Imam Abu Hanifah (RA), Imam Shafi (RA) and Imam Ahmaed Hanbal (RA) is established through the hadith narrated by Saaiduna Abdullah Ibn Zubair Radiallahu Anhu that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam would point with his finger when he prayed and he would not move it. Salaamu alaikum: questioner asks "What's wrong with the hadeeth in Shaikh Al Albanis book" ... Preface: It's generally understood by people of Sunnah that no scholar is infallible and all have made mistakes from the past and present and Imam Al Albani is no different. With that being said, it's quite unfortunate for us that no clarity came from this video other than some of Al Albanis students are fanatical in their love for him. That still doesn't leave us with a clear answer as to what's wrong with the position the shaikh took as the discussion suggests there's a problem with how he came to his conclusion regarding it. If that's not the case, then what's the real point of the video? Simply saying that scholars differed doesn't exactly prove that a mistake was made. It appears to me that some viewers who will watch this particular video will not find the answer they sought upon watching it. For example, Is there a stronger opinion that should be referred back too or a majority view? Or do we simply leave it at there's a difference of opinion amongst the scholars regarding the issue? If the latter is correct, it's just a difference of opinion why not just say that and continue to the next question? 18 secs max.

Explain the both sides, the fiqh etc. But don't put the Shaykhs Students down. Anyone who claims to be Salafi would never say that , but differ with beautiful manners

@@Anonymous-yh4ho So you believe Al Abani and his claims that the companions of the Prophet practiced the religion the wrong way or that we as a ummah have been practicing the religion incorrectly for 1400 years until he came along to correct us!? What authority does he has!? He said taraweeh Salah is only 8 rakats instead of 20!!!! Which is the same practice from the Prophet and his companions since the inception of Islam! Al Albani was no sheikh he was a deviate if you ask me, i was taught to believe in the Quran and Sahih Hadith not disbelieve it and then dedicate my entire life undermining it as if we as a Muslims Ummah had it all wrong even the companions of the Prophet for 1400 years until he came along!! He really started his own mathhab and created a movement of moderate Muslims that bent on destroying the foundation of Islam (sihah sitta)!!!

Thank you Mufti.. Albani is NOT from the Salaf. He made huge errors and he was from the Mujesima. When he was aproached by the Ulima he couldnt recite 10 Hadith from memory. Also he was expelled from Medinan how impurities are removed from Iron.
Plus he left Ahlul Sunnah when he abandoned the Madhab. Who would follow a layman like Albani wrather than following the great imams of the Salaf ?

Mr Fake Beast since when are the maddhabs of Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i and Hanbali anything to do with the Sufi? They are schools of jurisprudence that came about after the works of the 4 imams who were among the Tabi’un and Tābi‘ al-Tābi‘in. I’m guessing you have not studied this as you sound ignorant on the issue.
