- In this video I show you how to remove a collar from a regular collared shirt and convert the collar band to a clergy collar. Clerical shirts can be expensive and the quality is usually not as nice as a regular dress shirt. With this tutorial you can have a high quality clerical shirt at a much better price. Plus you can have a greater variety of shirts by doing this yourself.
This tutorial is for a band collar and here is a great instructional video on how to use a band collar: • Putting on a band collar

Thank you so much for this, your tutorial is really helpful, clear and easy to follow 💙
So glad to see you are back! Thank you for this great tutorial!
Oh good! I hope you find it useful!
Thank you. This is just what I am looking for
You are welcome! I hope you get lots of use out of it! Jona
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. One question: Is there a purpose of the buttonhole at the center back of the collar or is it just for style? Thanks again!
I didn't know either! Turns out the collar has a button in the back so it can stay in place and not shift side to side. That's what the button hole is for. Let me know if you use the tutorial! :)
The button in the back is to hold the white clergy insert in place.
I want to make a tab collar shirt, so I would need to add pockets behind the collar to slip in the tab, I can't see my husband wearing the full roman collar your pattern is designed for, he is to be ordained a deacon in November so I am trying to get shirts and stoles ready for that event.
gonna be a priest for holloween
Awesome. One year my neighbor was the pope and it was fantastic. Have fun!
Love it
Is the glue an absolute requirement or should the top stitching hold the layers together?
Sorry for the late reply (I think I need to set up a notification bell or something). The glue is just to hold it temporarily before stitching. I find it makes my stitches a lot more accurate than just pins and it washes out. It's not absolutely required but consider trying it and see what you think. :)
Too complicated
Yes it it. And time consuming. May as well save the time and effort and buy the darn ready made collar shirt.
@@MYZTICTRAVLER They're not expensive either.
@@kevinmorgan8534where are you buying those then
Not complicated at all
