Exploring Abandoned Nike Missile Launch Site

We explore LA-88 Nike launch site. It was 1 of 16 Nike sites that ringed Los Angeles. This was the first Nike site equipped with the nuclear capable Hercules missiles. They extended the range a capability way beyond the Ajax. Ajax had a 25 miles range and the Hercules had a 100 miles range. They were used to defend strategic US cities from Russian bombers during the cold war. LA-88 was decommissioned in 1974. Nike systems were deemed incapable of defending US cites from the newer ICBM missiles.
I hopped to find some old coins left behind by soldiers but using my metal detector proved fruitless.
