As a side to the main story here, it’s incredible how much stress can impact the human body. High cortisol levels from stress can and will wreak absolute havoc on a person. It can affect almost any system in the body and multiple body systems at a time. I feel like our healthcare system doesn’t advocate enough the importance of keeping stress levels down. You are a prime example.
This story is sad. But what really has me in tears is hearing how supportive your family was during this time. They were the glue that held you guys together in a desperate time of need. Thats not seen very often these days ❤❤
i am tuned into this story! thank you for sharing. please take time for yourself and go at your pace if you’re having stress related to this. we will be here whenever you’re ready. ❤ this was traumatic and retelling our trauma can be so healing and powerful but it’s important we are in control of that experience. i think it’s a big part of healing and taking your power back. you’re doing amazing.
This story is traumatizing. I'm so sorry you and your husband had to go through all this. I hope telling your story isn't adding to your stress. Please take it easy. Life is too short. Praying for you and your entire family 🙏
Totally agree!! This may be difficult to retell. Go at your own pace Allison. I dont know how you got thru all this. Youre an incredibly strong woman!!
I never comment on RUclips, but I enjoy getting home and seeing a post from you, you are super good at telling your story. I think it is super strong of you for sharing this difficult experience, and very important for others to hear your story❤ your strength is incredible
I am following this so hard. Every time you upload Im here lol. Truly it’s a heart breaking story tho and Im so sorry yall went through all this. Sending good vibes. ❤
I’m so grateful to people like you who are willing to share these important experiences. Thanks to your willingness to share there are millions of people who gain meme better informed decisions on how we spend our money and where we choose to vacation. The internet can be a scary place, especially when people leave comments that are negative or worse but those are the people who try to silence us for their own personal gain. They win when we get scared off and thus critical information sharing ceases. The good that you are doing is tremendously helpful and an act of humanity in its best form. I thank you for that and your bravery to help pass on accurate information.
Thank you for sharing this. I think it’s important for people departing for less expensive sunnier locations to understand that there are all kinds of situations like this one to be aware of.
The fact that your family had to go through all of this because the guy on the motorcycle decided to drink & drive and cause an accident is wild to me. 😩
I’m so sorry your family went through this horrific experience. I’m so invested in listening to you explain and relive this horrible time. This is so upsetting that your husband was placed in jail for an accident he didn’t cause. I can’t believe how the decedent family expected your family to pay for the motorcyclist carelessness.
I was watching your videos from beginning to end and I feel sad about everything that happened. In our country, Nicaragua, the authorities are very incompetent, and not only with foreigners, but also with nationals.😢
There is a lot of corruption, accidents are frequent, there is no road safety education, and people do not like to educate themselves, the same thing always happens and all because of driving at high speed and drunk.
I am very sad about everything you have been through, stress is dangerous and these inept authorities are always like that, many truly professional people have left Nicaragua because of corruption.
Nicaragua is a beautiful country but it is destroyed by authorities that are useless. Before there were more quality professionals, but now it is difficult to find even a good judge or a lawyer who does not scam you.
As someone with Crohns, I have so much empathy for you and what you went though. I know how stress impacts my body, and I can only imagine what you went through physically and mentally❤
Your strength is unbelievable. I am so sorry that the government and laws of Nicaragua caused you to have a life-altering major surgery. I can not fathom the total lack of humanity. Bless you, your brave children and you resilient husband. This story is movie material. Right the book and sell the movie before someone else tries to.
Thank god you guys are out n this isnt posted live because the suspense i feel between video is crazy i couldnt imagine what it must have been for you guys i hope you guys can heal in time ❤
The weight of all these immense decisions while managing all this stress had to have been crippling. Thank you so much for sharing in such a way that we can understand even a little bit. My heart goes out to you and your family. Will continue to follow your further updates.
I’m so sorry you went through this horrific experience. I watch every update as soon as you post it because it’s so unbelievable. I’m glad you guys are home
I’m so sorry you went through all of this and at the same time. I’m so invested in this story. It’s like an episode of Lost when you’re so involved and boom that episode ends. You are doing an excellent job of telling this story even though it upsets you.
Thank you so much for sharing! Majority out here are listening without judgement ❤ as hard as it can be please ignore the negative comments. You have been through so much , and no one could’ve anticipated something like this happening. There is always the option to turn off comments on your videos if the negative Nancy’s become overwhelming! ❤
The volume sounds great! I hope you have monetized your account because that will be so helpful to you and your family!! Keep going, this stuff matters, and one day you will be so glad you documented everything even if it is in more than one place.
Put your wellbeing first 🙏 Everyone has an opinion and clearly many people are not familiar with why people move to other countries, trauma, ptsd. Thank you for sharing this.
I keep refreshing my yt to check if theres new video that you posted already.. Morning, midday and evening. You just dont know the excitement i always have to see that you posted the next video bec i cant wait to hear the rest of the story .its not an excitement bec of what you went thru of cousre..its the excitement of being invested in your story. Gee youre so strong. I dont know what i will do if i will be in that position. But for sure thru these ordeal you became a very very strong and brave person! God has reason for everything!. Ok, waiting for the next episode! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Sweetie, if you ever doubt continuing the story, don’t feel pressured to keep going. If it doesn’t feel good anymore, delete them and stop!! I can imagine this can be also a bit dangerous and I really can imagine this is very very hard to tell!! But thank you so so much for even sharing!! ❤❤❤
I’m all about seeking professional help/therapy but you were right. There was nothing a psychiatrist could tell you to help you cope with your husband being in jail. They would just have to medicate your anxiety. That comes with all kinds of SE that would have been compounded on top of your UC symptoms. Edit- I would like to hear more about your ileostomy surgery.
Oh my goodness it just sounds like a living nightmare. I’m listening to each episode just really feeling for you and your husband. Just when you think it can’t get worse- it gets worse. I will think of you when I’m about to complain about petty things. Sending love from Australia
Right! I am the friend who took notes and literally every time I thought things couldn't get worse, they do. Every call I was like okay this has to be good news, Nope. So glad they are home now ❤ thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your story. I can't imagine dealing with all of the tragic events that you and your family had to endure. I hope your health continues to improve.
I can't even imagine going through this I have Crohn's disease and I was on Remicade and a bunch of others I remember moving myself and deciding not to start Remicade I took Humira because of how much you have to coordinate it. I just feel for you so much because I have such an understanding of the amount of pain you were in but not the emotional pain I don't think anyone can understand that part.
What about mesenchymal stem cell treatment...like delivered into the ulcerative area? It was in clinical trials a few years ago for UC at a hospital I worked at, and people had amazing results
I can really appreciate your feelings on the gofundme, but THIS is the EXACT thing they were created for-what would be enough to SINK one person/family can be shouldered by a larger group and not sink anyone.
I'm a dietitian and I appreciate your open discussion of your UC nightmare. Bowel disease is very disruptive to your life. How much weight did you lose and did you need a blood transfusion?
Added to your gofundme page just now, Allison. I wish I could send way more considering you guys are needing to completely start your lives over. Much love from San Diego🥰🥰🥰🥰💗💗
Remicade takes time. It's a harsh medication I was very sick with infections all the time, and it takes a lot by time to work and Didn't do much for me and infusions suck too. If you were in Canada there would have been other meds to try to save the colon, humira, xeljanz, meds that would have been covered as well and that sucks so bad this happened there and these options weren't available there. I've heard you need the meds even with the j pouch. I'm another Canadian mom with UC and I'm not feeling too good at the moment either. Not on meds at the moment I think sending the kids home was a hard decision but probably for the best.
@@flamingodiego I'm sorry you are struggling as well and I hope you feel better soon. Yes I can do a more detailed video about the surgery in the future. I will probably take a break from filming for a while once this story is finished.
Girl I cannot stop watching your story, make sure to monetize when you hit the watch time & subscribers (you’ll recoup some of the money you spent, might as well).
Does anyone know how old Allison’s kids are? Awful…..she must’ve been so worried sending them back home alone 😢 I agree it was the right thing to do, though. Thank God she had family support through all of this.
Wow, talk about a journey! So sorry you have had to deal with this. Just made a small donation. I know its not easy to ask for help, but we know that many small donations can make a big difference for you, so don't hesitate to ask.
You are brave to share your story and I thank you. People need to know what goes on in these countries. You sharing your story will probably help someone someday. Side note.. I hope we get an update about Mark the crooked lawyer!!
I’m so sorry about everything your family has gone through. Both you and your husband. What a traumatic experience. I understand your reservations with the GoFund Me but with everything that you have been through, it was complete injustice. You deserve everything that comes your way with the Go Fund Me and then some. I hope it helps you get on your feet and back to life. Also, please keep telling more of it. I think your story will intrigue people and bring more people to your go fund me. ❤
It’s so wild how healthcare works in other countries. I live in the USA and it is not like that at all. They treat you either way. My husband is from India and my mother in law was critically ill and same thing - No payment = no care. My husband had to make daily payments and extra for procedures. Americans don’t realize how good we have it. The last thing you want when you are that sick is to be worrying about payments every single day.
Please, people stop thinking the grass is greener on the other side (country) Just save your countries from full communism or you will be living this in your own country & and you won't have a place to escape to.
Of course they want you to see a psychiatrist because life happens and your mentally unstable right? I hate that word psychiatrist. Also, when given medication and anesthesia you wake up in shambles! I had a colonoscopy and wasn’t out to sleep but was given a good dose of mediation…. I was happy as a bird but that was just my reaction to the meds.

Yeah my brother can't ever use Remicade again because he made antibodies, but luckily there are many other kinds of drugs now than there used to be.
I'm so sorry for you! This has been really awful
