Thank you David. I for one cannot get enough of your videos, they are such a wonderful opportunity for relaxation visiting the lovely English countryside.
Don't know why I keep watching your vlogs (I am enjoying them) I don't own a boat or live near a river but I do find myself following your trip on Google maps while I'm watching. Keep up the good work.
I have become addicted to this vlog. No where near water, I have moved onto canal time. Things to do, a retaining wall to rebuild, a cooker to install (but some cabinetary required first) or watch another vlog. Another coffee and a bikkie.
Alan and Wendy are a lovely couple and very generous with their time to help other boaters, the pace of canal time seems to attract decent people. Beautiful trip I am looking forward to more.
My name's never been secret - it says it on my website, my About page on RUclips ... I prefer to keep the boat name under wraps to maintain some privacy on the cut.
Jealous that you have such a beautiful way to live. Nothing like that in the U.S. I will say that I get excited when you post a new VLOG. Thanks so much for sharing this all with u
Thank you for making and sharing these wonderful vlogs. Yours are THE BEST narrowboat vlogs on RUclips, full stop. Love the great camerawork, clever commentary, the tips and tricks and of course the delicious feeling of being along for the ride. Just gorgeous, thank you!!!
Hi David.....having found your channel I've spent the last 3 weeks watching from 1 - 90, fabulous....looking forward now to new ones as they appear...have fun on your travels..
Hi David, thanks for this most enjoyable vlog, it's (almost) all very peaceful and quiet. The only thing (probably only due to being a retired bargee) was at the very start when you said when you were leaving that there were going to be a few locks further down, but in reality it was a few locks further up, but nothing important or that needs worrying about.
I absolutely love watching your vids, but I kept trying to think what they reminded me of. Then it hit me. Thomas the Tank Train cartoons. My son used to watch those quite often.
Great vlog. I couldn't close the gate on Aston lock, it was so heavy that Dean had to climb up the ladder and had to use all his strength to help me. Dallow Lane Lock seemed tiny after the wide ones!
Once again a great vlog, and thanks for taking us along on a facinating trip. Makes you wonder, though, what's more scary, tidal rivers with weirs, or canal locks with sills like high rise appartmnt blocks!? But David, buying potatos and tomatos, you're not going to actually cook are you? Remember, you have a reputation to maintain. Cheers, and good luck with the continuing trip.
Thank you once again for a wonderful insight into your life on the canal, please keep them coming, they are very much appreciated. Do you have something extra special planned for episode 💯?
Love your vlogs. Watching in Port Augusta South Australia where we have just experienced a temperature of 49.5 C, so when you speak of rain my mind wanders to how it feels to get rained on. You see we are somewhat rain deorived here.
Hello again. just to say that I'm especially enjoying your videos at the moment, even more than usual. Maybe it's the sunny weather, maybe it's the increased frequency of touring videos, who knows? Whatever the reason, my favourite series of vlogs just started getting even better.
You mentioned in a previous video that you haven’t seen a Scottish Terrier in quite some time ... I believe that’s one at 8:44. We own two so I’m keen about picking them out!
It's funny that you remark on the large estates on the canals, and how you'd like to own such a thing - but you have the best way of life, the best "house" attainable, on and IN the canal. Living like that, I'd never ever want to be landlocked again.
I enjoyed the ride today. It has been cool here in Texas also. Rain and storms this Spring. Seven tornadoes touched down 50 miles from us and started coming our way. They turned and went further north of us. They did a lot of damage to our neighbors in Van Zandt County.
Silt, silt and more silt! Found myself in similar circumstances, yet again, the other day on a busy and well used stretch of the GU but in a quiet spot (like you...preferred). Is this how CRT are going to get rid of responsible CC,ers? Leave us unable to get within three feet of the bank to expire midstream for lack of sustenance, or have they forgotten what a dredger actually does! Your vlog remains a 'go to' piece of gentle evening entertainment. Many thanks.
While that is undoubtedly true I fear for the little used parts of the system. Is there an increasing danger of us losing what was so hard fought for by Rolt et al? CRT are so far behind status holding I wonder. We shall see. Take care and enjoy.
The many, many volunteer and restoration groups won't let that happen, I think. Let us not turn this into any CRT bashing, they get enough of that elsewhere! Cheers.
You're right of course. Like every other service they're short of resources. I'm warm and dry with a lovely view despite the rain, batteries charged and the kettle on. Have a great day.
90 episodes in and the blogs just keep going from strength to strength :) Any plans to add any extra content to the vlogs? I'm more than happy just CruisingTheCut with you of corse. It'd be great to see some of the sights, attractions and pubs you might visit along the way, informative as well. A map tracking your progress would be nice to follow and might add to the grandeur of your adventure. As a reporter, I'm sure you have considered these ideas and many more. Your show is pure gold, I'm just greedy for more! I'm crossing my fingers in the hope that you'll travel up to Skipton on the Leeds to Liverpool canal. However, having just rewatched Vlog 75 I have realised this isn't on the cards for 2017. maybe next year :) Thanks again for all the great content. Good luck & have fun!
Hi, thanks. No extra content; merely producing these is quite enough effort! People can google the locations, I reckon, and I don't want to do local tourism stuff. Strictly boats :-)
Noticed toward the end: a pair of what appeared to be Canada geese. That means that they're reproducing! LOL. Seriously, though, despite the presence of one of our most hated exports, I continue to rnjoy the vlog and, of course, your punny episode titles.
Hello David. Hope you are well. Snow!?!? Aaack! That would be a real tragedy in May and certainly would make me a bit more than grumpy. A little rain would be nice to fill those canal passages that appear a little more than puddles at some points. Back to flying solo a little adjustment? Happy trails!
Quality videos you make I am trying to watch all of them. You would’ve passed a few more power stations in this region a few years back.. Castle Donington and Drakelow have been demolished after their closure.
I think that largely depends what you want from a marina. If shops, caravans, brokerage, tourists etc are your bag then Mercia may well fit the bill. Other people prefer a quieter spot or other locations.
The evil face created by those lock gates 0:53 just fabulous ❤
I am totally hooked on your vlogs David. They are very relaxing and very well produced.
Thank you
Thank you David. I for one cannot get enough of your videos, they are such a wonderful opportunity for relaxation visiting the lovely English countryside.
Thank you.
Thanks, David! You are always a bright spot in my day! A welcome relief!
Your 'baa' was impeccable. Those cows were gorgeous. And another power station! Wonderful video
Thank you. More power stations soon!
Yay 😊 I knew there was a reason you're my favourite
Snow....eoweeee...Looks sure are deceiving. Beauty every place you look..
Thank you for the lovely Mersey feast. I can now go about my day!
:-)
"I'm going to need a bigger lottery" I felt that on a spiritual level
Alan and Wendy are a lovely couple and very generous with their time to help other boaters, the pace of canal time seems to attract decent people. Beautiful trip I am looking forward to more.
Great videos as always.... that's me watched them all.... eagerly awaiting the next release 👍🏻
It will be along in the fullness of time ;-)
Best vlog on the net. Thanks David.
Very kind, thank you
Thumbs up! Our evening started with your vlog and a few minutes on the cut. Thank you for sharing your travels. Maggie & Dave, Vermont, US
Cheers, both!
Another lovely vlog David. Nice to see more of the T&M that Dulcie and I know well. Keep 'em coming! :)
LOADS more coming :-)
Ha, now not only do we know his age - we now know his name! Blimey, we might find out the name of his boat one day...
I'm glad you enjoy them, thanks for tuning in :-)

That's very kind, thank you. I'm very pleased you enjoy them :-)
Another delightful vlog, great scenary and beautiful days. Thanks for posting that!
Cheers Doug
Beautiful vlog today. Lots and lots of editing perfection.
Thank you!
I like the fact I see so many John Deere tractors!
Hi David.....having found your channel I've spent the last 3 weeks watching from 1 - 90, fabulous....looking forward now to new ones as they appear...have fun on your travels..
That's a lot of viewing!! I appreciate it. More soon!
Looking forward to them...:-)
I do love watching you mosey along.
Thanks for having me along, once again, even from the Antipodes. Still no cameo from that yellow thingy.
Not while I'm boating, no!
Great video. Love the quiet canal ride . Thanks
Cheers
It looked lovely and hopefully it will warm up soon. Thanks for another great video.
It did warm up but now it's gone really rainy again :-(
Hi David, thanks for this most enjoyable vlog, it's (almost) all very peaceful and quiet. The only thing (probably only due to being a retired bargee) was at the very start when you said when you were leaving that there were going to be a few locks further down, but in reality it was a few locks further up, but nothing important or that needs worrying about.
Thanks for watching.
Another excellent video and we get a nice mention too!
:-)
Cheers, another great video. Thank you.
Again, a brilliant video. I am probably green with envy now, such a trip would do me wonders now.
Everyone should try a bit of canal boating :-)
great vlog as always.
Ta
Great video again David. . You do seem to be really chilled of late.. Enjoying your way of life brings down my stress level's also. Thanks..
I'm pleased it helps you chill too!
Another great video as always. I'm sure it was nice to Cruz the cut with your friends. Cheers from London Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 can't wait the next vlog
It was great having company, yes. Cheers
Another great vlog 👍
Ta
Never a dull moment I see. Love the high tech on the lock gate. No Heron. So sad am I😢. Lots of dogs on the tow path = lots of poo.🤭👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🥂
very good. its nice to ride along.
Thanks
I'm really enjoying these vlogs 🎀
Good! Thank you
i grew up and lived in weston for many years. spent most of my childhood and teenage years helping boaters out on the locks.
I love your videos. thanks for sharing them.
Thanks for watching :-)
I absolutely love watching your vids, but I kept trying to think what they reminded me of. Then it hit me. Thomas the Tank Train cartoons. My son used to watch those quite often.
What an odd comparison but I'll take the compliment!!! :-)
More beautiful English countryside. Thank you David
Cheers, oh a little snow here today in Thompson MB. Last of the spring, we hope.
Ta
Hope it melts for you soon :-)
We had the same problem at the weekend with our weed hatch but with vegetation... We even gave you a little shout out 😂
Terrific! Thank you :-)
The pretty church of St. Mary the Virgin is in the Parish of Weston on Trent.
Enjoying your vlogs immensely!
Thank you!
Wonderful vlog David thank you
Cheers
You don't know just how much I enjoy your videos, they are so well done and relaxing, thank you sir'
Cheers!
very relaxing. thank u very nicely done.
Thank you
Good Vlog David :-) Always good to hear and see where you are on your travels mate :-)
:-)
All work and no play! Cheerio.
Great to watch I think i'm going twice around your vlog set, but who cares, they are so relaxing to watch. Cheers from Melbourne , Australia.
What a beautiful day
Another great vlog thanks 😊
Ta
Very enjoyable. Thank you.
Ta
Really enjoyed this vlog. We are cruising for the first time in June and collecting our hire boat from Mercia Marina.
Hope you have a great time! Take it slow....
Great vlog. I couldn't close the gate on Aston lock, it was so heavy that Dean had to climb up the ladder and had to use all his strength to help me. Dallow Lane Lock seemed tiny after the wide ones!
I seem to recall we had help from other boaters at Aston so I just stood at the back and let it all happen around me :-)
massive looking locks on this leg...a bit scarey 😨 glad to see you've not had any major problems ...so far👍
Still here, chugging along!
Ha! No, tomato for lunchtime sarnies, potatoes I do boil up for supper. Tidal rivers are the scariest.
Great episode thanks David. 😃👏👏👏👏👏
very good really enjoyed that
Thank you
Thank you once again for a wonderful insight into your life on the canal, please keep them coming, they are very much appreciated.
Do you have something extra special planned for episode 💯?
Not really!! Besides, with a couple of bonus episodes and one that only stayed up for three days, there is no clear 100th vlog anyway...
Brilliant as usual, at one point I also thought those were the same power stations again +1 like
:-) Much appreciated
Hi David interesting section of the net work great vlog.
Cheers
Quite a nice day's journey. Thanks for taking us along.
Cheers
Very much enjoyed, nice 1 cruising the cut...
Ta
Love these vlogs. If I ever hit the lottery..........
The familiar refrain!
Another lovely video. Fantastic weather too. I spotted some killer cows, you be careful out there! Tonights euro millions is a big one by the way :-)
You know all about those killer cows! And yes, I got my ticket earlier today :-)
Yet again another great video, I'm even early this Vlog 😆 Keep on cruising and the great work.
Cheers Tom
that section of the trent and mersey looks nice.
It was lovely.
Great stuff.
Ta
great vlog, thanks
:-)
Love your vlogs. Watching in Port Augusta South Australia where we have just experienced a temperature of 49.5 C, so when you speak of rain my mind wanders to how it feels to get rained on. You see we are somewhat rain deorived here.
Another crackin' vlog, thank you.
Cheers Wendy. Pat the dogs for me, would you? :-)
lovely jubbley CTC thank you!
Cheers
What locks! Thank you so much for this trip video - though all of them are totally fascinating, when it's somewhere familiar, it is extra interesting.
I agree, I like watching other narrowboaters vlogs when they go to places I've been!
Another lovely video! Close call with those vicious cows. Watch yourself out there.
Just escaped them in the nick of time.
It looks like the Crt guys like to compete against postman when it comes to wearing shorts when its chilly. Beautiful scenery thanks David.
Haha, you could be right.
Hello again. just to say that I'm especially enjoying your videos at the moment, even more than usual. Maybe it's the sunny weather, maybe it's the increased frequency of touring videos, who knows? Whatever the reason, my favourite series of vlogs just started getting even better.
The sunny weather certainly helps!!
tell ya wot David ya can rely on good vlog from ya. Keep em coming!
Ta muchly
nicely done
Thanks
A super video David. Thank you. The T&M is one of my favourite canals. Massive locks though. The information you give during your videos is wonderful.
what a great life for dogs
They love it!
"I'm gonna need a bigger lottery!", ha, ha, good one! At least there are no sharks in the canals to worry about 🙂
Nice to see Chellaston (Swarkestone) there, spent many an hour there. I only live about 100m away
I love HO scale trains.. my dad worked for New York Central..I got to ride with him a few times
Great vlog thank you 😊
Thanks for watching!
You mentioned in a previous video that you haven’t seen a Scottish Terrier in quite some time ... I believe that’s one at 8:44. We own two so I’m keen about picking them out!
Yes...I saw that..I own a Cairn Terrier.. toto..
I thought it looked big for a Cairn
It's funny that you remark on the large estates on the canals, and how you'd like to own such a thing - but you have the best way of life, the best "house" attainable, on and IN the canal.
Living like that, I'd never ever want to be landlocked again.

We don't really get those here so I can only imagine how unpleasant they are. Hope it all calms down for you soon.
Very nice.
:-)
Silt, silt and more silt! Found myself in similar circumstances, yet again, the other day on a busy and well used stretch of the GU but in a quiet spot (like you...preferred). It's immensely frustrating but to be fair, trying to dredge over 2,000 miles of canal on top of all the other maintenance must be very difficult.
While that is undoubtedly true I fear for the little used parts of the system. Is there an increasing danger of us losing what was so hard fought for by Rolt et al? CRT are so far behind status holding I wonder. We shall see. Take care and enjoy.

You're right of course. Like every other service they're short of resources. I'm warm and dry with a lovely view despite the rain, batteries charged and the kettle on. Have a great day.
You're doing better than me, I've just done three hours of drizzly cruising :-(
The countryside in England is so beautiful. I would love to do the canals and see it up close & personal. Maybe some day.
Great episode ! Love the fields of yellow flowers, I believe this may be Canola, use to make Canola oil.
It's rapeseed but I presume you're in the US?
Yes In New jersey, from what I read it was also called rapeseed in the states but was change to Canola for better market name.
It's a better name, sure :-)
great update thanks for sharing! I dread to think that anyone would be silly enough to bath in a lock..
On a hot day, kids off school, what could look more tempting?
Glad you liked Swarkestone ,my home mooring, that is my boat 5.20 . Really enjoy your video's
Thank you

Haha; the tunnel, I'll tell you now, was surprisingly interesting but I hope it makes for a fun video :-)
2:00 the sarcasm was heavy I cracked up 🤭
i like your boat and when i grow up im going to live on a boat like that one you have
Thank you. I hope your dream comes true!
Noticed toward the end: a pair of what appeared to be Canada geese. That means that they're reproducing! LOL. Seriously, though, despite the presence of one of our most hated exports, I continue to rnjoy the vlog and, of course, your punny episode titles.

It didn't snow in the end. In fact we had some very nice weather which just shows how accurate weather forecasts are.
Yay, no snow! Weather forecasters are the only people who can fail so miserably and still keep their jobs.😂😂
4:18 your hair looks great you should style it that way every time :P reminds me of when the Doctor's hair is described as all modern and sticky uppy
Quality videos you make I am trying to watch all of them. You would’ve passed a few more power stations in this region a few years back.. Castle Donington and Drakelow have been demolished after their closure.
Interesting vidio Mercia marina is a place I would want to moor my narrowboat when I get it as it appears one of the best marinas
I think that largely depends what you want from a marina. If shops, caravans, brokerage, tourists etc are your bag then Mercia may well fit the bill. Other people prefer a quieter spot or other locations.
