Great tip, Y'all should have a big aquarium to show that bait rigging is different/better than a jighead. In addition, all of your ICAST interviews should be done at the tank where we can actually see the baits in action and not some rushed 45 second interview where a pro describes the action,
I've tried here in Brazil with larger baits, a 1/0 Hook and a little havier weigh (1/32 to a 1/16 Oz). It Works on casting the rig not Just under the boat as the japanese fellas do. Thanks guys
How does one do the hook set on this rig? Is it an upwards hook set as opposed to the typical horizontal to the side hook set? Because I recently did the side hook set using this and I feel like I just pulled it out of the bass' mouth and he got away
dont over think it, just reel and pull up at the same time with some firmness, you dont need to swing hard, think drop shop hook set, straight up, because you will be mostly using this vertically
Hover strolling is such a lightweight finesse technique that most anglers traditionally employ a spinning rod. However, with a heavy nail weight or oversized hover jig, some anglers may choose to use a casting rod.
Nice presentation. But, fluorocarbon has no stretch? I wish people would stop perpetuating this myth. ALL floro has stretch, from $40 Tatsu, to cheap generic stuff. Less than mono, yes, but definitely not none.
yes, it hovers...but hovers over what? unless you are specifically targeting a fish seen by FFS, you are not only fishing blind, but also slow....slow makes sense when you know it is right where the fish is, so, this is another "new" technique that is pretty much dependent on having FFS.
1. Fluoro has no stretch is simply not true. 2. Nail weight in the nose will make the bait nose dive, NOT fall or swim horizontally thus the nail weight should go thru the middle or body of the bait and only trial and error on the water can determine the exact spot to keep the bait horizontal.

I love Neko rigging a Yamamoto D Shad with a 1/32 oz nail weight but the hover rig looks better. I will have to try it out 😉
Great video. Good Presentation and excellent explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the info

Great to hear the larger sizes work! Thanks for watching

can you throw this setup with a baitcaster?

How to work it would be helpful.
I use a 3/8 Oz Minnow Style jig head and 7" Trick Worms and Flukes with great results..
Can you upload a video that is called How-To Set Up a Midstrolling Rig?
The new rig!
I think my big brother saw Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Santana at the San Diego Jam back in the 70s.
Cool!
So a Damiki rig?
Pretty much
Interesting….we call it the spine rig in Germany and hop it on the bottom. Deadly on perch….

I'm just curious why a san Diego knot out of all?
I been absolutely destroying them with this technique lately during fall season

Don't forget the super glue.
