Also in my experience of watching and just increasing my own middling speed, smooth gets faster "easier" than the type of folks that are all over the place yet fast. That style tends to plateau at a certain ability. Smooth tends to be able to find the line of speed and control easier I guess is what I am trying to say

Very true. It think I have to get better at using the whole track and especially be more consistent in my lap times.
