Never knew Rick!!! This was a fun one ☝️
When people first heard him they thought he was a Tall Black Guy from Chicago. In the 1980's most notably from 1983-1986 The Brits were next to Australia the hottest music import. This Song went to Number One and the folks who wrote it were Matthew Stock, Scott Aitken, and Pete Waterman who is now a Legend on The UK Music Scene, Simon Cowell used to follow him around like a puppet wanting to get his foot in the door. Those Guys were the hottest Songwriting Team in the UK in the 1980's. They also worked with Dead Or Alive (You Spin Me Round) that Flo Rida later Sampled as well as Venus by Banarama who not only were the First Girlband from teh UK to go to Number One in the US kicked the door open for future UK Girlbands. They also wrote Say I'm You're Number One for Princess and in later Years Pete helped launch the Careers of Steps 1996-2001 and Girls Aloud on Popstars The Rivals in 2002.
You both been rickrolled!! haha
Your stooped
I am a Brazilian that I am subscribed to the channel and I will suggest some bands with very dancing songs. Search youtube, Modern Talking, Bad Boy Blues, Alphaville, Erause, R.E.M and Pet shop boys ...
You didn't know rick but you rick rolled yourself😂
This was a massive hit in the 80s. He had a string of number 1 hits. He is such a lovely guy. He is still recording music today.
And still has this incredible unique voice.
Means you got rick rolled?
This was in the 80is and was number 1 here in the UK and he still singing today
We knew how to rock in Britain back in the day
This is the source of music when you're getting Rick-rolled.
They rickrolled themselves :P.
This is the 80's song that blew everyone away. Everyone first heard this on the radio then when the video hit everyones jaw hit the floor!!!! I don't care what race, nationality, or creed you are, when you first saw the vid your jaw dropped!!!!! Instead of a big burly black man here was this skinny, geeky, white boy with the most amazing voice. Definitely a mind fu%#.
I haven't been Rick-Rolled in years 😆
This song is exactly why it was used in pretty much the first meme ever. No one ever thought the voice matched the guy. It's why Getting Rick-Rolled was so funny.
Need more Rick. “Together Forever”. That was his first big hit. Thx
@Xcuze it was the first song that people remember. I never heard of him till Together Forever
I agree that "Together Forever" is a good song
In the US, Never Gonna Give You Up was Rick's first big hit, Together Forever was his second.
@@athleticguy15 I think your right but Together Forever is my favorite
@@j20tower I like almost anything he has ever recorded.
You called it man!! The voice doesn’t even come close to what he looks like! Which is great.👍🤪
I remember when this came out and my mom heard it. She was head over heals for this song. I gotta admit, even us metal heads were impressed with his voice.
Don’t worry, everybody initially thinks this is a black man singing. Fun song. A classic
No they don't...lol
I am not sure I thought that, but I can definitely see that. I didn't really think that in the 80s, but he does sound soulful.
@@dieselcowboy777 A lot of people do, trust me. Especially back then where radio was very popular.
@@Perroxiide Yes they did
I don't
Remembering my teenager era the 80' best years for music
As a teenager in the 90s, I respectfully disagree.
You have been ric rolled
They've just been Rick Rolled ladies and gentlemen and they like it.🤣
Rick Astley is the classic example of why we should all be wary of stereotyping! I was totally stunned by seeing Rick after hearing the song ... he is a total Soul singer :)
Rick Astley still sings today. Still sounds phenomenal and he still have the sweet soulful suave moves!!
A very good way to put it
I love it when children discover older artists. That was entertaining.
Everyone thought he was black b4 we actually got to see him. That was the 80s, my friend, no autotune technology. Just pure talent.
Love seeing your guys grooving to some ‘80’s music. This is a fun dance song!
Yeah, it was a real surprise to us too at the time, when we saw the video to this song after you heard it on the radio. Just like Steve Perry, this guy sounds just as good live as well (STILL!). Seems to be a really great, well grounded guy that managed to get through the "fame" thing unscathed. Awesome to see that!
I think its so cool you guys are checking out all kinds of good tunes from different eras. Yous got great taste in music. All the best to yous and stay safe down there, cheers.
You and millions of other people had NO idea that voice belonged to him like this. You want a real awesome video to see, this guy starred on stage with the Foo Fighters. Really worth checking out, and yes, they DO perform this song.
It's not a racial slur to say somebody sounds black! It's a COMPLIMENT! Love you two! Great review!
Listening to this song and watching this music video for the first time is like losing your innocence to the happiest of beats.
Best of everything to you both! Born in 73, you have so much great music to discover! youtube just asked me to rate this video. I gave it an EXCELLENT!
It is really him singing. Watch his live performances too. He was about 20 when he did this in 1988, now he's in his 50's, and he's British. He still sings today. He has had such hits as: Together Forever, It Would Take A Strong Man, She Wants To Dance With Me, Hopelessly and Cry For Help, etc...
Check out these songs....Safety Dance, Too Shy, Come On Eileen and other 80’s fun songs please.....and some Culture Club...
Timex Social Club, Rumors
@@blakewestwood8096 just heard that about an hour ago....
girl after my own heart, safetey dance love it
Fun Fact you may have not known: Rick Astley was actually born in the Newton-le-Willows in the uk
Try Jonny Lang...He was 16 years old when he played and sang “Lie To Me”. You won’t be disappointed!
Tony
Indiana
Oh yes!! Lang is a MUST Listen!!
Never too late to love this beat!💜
You two are great together as a couple with a lot of music 🎶 videos and cool songs 🎵 in the mix
I was your age when this came out makes me really feel old ! Great seeing you enjoying it! Enjoy your youth it's the best time of your life!!
I had a walkman in the 80's and i blasted my rick astley tape cassete non stop.he's an amazing singer
Thank you for another great reaction video!❤
The two best smiles in the reaction business. Keep on keeping on.
Everyone was shocked when he popped up. Most were thinking..we didn't expect a red-head!! lol His voice is so beautiful. Check out Cry For Help for a different beat. Just as beautiful!
In an age of shrinking social mobility in the UK it's worth pointing out that Rick was essentially the tea boy or gofer at Stock Aitken & Waterman's studios - which operated a bubblegum pop production line in Britain, with some success abroad. His credibility, as a result, was nil from the outset. However, he has kept the voice and now he almost feels like a soul giant!
I feel sad for these two they got rickrolled.
Yeah😂.I was thinking the same
Good to see you guys again! Rick is AWESOME! His voice is really good.
Everyone has that reaction when he came out singing. The same reaction as with Michael mcdonald too
You two are perfect for doing reactions great job 😄
You wanna check out his recent stuff
He's matured brilliantly, & his songwriting is so much better, now he's in his 50's😁
I love the look on peoples faces when they see this is a little white dude with red hair. One minute you would be making fun of this guy somewhere and then after he sings he's leaving with your girl! LMAO
the whole idea of "rick-roll" never mattered to me, cuz it's just such a good fuckin song.
Imagine our surprise when this song came out back in the day !!! We were expecting a big black dude and its howdy doody...but its still a classic song even though some front like they don't like it
Love your reaction to this and SO glad you did this
love you guys nice reaction
Sooo smoooth how he opened his jacket and pointed to his heart real quick!
1987 hes first job was a tea boy working in a UK music company were there heard him singing and he was a star
You guys are just adorable!!
I was waiting for someone to catch that lil jacket flip when he said " your hearts been aching" at about 5:05. That was smooth! Your the first one to catch that from what i've seen 👏👏
Rick worked in recording studio as the tea runner n was heard singing on his own at night didn't know his boss was there even his boss thought he was list to black man sing till he seen it was his 17 year old tea boy and afore him a record deal ,,rickshaw in his late 50s now and still fantastic
Grew up in the 80' (hard times)and i liked this song but my peers were telling me its a gay song. So i just kept singing it myself😁😁😁... Still love this positive song. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 For reacting...
This is my favourite hobby this evening - watching black people's first facial expression when when Rick first opens his mouth 😅! Peace xx
Lol yeah you don't expect that voice to come out of that guy... Thanks for the video.
I been feeling this since it came out..another great era of my time
I hope I'm there the day you're walking through Target or wherever and this song comes on😂
Everyone reacts like that, when they see he's white and then hear the voice!
Rick was 21 when he sang this song 😁 it was number one in 25 Countries 😁 he sounds and looks amazing now 👍🏻😁🏴
Rick was deep into R&B and soul growing up so he learned to sing like them. :-)
I am from the UK Rick was the 80s legend
Back in1987, only 4 TV channels in the UK and MTV was new (and most people didn't have cable)... everyone just assumed he was black 😊.
Olivia looks so beautiful enjoying herself
one little known fact of Rick Astley is he was asked to go to America to be the next big thing. but on the way to the airport, he asked the driver to pull over and he got out saying he wanted to stay in England to be in his kid's lives. he gave it all up for them ( cool guy actually) singing again now and sounds just as good :)
Congratulations!
You’ve been Rick Rolled!
It’s a thing…
His full deep voice is shown off even better on "It Would Take a Strong Strong Man"
Didn't expect the voice from the face, but this was popular in the day
Would love to see more reactions.
I love your reactions
Y'all Rick Rolled yourselves 😁 I still love this song...
I feel it !
Most people who have heard this song for the first time and never saw the video would assume he's black. It's the same for the song "I can dream about you." Listen to Stacey Q's "Two of Hearts" from 1988.
I'm definitely feeling it
I loved your reactions when you heard his voice. 80s soul 🇬🇧
Rick is STILL a great guy. He is 54 now but looks barely 35.
what a fantastic pair
You've been Rick-Rolled!!!
