I think it's your competitor probably hired someone to harass you so you'd take business off your website, get the attorneys name and research her ask her for her authorization of representation for these models.

I know this video is old, but under no circumstance is the “model agency” correct. Images are owned by the PHOTOGRAPHER. If the vendor paid their photog for third party use for their customers, that’s all that needs to be done. That was so rude of them to do and lie.
While it was nice of you to give her the money for the clothing that shrunk, you cld go out of business doing that. As a retailer, I would have called the vendor or manufacturer and let them know what happened. You shouldn’t have had to pay that beside how do you know she washed them correctly or maybe hadn’t worn the clothes. Business is business but even if you had given her just s credit, I still wld have contacted the vendor. Maybe on your receipt you have a statement that tells customers you are not liable or responsible for shrinkage and they should contact the manufacturer. This clears you and you won’t have to work so hard. As far as the scammer or anyone asking for money concerning bills all you have to do is call the company in your town to confirm. Models do not own the rights to the photos that they are in/ modeling for. They sign contracts that say as much. It's standard. If some company is serious about the threat they should issue a formal warming. Pass that on to your attorney. Let them know you are passing it on to your attorney. Let them know further communication will be handled via your attorney. Also ask them for contact information. Call the agency they claim to be from and make sure they are legit. Or better yet ask your vendor for the model agency info and call them.

It's funny because the photos would actually belong to the photographer not the models. The photographer would usually be the one harassing you, not the agency.

You mentioned some companies tell you to crop out the heads that's a tell tale sign that they don't have rights to the photos. Some of these wholesalers actually take pictures from RUclipsrs and other bloggers who are wearing their clothes and use them without permission. I wouldn't use any that tell you to crop out the heads.
It sounds like she’s trying to get money from you or to make you take them down. If the company paid for a shoot for the clothes they would have gotten a signed document from the models and photographer transferring the rights to the company. That means the agency would have no rights over the photos.

You need to have a solid return policy. That what you can tell them as they leave so when they return all you can do is apologize. Some people are just coming in to cause a catastrophe.

I work in Retail and am trying to open up my own store. I have had customers bring back bras that had been worn for months. I believe there is a limit to what you as a customer should expect a store to take back. There are some people that are just out to see what they can get. Once her shrinking the clothes is iffy but twice an it isn't $50 it's hundreds of dollars. I wouldn't have taken them back. Your a good person and I am sorry that you had a really crappy day tomorrow will be better.

But just remember as you learn and jump over these obstacles.... The nerve of the lady to return them clothes like that. Try washing the clothes in cold water and hang dry them. That's the worst thing about working in retail people will find the crazy excuse to return something item .

I manage a Plato’s Closet and they give us stock photos. We can only use them for a certain timeframe. Typically they have an agreement with the models to use their photos up to a year. After the photos are expired we can no longer use them. I wonder if it’s the same thing? Maybe the company that is allowing you to use the photos have an agreement with the modeling company and the person you talked to from the company wasn’t aware of that? Idk that’s so weird and that sucks. I’m sorry 😢 but you’re an inspiration so don’t let it get you down. 👑💕
Oh, and it if it helps, those same people try to scam us to pay the power bill as well. I had someone actually call me last week and told me to get a piece of paper and named the store owner and company corporate franchise and said we’re in huge trouble and we owe money because of a financial situation between the owner and franchise. These people are good at their job and have scammed other Plato’s closets. Just be sure to train your employees to forward those calls to you- which they obviously did/do. 🤗👍🏼

The nerve of the lady to return them clothes like that. Try washing the clothes in cold water and hang dry them. That's the worst thing about working in retail people will find the crazy excuse to return something item .

I manage a Plato’s Closet and they give us stock photos. We can only use them for a certain timeframe. Typically they have an agreement with the models to use their photos up to a year. After the photos are expired we can no longer use them. I wonder if it’s the same thing? Maybe the company that is allowing you to use the photos have an agreement with the modeling company and the person you talked to from the company wasn’t aware of that? Idk that’s so weird and that sucks. I’m sorry 😢 but you’re an inspiration so don’t let it get you down. 👑💕
Oh, and it if it helps, those same people try to scam us to pay the power bill as well. I had someone actually call me last week and told me to get a piece of paper and named the store owner and company corporate franchise and said we’re in huge trouble and we owe money because of a financial situation between the owner and franchise. These people are good at their job and have scammed other Plato’s closets. Just be sure to train your employees to forward those calls to you- which they obviously did/do. 🤗👍🏼
