  • Want to buy a telescope? I give you 5 good reasons to choose a 12" DOBSONIAN Telescope. A good choice for beginners or experienced astronomers that want to get aperture to get better visual observations or nice EAA / Astrophotography when using with an Equatorial Platform. This was my first Dobsonian Telescope.

    I am thinking about building a 12" f5 Dob and am wondering ***what your 12" focal ratio is? *** Your tube looks long so I assume yours is a slow scope. My biggest concern is being able to move it so thinking about a truss design. I currently have both a 6" f6 Dob and an 80mm f7 refractor on a GEM. The refractor will get more use since it is easier to move since I have to go to remote sites to avoid light pollution in our city.

      Mine is fast, f/5, but i usually work at f/3.75 because i use a starizona nexus with it. Yes, it's a telescope to use always in the same location, not to travel for sure

    i am from india, at my location the latitude of pole star is 22°. i could not find any eq platform for this latitude. the geooptik platform can go down to 30°. Can the geooptik platform be setup in anyway for 22°?

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower  Год назад

      10º is too much. Usually a 5º difference is not so important, we adjust the altitude. I would say it could be used at 32º with adjustments only at the legs but i'm not 100% sure about it.

    Hello, I was considering getting the Sky-Watcher 12" Flextube SynScan GoTo Collapsible Dobsonian. Any thoughts on collapsible telescope vs a solid tube?

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower  Год назад +1

      Go for it. Has tracking and you can move the sliders if you need backfocus. Solid are good but heavier.

      @@DobsonianPower thank you very much for sharing your thoughts! In this video you showed the Geoptik Eartha Dobson Platform Variable Lattitude. It looks like it is the same platform that you reviewed in your video entitled “Strong EQ PLATFORM Geoptik Eartha Full Review.” Very good video by the way! Can this platform be connected with a Goto 12” Dobsonian for automatic tracking?

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower  Год назад +1

      @Tech World you can use a goto over the eq platform however it will mess a bit with the goto because the telescope will not be always parallel to the floor. Usually the goto has tracking. Are you talking about a push-to maybe?

    • @jlcop
      @jlcop Год назад +2

      I have the non-go to Sky-Watcher 12" Flextube and have been very happy with it. I have had no issues with the collapsible tube. I collimate with a Cheshire whenever I drive it to a dark sky location especially if the road was rough. However, I am frequently surprised how well it holds collimation.

    • @techworld8961
      @techworld8961 Год назад

      @@DobsonianPower No. I meant the Goto. But you explained. I am very new to the hobby. So, I did not know how well tracking is on a dob. I guess I should go with a Goto dob.

    Vim parar a um canal de um astrónomo português, sem querer. 😁 Fiquei muito contente por conhecer o seu canal e já me subscrevi. Ando a pensar adquirir um telescópio Dobson de 12'' mas sinceramente, tenho medo do peso e do tamanho do mesmo, espacialmente porque teria que criar uma maneira segura e prática de o transportar no meu pequeno carro. Já vi que transporta o seu usando fitas à volta do tubo. Gostaria de poder experimentar algures em 1a ou 2a mão o manuseamento de uma coisa desse tamanho e fragilidade.

    • @DobsonianPower

      @@DobsonianPower pois, esse de 6'' é bastante mais transportável, mas claro, a quantidade de luz captada vai ser menor. Tenho que pensar muito bem no que vou fazer. 😉
