After my amazing failure on Thursday night on radials, there was a no prep race at Rockingham for Eric Malone's Fastest Cars of the Dirty South. So we found us some Hoosiers and headed down to Rockingham. This is part 1 of our day at the track! Tomorrow will be part 2 of Rockingham! Hmmmm, radials to slicks never thought I would say that for my car

We had fun, I was so nervous on the slicks
MUCH larger tuning window on the slicks. I personally HATE how they feel.... but... its what I have on my car cuz it’s much easier to make work on bad surfaces

Bolt that tire to the rim drop the pressure to 8 or so and get used to the wiggle

The guy in the white Mustang needs to line up straight and learn to stay in the groove. That's why his car is bent up. Usually takes 3 passes for M/T slicks to come in. Then they should be pretty consistent, but you gotta stay in the groove.

I've seen that guy in that white mustang on that tv show fastest car they was doing like a 4 or 5 car drag race and he went sideways across all the lanes at the top end and about hit a couple people and another tv show where they built that car I think
My buddy use to give me shit everytime he came to the track cuz I always had the radial on, he would say why the f***! are those still on the trailer ( the slicks) so I finally put them on and man wish I did it long time ago

Im so glad you finally put the bias plys on!!! How much A/S do you have in it?? My stang works best @ 110-125 depending on surface. But im like you, im not afraid to make a big swing and se what happens.... Im asking because, And I know it will sound counter intuitive, but when I had been running around 140 A/S it was getting off the line ab the same but was coming undone around 400-450 ft mark if it was a rally sketchy surface.....now Ikd if that was just me limiting the chassis out as its a true Back Half car.....but just my 2€ brother!! Got it doin the damn thang!!!
I didn't move any bars, still has 140ish. I did tighten the rebound to 10 clicks and loosened compression to 10 as well. It is still separating, but seems to do it slower like I was hoping.

Are you running bias up front? If not, mix matching bias and radials doesn't help the boat sway

John, how much tire pressure were you running. I run the 18175's and my car runs 158-162 in the quarter and it feels very stable. I know your car is faster, but I would imagine yours would feel more stable since you have a shorter side wall and bead locks.

The first pass was at 12 psi, the second pass at 13psi. But the last two passes you will see tomorrow were back at 12 for first round of the race, then 11.5 for the last pass. I think it is gonna end up at 10.5.
@@TurboJohnRacing Are you running tubes? If not they would definitely help with your car walking around like that. Also not sure about your Hoosiers if there a stiff sidewall,but Mickey's 3055S is a stiff sidewall and combined with tubes would probably help with some stability.

Have you tried a mt stiff sidewall slick. Lots of people told us to try them because they 60 harder than a hoosier and we liked them. But we was comparing a older hoosier to a new mt
Sidewall would take more hit for us
I have not ran slicks in over 5 years so I have no comparison.

Is this still the link setup from the last radial video where you changed it at the track. The really short setup?
Yes, I didn't move the bars. But did raise the ride height so that should have lowered the anti squat a little. But tightened extension and loosened compression on shocks.

We screwed it up. The middle line was ready with the bumper, we were pulling the tire to the first line that put the bumper at the second line with no bump left.
Turbo John where did you get your 4 lug bead lock r rims from, I’d like to have a pair for my 4 lug car?

@@TurboJohnRacing I know Jon Doc thinks radials are a superior tire and you have Radial vs The World races but show me a radial tire that's ever gone 3.62 ET in the quarter mile..

No, no and no. I was really disappointed with the turnout. There were only 7 cars total. And none of the cars (4) from the dirty south even entered the race. That was also disappointing to me.

I honestly don't even know what you are talking about? I have never called him a any names, hell I just met him. lol. The cars name is "The Nerd", I was hoping I could run beside him so I could see how my car was stacking up. We staged wrong, I had NO BOOST that is why I didn't leave when he did! You are crazy if you hold the wheel straight while the car is moving around! Show me that in car vid where you do it!
