First Sikh came to Fiji in 1928 Sardar Tara Singh Bilan, my great grandfather and Sardar Gulzara Singh Bilan landed in Suva then reside in Tavua from Rasulpur, Jalandar Town Punjab.

As per K L Gillion records, a few Sikhs arrived in the fiji under the indenture system, but after 1902, they mostly came as a free immigrant . Many of them were ex soldiers, policemen, farmers.. but do share any photos or documents if you have any by emailing [e-mail]

Sikhs from Fiji are better than from Punjab. I have lived with them and prefer people from Fiji even if they are Hindu, Sikh, Muslims, native Fijian over people from India regardless who they are.
