Just as a note for anyone looking to purchase this. The USB cable that comes with the camera angles up toward the top of the windshield. He mentions that the one he is using in the review was for another camera. That must be why it angles down. If you are looking to install this in a permanent way it will look much better angled up. The wire seems to be good quality. I stripped off the other end so I can wire it into my fuse box with a 12v5v adapter and it was a much better cable than came with my Yi dash cam .
Just purchased the Pro GPS version in Australia, very impressed with the video quality and overall operation. The GPS module was only a few dollars more so included that in the purchase not being aware that the only extra feature was the ADAS which is already a standard feature built into our car. I think I can confidently assume the GPS will be utilised more with firmware upgrades. It far excels our previous dash cam (which was over twice the price). The higher resolution and premium lens really makes a enormous difference.
Hey Graham - I hope you will like it a lot! Funny enough I have purchased a GPS module month ago and it is still not shipped :( Did you already receive the cam? Or your feedback is based on the reviews around?
Does the GPS module work for you? I cannot get it calibrated over here. It gives me a little red sign after a while. But today i had a green arrow. Does that mean, it is calibrated? If yes, when will it warn you? It did not warn me if I get closer to vehicles etc.
GPS module came with the unit. Having had it for a couple of weeks now even more impressed. The GPS unit, at this stage gives lane departure, not that magnificent, but also gives proximity warning which I think is based on speed. It gives a warning if it thinks you are tailgating.
GPS unit does what it says it does, not brilliant but as I suggested in my first post, I think they will utilise its ability in later firmware upgrades. Would be good to have speed included in the readouts. The voice control work very well.
@@jarrahorion I think everyone that buys a GPS dashcam fully expects to see the GPS info on the screen and also on recorded videos (or at least the option). That is not the case with this one. They should tell people up front. As for the lane departure feature, it`s no more than a gimmick. I can't even find a way to synchronise the time with the accurate GPS time. After helping to crowdfund this and waiting for months for production and delivery I am very disappointed. More disappointed with the company really for misleading people this way.
I recommend everyone doing hard wiring to use the biggest fuse out there. If you are good with tools you can take a thick (the thicker possible) and stick it in there. This way your fuse will not burn anymore. I strongly recommend to do the same with all the fuse in thy car. Remember those annoying times when a fused got broken and the system on it stopped working? Well using the biggest ones in the world or diy as I described with a thick copper wire will solve this for good! No more broken fused!
You do NOT need hard wiring for parking mode! The device can record usig its own internal battery, so parking mode can work using the lighter socket (even when not powered when parked).
Ive gone through 2 blackvue in 3 years... I always went by the “get what you pay for” saying, now im gonna try a cheapie. If i get 2 years out of it i will be happy
Great review. Two things: 1) I was under the impression the built-in 500mA battery was all that is needed for parking mode. No? 2) The product ships with 2 electrostatic "stickers" so as to eliminate having to stick the attachment directly to the windshield, and thus avoiding any residue once removed
MrGeorgeScatos excellent additions. THe added battery is sufficient for around 20 minutes of additional recording, and may not be enough if the car is parked in a busy area of a city.
Nice review! I only have one question: how does that emergency recording work? When you press the button: Will it just record like the last 3 minutes before the moment or something?
The emergency recording is activated automatically based on the gravity sensor when there's a sudden shake. Or if you use the button it marks the current video as "emergency".
@@TechMishka Hi, I have a query regarding that. It is activated when there's a sudden shake, but doesn't that mean that it has already passed and you could possibly missed the whole thing? e.g. a car hits you from the back, the camera only records the front. Or if the car hits you but because of the position, you can't see the carplate number of the car. I'm wondering if this applies to the Parking Mode as well? How does it work?
After finishing this video, I have decided to switch to a normal hard-wiring kit, as this one is designed for the DDPai and is a bit different compared to the common hard wiring kits. Right now I keep it connected to the electric window buttons - they are starting up together with the car engine. Parking mode still works - right now I don't need parking monitoring as the car mostly stays in a garage. The other fuse I use is the one for the radio - it is always-on in the car.
Thank you so much for the answer! My Question was: What kind of fuse did u use under the blue one that u took out of the fuse box, the one that was already in the hard wiring kit when you connected the blue one. Thanks 😁
Hey Steve - awesome! The more - the merrier :-) If you like the content feel free to help the channel reach more people by sharing with friends and over social media if you believe there will be interested people. And thanks for the comment - one of these that warm the heart! :-)
As usual another great video/review and thank you!. This looks to be a promising dash cam especially at the USD price point. I realize RUclips does not always do video justice but the "fisheye" stood out for me (whilst for others the impact might not be as bothersome. Albeit, not a deal breaker). The pin connectors for GPS module sure bring back memories (Viofo A119 V1)
Hello, what resolution do you use for your camera? Since I have problems with reading the highest resolution on my phone. Also at night I started to think that the highest resolution doesnt gives me any adventages in comparision with 1080p ? Or I am wrong ?
GOOD DAY! just a few questions and clarifications regarding this dashcam 1. the dashcam automatically turns on once the car starts, is this correct? 2. if yes, will it automatically record too? 3. if #1 and #2 are yes, will it automatically save the video when it's turned off? no need to push any buttons or do voice commands?
@@steveglen3354 lithium cell don't work very well under heat, while capacitors has higher temperature range and just keep enough juice to safely shutdown the cam. So a capacitor dashcam would fit better in warm climate countries.
This is not a Xiaomi, I have a Yi Smart Dash Camera...also marketed as "xiaomi" from Chinese sellers, talk to their sup, they have NOTHING to do with Xiaomi, I bet this is the case here too. Unless specified as Xiaomi OR you ask them and they confirm it's a xiaomi, it's not a Xiaomi!
Great review, thank you for your time! Would you please recomend a hardwire kit? And, also, is the anyway to adjust the camera from left to right (ie you don't place the camera on the center of the windshield but would still like to center the recorded view)?
There is no way to adjust to the left or right - so we have to be careful when doing the installation. As for hardwire kit - I like a lot those made by Vantrue :-)
I wonder if you can help with a few questions please. Do i need a 2 wire or 3 wire parking mode wiring kit ? i have just received this dashcam and having trouble understanding why and how it uses either of these wiring kits ,it looks like it automatically goes into parking mode when no movement detected (parked). Would it be best to just wire it permanent connection in that case with voltage drop cutoff. I'm having trouble finding a 70mai kit will a DDPai Mini3 Hardwire Kit work and work correctly .
I know there is a 70Mai specific 3 wire kit. Not sure how it is different from the usual kits. My camera stays on and does loop recording after parking if the power stays on.
The DDpai wiring kit uses different logic and has a module for detecting the car battery level. So it is better to get a random 2-wire kit (I am using one from Vantrue and it works well).
Great review! I have a question though. Would I be able to flip the recordings or display if I am intending to rest the camera on the dashboard? Because I'm planning to get one to use if I rent a car during my travels.
Hi, I need a dashcam with very good quality recording capability at night. Which one would you recommend: 70mai pro or the Ddpai mini 3? I've watched both of your reviews and they both seem equally good. Please help me decide. 😕
Both work great. And I use both of them all the time. The 70mai pro has GPS - which is a good option and is also less expensive. The DDPAI is more discrete, and my wife likes that a lot.
Hi. Thanks for the good review. I understand that the dash cam has an in built battery. Can it not use that to power parking monitoring? Or does it need to be hard wired?
Amazing, thank you. Could you please explain more about the parking mode - how it works. I didn't understand quite well :/ I mean in order to work, I need an specialist to install it? Because I don't have the tools you used there. The English version without GPS module comes with that parking mode but again it needs setting, is that right? Can you explain more about that setting please? I have the first generation and it's amazing...and it was really easy to set, I did it myself. But I got interested in this new version for the parking mode and the 24h security sensor, but I feel it won't be that easy to install (?) You don't mention/show anything to install in the back for the parking mode so that's where I got lost...Hope you can help me.
You need to connect the camera to a constant power supply. The power to the lighter socket is shut off when you remove the key from the ignition, so the camera automatically shuts off, so it cannot monitor while parking.
If you are happy with the normal version and you don't see too many reasons to upgrade - then no need. I think this one has much better image quality though. It is really interesting to see the GPS and ADAS function and I am as well eagerly waiting for the GPS module.
Is it actually safe to buy it from the link that you provided? and what does it mean that it's not INTERNATIONAL version? because on 70mai.com i see only pre-order option :|
Yes, it is safe - I buy a lot of things from GearBest and they are all fine. You may also check on the 70mai indiegogo page - this is the source and is probably even more reliable. The main difference is the language - the international version has English-based firmware and supports a few other languages. The Chinese version cannot "speak" English, and the commands won't work, unless you can say them in Chinese.
great video!. could you tell me how does the parking mode work. Does it turn on and start recording after detecting motion or its 24hr recording and powered using car battery? thanks
Of all the reviews I've watched/read, I feel like I'm the only one having an issue where everything beyond my windshield is VERY blurry. Unless it's a huge road sign, then you can make it out, but if there's a car right in front of me at a traffic light, you can't even make out the license plate; it's completely illegible. Yet when I take the camera out and move around outside the car, the quality is amazing. I've cleaned the lense, and scrubbed the windshield inside and out like crazy, but no improvement unless it's basically sunset. It seems like it's focusing on the dashboard reflection on the windshield, but I've seen so many video reviews where there's not only the dash reflection, but the dash itself is in view. I'm not sure what to make of this, but it's HIGHLY irritating. Any suggestions? TIA.
I've seen such and issue happening with actioncameras - and the optics here is not much different. Most likely it is a badly placed lens - which messes up with the focus. Best thing to do is to return it and ask for replacement.
Hello ... I have a question about the range of camera rotation, you can rotate the lens 180 degrees so that you can record the center of the car inside?
Wonder what is the lowest temperature it can operate? I live in toronto, in winter very often drop to -27degree. My previous Xiaomi dash is fine in both summer and winter temperature but just the suction cup mount cant ..always fall in the winter time. So i pick this one for a try...
Congrats bro 👏 That's a nice review so you just received a new subscriber 🙂. I am looking forward to buy this thing so I am gonna ask you these : Did you finally get the GPS module ? If yes what exactly does it extra offer ? I mean does it work in Bulgaria or in any other country apart from China ? Can I see in the map where is the car that has the Dash cam + GPS module on it ? Sorry for all the questions but it would be helpful to let me know if you know ! Thanks and keep it up 👍
Hi Odysseas, very reasonable questions, and let me try to help: The GPS arrived and right now everything it does is to support ADAS, which is just warnings about about leaving a lane and driving too close behind another vehicle. The GPS still doesnt record route or speed. I have been discussing this with 70mai support team and they mentioned that expanding the GPS functionality via Firmware is scheduled for April. Whether it will happen -- I don't know. But right now - if you are not a huge fan of ADAS ... the GPS is not too helpful.
Thanks for the great review. I also need one. I have one question: what can I do when I have 2 cars and want to use one dashcam? I use one car for the winter season and one for summer time and want to plug the dahscam in the other car. Is there a 2nd holder for the window avaiable which I can purchase? Many thanks in advance.
Hi Andre, right now there seem to be no official listings of the holder. Likely in a few weeks they will start selling those. Maybe you can try getting in touch with 70Mai's team and checking whether they can help - servicecenter@70mai.com
Yeah, right now the length is locked.Perhaps they will "unlock" this feature at some point. I think the A119s is better at low light because of the sensor with less MP, but performance is comparable.
Good video!!! What do you think about the Xiaomi 70-Mai PRO x Street Guardian SGGCX2PRO Dash Camera with 400GB Micro SD Card??? What do you think is better? To use the GPS do I need a SIM card? I think a 64GB card is too little memory to record the vídeos.
The Street Guardian camera is better in many ways. ALso - much more expensive 🤑🤓 But if you need more space - definitely the choice! You do not need SIM card to use the GPS. Please not that currently the GPS on the 70Mai Pro is not good enough in terms of provided information - so if price of the SGGCX2Pro is acceptable - it will be the better choice.
Hi! As far as I remember - somewhere I've seen "-35 degrees". It is a Li-Ion battery that is inside and of course at that temperature the battery won't last too long. May I ask a question - I have noticed a few members from bulgaria that have found that particular video. Is it shared in some forum or facebook page? I'd love to get in touch with the community.
@@TechMishka Thank you for the reply! Well for the last couple of months I have been watching dash cam reviews ,so youtube suggested the video to me. I was also surprised to see familiar streets. But at the end I have decided to try the Aukey Dashcam DR02. mainly because of the capacitor and the bigger review pool, as it is an older product. In the meantime you got a new sub 😁
@@TheMrVulchev got it.
Hey all, is possible to change time loop , which is set up on 1 min loop to more? Will this camera with GPS module has speed and location informations or not? Thanks for the answers.
Christophe, try to switch the codecs on VLC. I use either VLC, or Pot player. The 1944p is encoded with h.265, so it is lagy, it is very likely that your PC doesn't support h.265 encoding on a hardware level.
@@TechMishka thank you for answer!! I install Pot Player and it works perfectly. Maybe better with a better hardware... And I try tobconvert in h264 with vlc, it works but we loose to much quality... I keep Pot Player
@@Ricri100 Glad it works! If Pot player works fine, then perhaps VLC will work fine too - just play around with the codecs. For conversion you may try using tencoder - one of the few freeware video encoders. Quite good too :-)
that's the point of these dashcams. Shorter video chunks. Large single files are impossible to recover in case of an accident. You can stitch them with software.
Hi Juan, it depends on the usage of h.265. Usually it is around 8-9 hours. WIth h.265 it will be more, but I haven't checked how much exactly. As for the ADAS - there is a review I keep on postponing again and again due to the delayer 70mai firmware releases. They promise to add real-time speed data, and that was supposed to happen in April. Hopefully soon 😎👍
Great review, thanks! Q: If I was to place the camera UPSIDE down flat on the dashboard, can I then still turn the lens in the correct position to record the upfront actions? Or, does the lens turn 360 degree all the way around? And, when recording upside down, can the firmware flip the image?
Hey dirkzelf, great question. The answer is - "no" - no way to do it. The firmware won't support it, and the adjustment angle is somewhere between 30 and 50 degrees.
I have BMW Advanced Car Eye for 3 years now and haven’t found anything to beat it yet !!! But this for the price it has, seems like a good recommendation!!!
Hi Daniel, this dash camera just as most of the others are configured to do that - as soon as they receive power, they turn on and start recording. After you shut down the car, they record for 5-10 more seconds and shut down automatically. Everything is fully automated and there is no need to do anything most of the time. I touch mine only when I need to copy a file from the recordings. With the 70mai Pro this cam be done via WiFi as well.
@@TechMishka hi, thank you for your reply. How is it like compared to Xiaomi Yi Smart Car DVR? Which one do you prefer? Any other preferences in that price range? Yi Smart Car DVR --> The camera pocket like with 2.7" screen, 165 deg. that comes in 2 colors, silver/grayish and gold
@@danielwilliams3378 I have not tested the Yi Car DVR and am unable to share any feedback about how both compare to each-other. For sure the 70Mai Pro has a bit more features, better CPU and h.265 encoding, which is not to be ignored.
During parking mode, does the camera continue loop recording and only protect an 'event' video if the G sensor is upset? also, in the file, does the camera pre-record if the G-sensor is triggered so the protected file has video leading up to an 'event' and not just after the fact ? thank you
During parking it only relies on the G-Sensor. If the movements are a lot, then it may even go into loop recording. it will stops as soon as no motions are detected. As for the marked videos - I will have to ask :-)
Hi, yeah - it works without hard-wiring too. Maybe lasts for like 20 minutes in total. It wakes-up the device as soon as there is movement, so if it is a quiet street it may last through the night.
I looked in eBay and there are so many of them with different prices. Which one should I get? You also put a note above that there is store near San Francisco right? Can you please provide the location? Can you also link me the direct site where I can order because I do not want to order on a site that scam people. Please provide me with your recommendations and I always want best quality surveillance monitor 24/7 along with GPS module. Thank you

@@TechMishka so it's good camera for recording accidents on parking lots? If someones hit my car with another car (like someone did yesterday :-(), this camera would start recording immediately after hit, not before hit (to save battery), right? For how long it will record after the accident? tnx
Hello! I would like to inquire about 70 mai dashcam pro standby. I give electricity to dashcam by cigarette lighter plug which has been given by origina dashcam box. I have 2 problems: 1, Even if the engine and the parking mode is off the camera doesnt stop recording, and make records continously, at locked car. 2, The 32gb sd card can storage only 160 recorded films (160 mins), is it normal? Many thanks in advance,
Perhaps your car doesn't interrupt the power to the cigar lighter when the engine is switched off. 160 minutes doesn't sound right. 1 minute recording is 100mb, so you should be able to store around twice more. Try formatting it again.
I am using a kit from Vantrue and it works pretty nice, however it comes with MiniUSB and NOT microUSB - I had to use a convertion cable, but because I often switch models it is fine with me. Check for fuse-based hardwire options on ALiexpress - most of them should work fine.

Hi.. I noticed at times there's lot of reflection of dashboard in the cam and especially on bottom corners you can see sun glare which is kind of irritating.. I had seen another youtuber's review of this product and he had more reflection of dashboard... we can try n reduce the dashboard reflection, however, what abt the glare..? Is there any way u can ask company to work on it..? Thanks.. Great first impression of the cam..
Thanks Krunal - you have noticed a lot of details! Overall - every time I get dashcam footage I get some kind of reflection from the dashboard - the sunnier it is, the more the reflection is. Some cars are like that - and with the one I drive it is quite obvious because of the material used. Using non-glossy cleaner is usually reducing a bit this "effect". As for other glares and stuff - perhaps you are referring to some of these color distortions that may appear if the sunlight appears directly - maybe firmware can improve this a bit, however it is mostly related to the optics used. Most likely 70Mai don't have the intention to use another (upgraded) lens.
Thanks for prompt reply.. by the way, once again loved the way you presented first impression.. hopefully we can get review of the cam with gps.. This definitely looks value for money product considering the features offered.. Also i have a query.. Can we use sjcam sj7 or gopro hero 5/6/7 as car dashcam..? Although they have car mode i guess but Will those have that motion sensor and auto record to detect if car is hit when parked..? I am not a regular rider but contemplating to buy a action cam for occasional rides, hence, wanted to know if these action cams can be used as dashcam ..? Thanks in advance.. :)
@@krunalsampat Very kind words, and they mean a lot to me. Thank you! You can use an action camera as a dash camera - yes. Similar viewing angles, better image quality, stabilization :-) What you should check is whether the model you need has the so called "car mode". THis modes allows the camera to automatically start and begin recording as soon as it is connected to a power source (which usually comes from the car lighter). GoPro doesn't have that. SJ7 does. So do firefly, and usually firefly, thieye and other cameras. I have used an older SJ4000 for a long time as a dash camera. Thing is that not every action camera has a motion sensing algorithm. And - of course - I am waiting for the GPS module. Purchased, but it will take a while for the delivery.
I am interested in one of these cameras, but I don't want to clutter the car with cables. Any suggestion on the wiring? I guess running them off battery is just useless.
The best thing to do is to get a hardwire (connected to the car's fisebox) and find a discrete way to bring it to the cam. There are only 5cm of cable visible in my case and it is totally discrete - usually the rearview mirror hides that.
Thanks for this review. I'm seriously considering this dashcam. Can you set up the screen to be off by default? Once power goes off how long does it take for the cam to run out of battery and die?
Hello I just bought a new 70 my pro dashcam but the description of what is included in the box is more self here we are not responsible there we are not responsible that so things to state there is nothing at all nothing is almost nothing about how you have to set how you have to do everything and I would like to hear from you the parking option parking monitoring of the car 'but how you should set me actually because I tried within 15 minutes the battery is empty how does it go 24 hours guard the car I want something from you
If you need continuous parking mode, you need to use a hardwire kit - no other way. The battery lasts for no lonmger than 20-minute continuous recording.
My new unit only shows pulsing blue. Never green, so it never records. Also, it will only work if connected to my phone? Via WiFi? Bluetooth? So if I don't bring my phone it will not work? Any help appreciated
No that is not the case, if your sd card is fine, when ever you connect power to your unit it will start recording and shows green light, please try with other sd card, or format the existing and then try. Let us know the outcome
There is a "quick-release" sticker included - it works similar to the screen protectors for smartphones and is quite easy to remove. Since I found that with the first 70 mai I tend to glue all my dashcams that way 😎👍
@@TechMishka do you have update on putting video side by side for 70mai pro vs DDPai mini3? I really like to see which one is best as I am planning to buy one. And in terms of durability, which do you think will last longer pretending using them the same time.
I have this with GPS, how can you tell if the GPS is working or doing anything at all? There is nothing on recorded videos or on the screen. The video is good but needs a bit of refinement. Hopefully a firmware update will help soon.
Hi Robert, I can recall seeing a setting about the GPS in the menus. My module is not here yet, so I am impatiently waiting to test that. You may also try to enable ADAS - there are a few config options in the app too.
@@TechMishka Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have ADAS enabled and have used the GPS since in the car but there is still nothing on the screen or in the videos to give any GPS figures or any uses for it. Having had a GPS enabled dash cam before I am used to having the option to see the position/time info on a map etc.
@@TechMishka I have had a reply from Xiaomi 70mai Pro makers and their response was pathetic. They acknowledge that the GPS data is not displayed on the screen or indeed on the recorded video, so apart from possibly keeping the clock accurate (not yet) and the bit of help it gives to the ADAS system (not much use really). How a company can advertise a GPS dash cam that does not allow you to access the data is very poor. They say they are looking at including it ;) There seemed to be complete naivety about the reasons for GPS.
With the current version there is no such option. The image really is a bit oversharpened. The saturation is probably fine - I have used a lot of samples taken from the so called "golden hour" where everything looks nice and full of color :-)
Heey ilker, greetings back from Bulgaria to Turkey! ☺😇 Unfortunately there is no time lapse (yet). It is not too difficult to add it in the firmware, so I believe it is worth sending a message to 70mai's support. I see that you use B1W a lot - a fabulous camera! :-)

I stripped off the other end so I can wire it into my fuse box with a 12v5v adapter and it was a much better cable than came with my Yi dash cam
.
Thanks Bryce, very good note. The original cable indeed looks much better.
@@TechMishka Hi there, May I also know that whether the dashcam port for itself is (Micro USB) or (Mini Usb) Indeed?
Just purchased the Pro GPS version in Australia, very impressed with the video quality and overall operation. The GPS module was only a few dollars more so included that in the purchase not being aware that the only extra feature was the ADAS which is already a standard feature built into our car. I think I can confidently assume the GPS will be utilised more with firmware upgrades. It far excels our previous dash cam (which was over twice the price). The higher resolution and premium lens really makes a enormous difference.
Hey Graham - I hope you will like it a lot!
Funny enough I have purchased a GPS module month ago and it is still not shipped :(
Did you already receive the cam?
I just wish they make a 2ch version of this. It's good but better if have rear channel
Yeah, that would be awesome! Especially now when having a display.
@@TechMishka just buy 2 of them lol and install them on front and rear
Goobeek maybe just the gen 1 without screen would suffice for rear?
just get another one and install it at the back
Thanks for another great review and the dash cam was just what I was looking for. 👍
I am very glad you liked it :-) And - yeah - it looks really great and works super stable.
@Gustav Mahler It is rotating, but cannot do that at 180 degrees - it is more like a minor angle correction to be applied.
Greetings from Athens ! Once more this is a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Warmest regards to Athens, my friend!
Good idea, thanks!
You do NOT need hard wiring for parking mode! The device can record usig its own internal battery, so parking mode can work using the lighter socket (even when not powered when parked).
Very true! We only need to be aware of the 20-minute limitation - because the embedded battery won't last for longer than that.
@@TechMishka What 20min limitation?
Ive gone through 2 blackvue in 3 years... I always went by the “get what you pay for” saying, now im gonna try a cheapie. If i get 2 years out of it i will be happy
Most of the cheaper models will last for a long time. Used to run the SJ4000 for almost 3 years and it failed because of a bad USB cable :(
Great review. Two things:
1) I was under the impression the built-in 500mA battery was all that is needed for parking mode.
@@TechMishka Can a powerbank power the camera in parking mode? thanks!
@@mihonkenji5423 Sure, this is possible.
Hi... how bout DUAL Camera Dashcam (front and back).. which would you recommend?
Check Viofo's models. They have a lot of very good cams.
its good, but parking mode recording could be countinues
@@seowweiyi07 yes - this is how it works in my understanding.
Thanks, just purchased and installed this with the GPS module. Will check how to do the hard wiring.
Hopefully the hard-wire installation was not difficult. This dashcam has really good footage to offer.
Hi which video setting is the best? And any idea about the p/n part? Sorry I'm new to this thank you!
Great review! One Question please: what fuse did you use in the second slot? Thanks
Thanks 😁

How parking mode works? 70 mai pro dont have motion detector. Camera record all of the time when car is parked or how it works?
It only triggers if there's a shock activated. There is no motion detection.
=) Yeah - good to see some things reminding one of the all-time best models.
Hello, what resolution do you use for your camera? Since I have problems with reading the highest resolution on my phone. Also at night I started to think that the highest resolution doesnt gives me any adventages in comparision with 1080p ? Or I am wrong ?
Theoretically higher resolution gives more details;
For playback - try VLC player or MXPlayer.
Just bought this because it seems it's the best for all the features on the price tag
Great choice!
GOOD DAY! just a few questions and clarifications regarding this dashcam
1. the dashcam automatically turns on once the car starts, is this correct?
2. if yes, will it automatically record too?
3. if #1 and #2 are yes, will it automatically save the video when it's turned off? no need to push any buttons or do voice commands?
1. Yes
2. Yes.
3. Yes
Almost every dashcam can do that nowadays 👍
Great review ! I’d like to ask, is it possible to deactivate the timestamp and logo during the video recording ? Thankyou !
You have options to remove the logo. Can't remember about the time stamp.
Awesome image quality...thanks!
Yup, the video quality of this dashcam is absolutely delightful.
The only thing that stops me from getting a dashcam from xiaomi's ecosystem is that it uses a lithium cell as compared to a super-capacitor.
Yeah, I also wish to see a version with capacitor. Maybe soon :-)
What's the difference?
@@steveglen3354 lithium cell don't work very well under heat, while capacitors has higher temperature range and just keep enough juice to safely shutdown the cam. So a capacitor dashcam would fit better in warm climate countries.
if it last 3 yrs good enough
Do i need a 2 wire or 3 wire parking mode wiring kit ?
i have just received this dashcam and having trouble understanding why and how it uses
either of these wiring kits ,it looks like it automatically goes into parking mode when no movement detected (parked).
Nice review! 👍
Thanks Albert.
Awesome review! I just have a quick question, though. Is this the A500 model? Thanks in advance. ^_^
No, this is the 70mai Pro. The A500 is a bit newer as far as I see and is almost the same.
hey, thank for great review, i like that dashcam please, can you share a hardware kit link?
is the image as good as on video ...very good video, license plates very clear
Yeah, the video is not touched at all - I mean you see the raw viudeo from the camera.
Great review! I have a question though. Would I be able to flip the recordings or display if I am intending to rest the camera on the dashboard? Because I'm planning to get one to use if I rent a car during my travels.
I think it won't be supported. You may achieve this with most action cameras and you can even find some with suction-based mount.
Thanks!
Which would you prefer, the ddpai or the 70mai? Thanks
I like both really a lot. The Mini 3 by ddpai is fantastic, so is the 70mai pro.
Hi. Thanks for the good review. I understand that the dash cam has an in built battery. Can it not use that to power parking monitoring? Or does it need to be hard wired?
No need to be wired - you can use the remaining charge for parking surveillance, however it may last for no longer than 20-30 minutes.
@@TechMishka what if we use a mini power bank 🧐
@@daves465 directly from the cam to the 12v or do i need a adapter from 12v to usb/5v?
@@surfbasar If you're not using the car charger supplied with the camera then you need a 12v to 5v dc-dc converter.

If I have the 70mai normal version, do you recommend to upgrade to Pro version? The difference in video resolution is high?
Does it turn on and start recording after detecting motion or its 24hr recording and powered using car battery? thanks
There's no motion detection - it starts if the g-sensor gets triggered, which makes it rather unreliable.
Just a note that your Amazon link doesn't work in the description, titled Xiaomi 70Mai Pro: (Amazon). It says, "Oops, not found".
Thank you for letting me know
Hi! Can this withstand the high temperature inside a car which might rise to 60-70 degree celsius when parked outside in summer ?
Yes, it can handle that. But if that will happen too often - think about a dashcam with super capacitor.
Tech4All Awesome info. Thanks for the reply, I'll reach out to the sellers and see about a replacement. Thank you!
Hello ... I have a question about the range of camera rotation, you can rotate the lens 180 degrees so that you can record the center of the car inside?
Unfortunately - not... The rotation angle is about 40-50 degrees si that you better adjust it and that's all.
Wonder what is the lowest temperature it can operate? I live in toronto, in winter very often drop to -27degree. My previous Xiaomi dash is fine in both summer and winter temperature but just the suction cup mount cant ..always fall in the winter time. So i pick this one for a try...
It should be fine at -27. And not having suction cup will likely be good enough to remain where you placed it 😇
Congrats bro 👏 That's a nice review so you just received a new subscriber 🙂. Thanks and keep it up 👍
Hi Odysseas, very reasonable questions, and let me try to help:
The GPS arrived and right now everything it does is to support ADAS, which is just warnings about about leaving a lane and driving too close behind another vehicle.
This is cool every minute recording is safe while you driving ...
I wish it was truly making driving safe. But is at least a good thing to use as an evidence. 😎
during the 2:40 mark, the car on right looks like the wheels are not moving. so i am guessing that it is moving at 60 fps.
The video is released at 30FPS, and the footage is 30FPS as well.
Can you suggest suitable microsd card for 70 mai pro. I'm seeing mixed reviews about San disk ultra not suitable for dash cams ?
I've used it with really cheap mixia 32gb card as well as 64GB Samsung U1 card. Both worked fine.

Hi! This cam vs viofo a119s ? Is it possible to increase the recording minutes? According to what I have read it is only 1 minute. Good video!!
Yeah, right now the length is locked.Perhaps they will "unlock" this feature at some point.
I think the A119s is better at low light because of the sensor with less MP, but performance is comparable.

Wanted to know. Whats the best resolution to use for this dashcam? 1944p or 1440p?

But if you need more space - definitely the choice!
You do not need SIM card to use the GPS. Please not that currently the GPS on the 70Mai Pro is not good enough in terms of provided information - so if price of the SGGCX2Pro is acceptable - it will be the better choice.
Hey man, nice videos. Do you know something about, what resistance it has for cold weather as well?

Did you use h.265 to encode? The logo is always on the recording?
On most of the segments - yes. The Logo is always on, yeah...
Hey all, is possible to change time loop , which is set up on 1 min loop to more? Will this camera with GPS module has speed and location informations or not? Thanks for the answers.
GPS module will NOT give you speed and location, it only provides collision prevention function ADAS (which is not good at all).
It is very likely the camera to receive a firmware update, which will enable the GPS-real time data to be shown and used.
Hi ! Can you tell me which software you use to read videos on your computer? Because with VLC it works bad maybe because of MP4 with 1944p ??
Christophe, try to switch the codecs on VLC. I use either VLC, or Pot player. The 1944p is encoded with h.265, so it is lagy, it is very likely that your PC doesn't support h.265 encoding on a hardware level.
@@TechMishka thank you for answer!! I install Pot Player and it works perfectly. Maybe better with a better hardware... And I try tobconvert in h264 with vlc, it works but we loose to much quality... I keep Pot Player

@@TechMishka hi which memory card of 128gb shall I use for 70mai pro to get the best resolution while watching the video
I have this but it is malfunctioning. It records video but splits it every 3 minute. Why? How can I make it into 1 video file ?
that's the point of these dashcams. Shorter video chunks. Large single files are impossible to recover in case of an accident.
You can stitch them with software.
How many hours of fullhd can you store on 64gb? can you make a video showing the ADAS function?
Hello! Can you connect to car hotspot wifi with 70Mai Pro or it supports only Access Point mode (you must be connected directly to camera wifi)?
Hi Vladimir, and thank you for this question. The 70mai pro acts as an AP, and there is no way to connect it to another hotspot.
Will it automatically record the video when we turn on the car or we have to press manually?
Hi Daniel, this dash camera just as most of the others are configured to do that - as soon as they receive power, they turn on and start recording. After you shut down the car, they record for 5-10 more seconds and shut down automatically. Everything is fully automated and there is no need to do anything most of the time.
I touch mine only when I need to copy a file from the recordings. With the 70mai Pro this cam be done via WiFi as well.

How long does the built in battery last in parking mode?
About 15-20 minutes.
How are the batteries coz once they are old.thry need replacement can I replace them
No easy way for replacement. But these batteries should last for at least a few years.
Hey does parking mode work with out hardwiring, does it work only with the inbuilt camara battery until the battery dies pls let me know.
Hi, yeah - it works without hard-wiring too. Maybe lasts for like 20 minutes in total. It wakes-up the device as soon as there is movement, so if it is a quiet street it may last through the night.
@@TechMishka you mean movement like hit into the car not movement of other cars that are passing by?
I don't understand why on mu 70mai pro I can't really see the licensplate on the oncoming traffic? I'm I missing something?
If it is night - likely it is because of reflections. Try to move it to another place on the window.
@@TechMishka Even in daylight and clean window it still has this problem...
can you connect the micro usb to usb port to charge instead of cigarette car charger?
Of course - no limits about the power source as long as it can deliver 2A.
Thank you
There are links in the description of the video you may check - proven to be working good. |You may also check in Amazon - a bit more expensive, but it is as reliable as it could be 😇😎
Hello,
Does the app allow you to view the real time video?
Yes it does, use the 70mai app
Will the parking mode drains your car battery?
No, it should not - because it is triggered by the G-Sensor - so only shakes and real accidents will wake up the camera.

I have 2 problems:
1, Even if the engine and the parking mode is off the camera doesnt stop recording, and make records continously, at locked car.
Tech4All, what would you recommend for a hardwiring kit for the Xiaomi 70Mai PRO device?
I am using a kit from Vantrue and it works pretty nice, however it comes with MiniUSB and NOT microUSB - I had to use a convertion cable, but because I often switch models it is fine with me.
Check for fuse-based hardwire options on ALiexpress - most of them should work fine.
Thank you for the thorough answer, and I want to ask if this is a good choice, should it also work if I will buy from here? www.amazon.com/dp/B072J3L2JN/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=d2f-20&linkId=9a706996804ac60c8dad7d496a82c283
Should not be anything special if NuCam is here because there are also video recorders of the same company? @@TechMishka
Have you changed any video settings from default ?
Only the resolution - h.265 + I've chosen the highest one.
Similar viewing angles, better image quality, stabilization :-)
What you should check is whether the model you need has the so called "car mode".
@@TechMishka Thanks a lot :) Cleared all my doubts..
@@krunalsampat Most welcome! if any other questions appear - you know where to ask :))
what comes in box,is the cable long enough?
Yes, the cable is quite long. And the box content is shown at the start of the video.
@@TechMishka where did you buy this cable to connect in the car's fisebox? I have this cam and I want to connect it like that.
Можеше и на български да го направите . Иначе браво за видеото ☺️
Thanks for this review. I'm seriously considering this dashcam. Can you set up the screen to be off by default? Once power goes off how long does it take for the cam to run out of battery and die?
I believe there is a way to keep the screen off, yes.
As for the battery - it may record up to 20 minutes before getting entirely empty.
Does it show something on the screen? If it does - then go to the settings and format the card.
YOu may also try the reset button.
The only downside is buying the non-gps version and then upgrading later, you need to replace the window mount
There is a "quick-release" sticker included - it works similar to the screen protectors for smartphones and is quite easy to remove. Since I found that with the first 70 mai I tend to glue all my dashcams that way 😎👍
It shoots video better than ddpai mini 3, or not?
Hard to say like that. THey are very close to each other in terms of quality. Will have to put them side by side :-)
@@TechMishka do you have update on putting video side by side for 70mai pro vs DDPai mini3?
I really like to see which one is best as I am planning to buy one.
And in terms of durability, which do you think will last longer pretending using them the same time.
Can you automatically disable screen (without having to manually disable it every time you turn on the camera)
I think there is the option to reduce the timer to one second or something similar. The duration of the screen-on-time is configurable.
@@bigbadrobby Got it, now understood. Well - another thing to follow up on as soon as the gps module arrives :)
Maybe none of them actually drive a car ;)
The best dashcam ever
Can i extend video duration time?
I really liked the quality of the images I need to know if this camera also works as pc camera (webcam)
Hi Dimas, thank you very much for the comment.
The camera can not work as PC camera or webcam.
@@TechMishka ok
For me image from this camera is oversaturated and oversharpened. Can I change sharpness and color vivid in options?
With the current version there is no such option. The image really is a bit oversharpened. The saturation is probably fine - I have used a lot of samples taken from the so called "golden hour" where everything looks nice and full of color :-)
vs BlueSKyswa B1w at the same price, which you would choose?
Definitely the 70 Mai Pro
Greetings to Bulgaria, is there time lapse feature that we can record for our road trips?
Heey ilker, greetings back from Bulgaria to Turkey! ☺😇 Unfortunately there is no time lapse (yet). It is not too difficult to add it in the firmware, so I believe it is worth sending a message to 70mai's support.
I see that you use B1W a lot - a fabulous camera! :-)

Hello bro . I really liked your video. Actually I have got a unit to review this dashcam and I want to use few clips from your video so could you please allow me to use some of the parts from your video. I will give links to your channel and this video as well. Please let me know
Hi Marsh Mallow , considering the strict youtube policies about using other people's content, I'd suggest getting some footage on your own and using it for your vid.
@@TechMishka ok no problem... Actually I have commented from wrong account I have a RUclips channel named Info n tech .. I make car related videos on that.. you might wanna check out .. What resolution are you recording this in?
Most of the recordings were done in the highest resolution and then cropped a little.
