OMG THEY FINALLY RELEASED THE ME90 FOR BASSISTS!!!
Mm that is not a “pedal” that is a complete starship control panel ….
It looks like a 4 channel sound system!!!😮
Set the controls for the heart of the sun and let's gooooooo!
Great vid showing what it can actually do with a real bass player demonstrating. Looks like octaver tracks fairly well.
That pedal looks and sounds fantastic!! Great playing by the bassist :)
Great video!! And great job, Boss! I am one of those who still like a knob I can turn. Sweet bass playing, from Mr. Lemke too. (he might give Frank a good run in the bassface dept :-)
WOW!!! I think I need this! I had been looking at the old Boss ME-50B. So nice to see they finally updated that unit. And like you, I like knobs!! I've owned a Zoom B1 Four and recently got a Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2 and prefer it because of the knobs. This Boss ME-90B has all that and more! I am not much on effects, but I love the versatility this brings and of course, the Boss name and reputation. Thanks so much for this demo.
Great Video! I have carried a TU-3 in my bag for years and years. Do I need another pedal? No. But I like Knobs and Switches as well...Damn you BOSS!
I got a boss ME50B as a Christmas gift back in 2010. I still keep it for sentimental reasons. I got a boss GT1000 core in 2021 and it sounds awesome but sometimes it takes time to dial it in.
This unit seems easy to dial in and I like the fact that it's for bass instead of the GT1000 core which it's primarily for guitar Wich a few bass FX added.
gosh I would need 4 years just to find the sounds I like not sure I would recover from that
Going to Japan for work next week and I'm 100% picking up one of these.
Mega! Ich will in den nächsten Monaten auch mal ein paar Effekte ausprobieren und weiß nie genau wo ich anfangen soll. Kann mir nach diesen Eindrücken gut vorstellen das "Boss Pedal" zu holen :D
Oh dang that groove at 3:45 is filthy
I have a Boss GT-1B, which can do pretty much the same thing including getting lost in the abyss of the menu. To upgrade my gear GAS I went for an HX Stomp. Together with the hx edit software you can create almost everything on the fly (without getting lost in the menu of the Stomp)
It's cool, not sure I would have any use for it though. Kai sounds great as always!
The ME series are my favorite Boss multi-effects pedals. So easy to use. No menus. Just checked the price at Sweetwater. Only $400. Great deal for what you get.
Awesome multi-effects processor 😎🤘🏻🎸 I’ve been checking this out recently and it sounds pretty cool. I personally liked the distortion and modulation effects as well as some of the amp models.
Had ME50B and it was awesome. Actually it still is and by seeing this, nostalgia hits hard. Btw, I wish they would release Defretter as separate pedal.
Wicked bass playing!
I have been waiting for this and never believed it would happen. Thanks boss
This may look old school compared to the GT1000, but I bet the workflow is faster and more satisfying. I was miserable dialing in sounds with the 1000 and ended up selling mine
I've been waiting for this since the release of the guitar version. Affordable AIRD for bass? I'm in.
I have the ME90 for guitar, it is a brilliant system. Grossly underrated
If you are into traditional boss pedals, this is the way to go
Sounds amazing.
Why am I watching this? I can't even afford dinner.
Nothing wrong with dreaming or window shopping.😃
Because that interest vs your situation is what can make you successful. You are not a complainer and blame placer, so you will get very far in life if you put your shoulder at it.
Sell one of your kidneys, I sold 2 kidneys.
It looks like a lot of fun.
Just ordered this beast
Interessante. Aqui no Brasil não chegou ainda eu acho.
Had me hooked in at the first preset. Wow.
Blend Knob is especially impressive to me. I also wonder how it would sound like with acoustic bass guitar, together with acoustic preamp and acoustic simulator.
How do I realize to choose a compressor, a chorus and an octaver at one time with this pedal?
Some effects are overlapping to other categories to make these combinations possible
Any idea what WAV file formats are supported in the IR loader for loading your own Impulse Reponses into the 3 user slots in the BOSS Tone Sudio? The manuals have no details and at the moment I'm using trial and error with different formats for various 3rd party Bass IR packs, all unsuccessfully.
Good news! I've tested with Own Hammer IR library (the Ampeg SVT library) all the way up to their 96 kHz 500ms samples, and also some IRs from Shift Line, and had no problems. Just one gotcha, you can only upload IRs into the 3 x User slots while the ME-90B is connected to the computer.
I have to say, using the IRs really improved a lot of the sounds over the default "SP Type = Original" quite significantly. With many sounds there is the high frequency noise which I found went away when I used any of the IRs I uploaded.
How do I adjust its noise suppressor tho?
Bc it's in the effects chain, but the manual says absolutely nothing about adjusting its treshold
You can adjust it in the Boss Studio App on your computer or through the app.
@@theprezenz yeah, I found out, but I can't get that dricer update done :/
Its come a long way since my ME-8 which was naff for bass.
Nice!! Yet another great guitar processor I cant afford to own.
Keep em coming
Gotta get the Zoom ms-60 b+ then-sounds just as good & costs less then half as much.
looks pretty solid , in deed.. Like a propor Roland/Boss device.
thanks for this.
are you reviewing any of the “new”.. Flight mini basses ?
These look fun. I’ll send them an email
Yes they do . I've ordered the TBL model, from Thomann. I'm waiting for it to be in stock.
I'll let you know how it feels, if I end up trying it before you do ;).
Thanks, by the way. Hehe
I first got into the mini basses when you showed the Mayones Cali.
But I was really turned on, when you reviewed the Tiny Boy ones, from Japan, specially because I wanted a fretless 5string.
But these are even more inexpensive, and easier to order. Thomann doesn't carry the TinyBoy brand, unfortunately.
PS: Flight also have the Mini JB bass SB model, but I wanted a neck carve/contour, on the TBL.
I'm curious as to whether they are going to be any good.
Cheers ;)
You were great in 'Help'!
I've had the boss gt1b since it came out and this is the time where I can say I understand it now hahahah so this new boss pedal Will be a lot easier to use
Getting back into bass . Not sure about this ,as I have the ME-8B and Zoom B3 . When I purchased the ME8-B it was complicated back in 1996. I also have the Roland Bass Microcibe RX which is good playing at home . I don't play in bands anymore ,so I may not need this 😊
Great!
I can feel a BassFace battle coming on...
😝😝
AHHHHHH I *just* got a B6 last week, and now this! (wailing, gnashing of teeth)
😂😂😂😂
Boss rules ❤❤❤❤
The pedalboard is OK, anyway I would need the hands of Kai. Are them on sale? 😅
What were the settings in that into riff?
Studio Bass Setting + the regular distortion
Have had the boss gt1b for a bit more than a year now and I'm pretty comfortable with it now. That being said, having to exit one menu before getting to another is quite annoying, so much that I ended up buying certain effect pedals separately. If I was in the market for a multi effects unit now, I would probably look at this one instead. 🤔
I was excited about this until I realized all the limitations. I have the same GT-B1 and can appreciate what you’re saying. However, this “new” pedal seems to force you in making a bunch of choices between effects. Also, the signal chain is fixed. I found altering my signal chain made a massive difference with certain sounds. It’s really bizarre to me that I have to choose between Reverb or delay or looping. But what’s way worse is having to choose between compression or octave. Based on the owners manual and multiple videos I’ve seen, no one is talking about this. I’m actually quite disappointed.
My GT-B1 with a Digitech FS3X couldn’t get a lot done. Nice thing about this Digitech pedal is that the third button turns on both control 1 and control 2 functions at the same time. Very handy when I want to sometimes turn to effect on at the same time and sometimes turn just one of them on. Also substantially cheaper than the boss extension pedals.
@@WorbyBass damn... and here I thought the overall look and higher price tag ment an improvement, compared to what I've gotten used to. But now that you mentioned it, seems like they replaced one annoyance with another. Totally agree with you, changing the order is not something I would want to miss, among other things. Thanks for your insights!
@@sync1216 hey there. I got a reply from another channel that shows there are ways to make those effects work. Not sure about signal chain yet, but this is back on my radar. Here’s the reply. I got from the other channel.

Hey great questions and thanks for watching! I initially thought the same thing about the comp or octave but in the Mod bank there is another Comp to chose. As demonstrated in the video you can reverb and delay
independently switchable by selecting delay in the Mod bank and reverb in the Del/Rev. Bank.
I didn't investigate the looper too much but you could definitely use delay and looper, and via the tone studio app there might be somewhere else you could assign reverb.
Thanks!
Downgraded from a GT-1000 to an ME-90 and use it every day. The A-I-R-D engine is a huge upgrade from the ME-80. Love BOSS. Great review. Best Regards and Best Wishes!.
it can't do the darkglass thing, can it?
Well, according to the manual the DARK DRV setting in the AMP/EQ section is a simulation of the B7K. It would be interesting to hear how it sounds.
This duded right-hand vibrato is insane.
Do you still have the fenders precisions made in mexico??
Nope
its a new version of my old Boss me-50b
Incredible! Very impressive! Best Bass multi effect since the Boss GT-6B!
Ooooh. Maybe I have an upgrade path from my Boss GT-6B.
A friend of mine is blind and has an awful time with modern pedal boards because of the all digital interfaces. This will be perfect for him.
$400 is a great price point for this, considering the cost of Boss’ pedals separately. I’ll be getting this soon
I am a proud owner of the ME50B for over 10 years. I have been looking forward to an upgrade. But this ME90B is just a modern toy that can do the job. I was hoping for a more compact and versatile product. There are not that many multi effect options on the market for bass players. I would love to see a finished all-in-one dedicated to bass. Boss almost did it this time.
Line 6 helix stomp?
You should at least give it a try if you have and STILL use the Boss ME-50B today like me,..just see how it does differ and the improvement Boss has made on the concept of the ME series!! I plan to keep using my ME-50B because it’s still bought new just a few years ago!😃 (I an🇺🇸residing in Tokyo, Japan🇯🇵thus lucked up and found it still in it’s brand new box in stock @a Music Shop in Osaka!! So,..the only owner!! b(‘_
@@FlamesAt1000ft
I wish that a Hotone Ampero II Stage and a Darkglass A.D.A.M. had a child and named BOSS as godfather.
Because I'm keeping my kidney I'm not going to get a Neural. 😅
MoonSwatch Speedy 😍
finally i can replace my dying ME-50b
Something else I've learned as I delved deeper... This is a minor thing, but if you are trying to setup a delay with a VERY specific ms timing (e.g. to match backing track/sequence with specific tempo), the ME-90B only lets you set Delay Time in 10ms increments, e.g. 440ms, 450ms, 460ms, etc. So if you have a song with 116bpm tempo and want a matching 464ms delay - you can't :(
From the manual it seems that you can set the time yourself through the pedal
Damn why no balanced outs
There’s a balanced XLR out
@@basstheworldofficiali didnt see it in thomans description so i decided to be an idiot instead of using my eyes and ears
Have a good one Gregor
❤❤❤
I assume that this has a tuner built in?
Yes
Super duper
I have a complete pedalboard already, otherwise I'd totally buy this
What happens when it breaks
You mean like in 2 pieces? 😉
My concern is it looks like you have to make a lot of sacrifices. Like compression OR octave. Loop OR delay OR reverb. That’s the way the owners manual makes it seem. Maybe I’m wrong… but this seems like a step down from the old GT-1B. With that pedal, you can organize your signal chain anyway you want. This has a fixed signal chain. The effects I mentioned, you can have them all on at the same time. It’s like a 20-year-old pedal with a minor face lift. So far no reviewers are talking about this whole area of sacrifice. It’s a critical thing people should know about!
I just noticed this as I took a closer look. Weird that the Octave and Compressor are on the same knob. Do you need to choose one over the other?
@@thomasfioriglio hey there. I got a reply from another channel that shows there are ways to make those effects work. Not sure about signal chain yet, but this is back on my radar. Here’s the reply. I got from the other channel.

You can modify the chain in the computer
The upgrade from COSM to AIRD is more than significant. You could spring for the GX100 or GT1000 if you need to get around the limitations of the ME90b. There are a couple of work-arounds though.
Not true. You can get Delay and Reverb together and Comp & Octave together but you have to put Octave on the Expression Pedal. The front panel is so intuitive you shouldn’t even need the manual.
I'll stick with my GT-1B but cool
Incomprehensible front panel, at this point might as well make it a desktop FX module.
Boss just seems like "old music gear you find in your uncle's closet" aesthetics, even in 2024
Strange design choice.
Wow, the price blew me away. Only 400 € for all this stuff. Okay, it's a clear option for me if my pedalboard were no longer there for whatever reason.
Great demo, only problem I have is the volume between your dialogue and the sound demos themselves are so different that I'm constantly turning my volume up and down to hear either clearly
that's an issue we're dealing with constantly, but there's no real solution. The volume differences are depending on the system you're using to watch the video. TV's and AirPods make speech louder, proper speakers or headphones give the normal volume. We're mixing in a way trying to accommodate everyone as good as we can, but it's a challenge
i use the me 70 for my bass, and the 80 for the guitar
It's got nothing on my ART Bass Command Center Multi-Effect. ^__-
Man, it's a shame, that the design is still from the 80s... :D Othervise nice concept. Boss always delivers.
I would argue this design is purely functional. not sure what you'd want to change.
Thank God they didn't use those fucking silver dots. I hate them haha.
No aux input unusable
“Weird dude energy”…… search it
Looks stupidly complicated.
Very easy to use.
It's Boss, it's Easy!😊
a user interface for something like this couldn't be designed any more intuitive
Yeah... nice... if you need an amp, a filter and mod. If you want chorus, flanger, delay and shimmer... bye, bye, baby...
This seems like the obnoxiously giant pedal the bass player brings to band practice and only uses 1 setting or is siper annoying constantly fiddling with knovs rhe whole time not finding a good sound..
If you’re only using 1 sound, this is not the right pedal.
I love pedals more than is healthy, but there is a time and a place for knob fiddling, and rehearsal is not that time.
Just when i assumed Boss has forsaken US Bassists STILL using our trusted tried & true ME-50B Multi-FX units even today!(mine is still practically brand new and its my Main Go To,..for gigs these days even..😁👌🏾✨🎛️) ,…Boss finally tempts us to update with this thing I’m salivatin’ over now❣️‼️😂🤣Seems the new ones for Guitar & Bass may be on my list!! b(‘_
