I love the simple approach to things back in the old days of baseball. Especially the player introductions. No over the top graphics, no music playing, just the PA announcer calling out their names. And then PLAY BALL!
@@caveman3096 - I love it. It was so pure and simple back then. Each player got an introduction pregame, and that’s it. No irritating walk up music. Just the standard ballpark sounds and cheers.
I didn't know that Aurelio Rodriguez (RIP) and Salomé Barojas were with the White Sox in 1983. They were Mexican icons in the LMB ( Mexican baseball League) and LMP ( Mexican Pacific League)... Two great legends..
Shame on the Chicagoan who posted this (the station identification break during the game clearly says "WMAQ Channel 5 Chicago." so it must have come from a Chicagoan) for not posting ALL of the top of the 9th inning. The video cuts out several pitches before the end of the game.
Why did "Chicken" Willie Thompson the Sox equip guy get such a hand? His was louder than the O's guy. Now, the 'rest' of post-season teams are never introduced on TV, gotta get those ad's in. As good as Kubek was (dragging along Costas) , these two aren't the Vin & Joe show.
I'm from Baltimore and remember this well. Kubek and Costas did several Oriole games in '83. Joe and Vin really only did Yankee, Mets, Reds, Dodgers, N.L. games and Rare Red Sox in Fenway Park games. I don't recall them ever doing a Oriole game, yet alone in Baltimore. This was Scullys first season at The Peacock and I figured the only way my Birds would get the Joe and Vin treatment is get to the World Series in the even years when NBC had it which didn't happen.

Right. In 83, there was no video board. All crowd noise was naturally generated.
