I greatly respect your honesty and your decision to possibly "take the hit" for speaking with integrity for the end-users within out hobby. I know that this was not a decision that you made lightly and without moral standing. This kind of honesty is what sets you apart from many other reviewers within the space. One question, is it possible to use an ESC configurator to move over to BlueJay or any other currently licensed and supported firmware? This still does not solve the main issue that is at hand for many of the newer pilots to the hobby, but it would be nice to know if there are ways to perhaps move towards a safer and more supported option for the end users who have the knowledge of how to do this. You are the man, Ian!
It could be flashed with AM32 but it's not a simple task for users. Bluejay is for 8bit escs. This is 32 bit. Sadly It's not possible to flash by usb and would require being done by pin pads on each esc one at a time. It's possible yes but it's not a task I suggest users perform tbh.
@@MadRC Thanks for the reply! I have only done ESC configuration on whoops so that's why I asked about Bluejay. I will be sure to note that information for the future. That certainly sounds like an arduous task and not a reliable solution for new users by any means.
If you care about sub250g this is a great option, if you don't, it's seriously underpowered. Those 1404's are what we usually see on 2.5" cinewhoops...
You're so lucky to have such a beautiful spot to fly in. That is gorgeous. You can really see that how Mother Nature has had its way with the coastline. Beautiful.. I would guess that it's an area where the wind never stops. Thanks for all that you do..
How do you do it? I’m trying to flash one of my 4in1 esc’s to am32 but I don’t know which version to flash. I’ve found where my signal wire routes to -pa6 I think.
9:19 Just a small thing to point out, that's more than likely the new package for the AT7456E OSD IC! They've been making their way to more and more boards recently, it's practically the same silicon, just in a smaller package 😊
I gotta say.. you can always count on Ian to fall on the grenade. ..In all fairness, I doubt most of the other reviewers noticed the grenade rolling in. 😄
Thanks Ian for the review, I like it but that 150g weight will be with very specific batteries from GNB or similar that weigh little, as for BLHELI32 for my part I don't care, its creator should be screwed after what he did to the community, he still said he was working to fix it and we never heard from him again. A test firmware is a pain, but he released versions with bugs to the public, let's not forget, greetings and thank you very much for your time.
You have to understand BLHeli has zero choice. You may feel it it's fair to blame him but when the whole story comes out eventually you will see they were the victim as much as users. They had no choice here. Let me word it this way. If your doors were kicked in and you were given a choice to stop now and never touch it again or go to Jail now what would you do ? The fact is BLHeli could not arrange their SW was not being used used by manufacturers in Ukraine and as a result fell under local sanctions.
I love my v1 but the frames were fragile. I use it for flythroughs with a naked 11 on top and an 1100 battery. Presumably you can flash the esc? With bluejay but might need tuning afterwards. Step fwd Chris Rosser? Would like this with 04 as indoors inside gyms, theatres and the like it is not a good camera. The avata2 smashes those conditions though

Saludos excelente como siempre mucha info sabes por que tengo algunas vibraciones en mi pavo 20 recién cambie el frame por el pro y motores 1104 y siento que en esa configuracion tengo algunas vibraciones 😢
@geprc very disappointing to see such a poor excuse blaming others for shipping Blheli32. Please make the effort to tune your quads when you change the configuration, and if there is concerns after this process, please engage with the developers of the AM32 project for a resolution

Enjoyed the review, not sure about the licensing of Esc would really being an issue for the individual hobbest. just saying…. I like it, that won't stop me from buying one.. You know win the O3 came out they said that was the end of vista, didn't happen, now they say 04 will end the O3, i not sure i agree.
@MadRC Fugasi Ethics at best Just leave them alone, please. We got enough cops in this world. Just stick to reviewing s***... I'm in a bad mood too, but I take it out on my politicians. I've been flying in rotary wings since like 1995, when gyros had black brass wheels in them, spinning round and round.
@MadRC And I should. Also add, I'm trying to develop a repeatable air frame, including the electronics, and I just want this to end as quickly as possible. Things like this always happen in bad times if we had economic good times somebody would be making them already.
Here's the thing. bL-heli isn't in business anymore so there's no harmed party. Second I'm sure Geprc has spent at least a reasonable amount of money on R&D on that platform with them and that AIO developing it. So they're not going to loose all that money and then reinvest the same time developing AM32 or the like again until they make sure the product is profitable in the first place. Bottom like BL-heli packing up shop without warning isn't the fault of manufacturers who've invested time and money on that ecosystem and it sure shouldn't be expected that they eat that cost especially not right away.

Thank you for your honesty.
I saw couple of videos but no one mentioned about BLheli 👍
The WTFPV option just means it comes without a camera & VTX. (Without FPV perhaps?)
Yea correct. They did not tell me this upfront.
BYOFPV LOL.
Great review as always. The esc firmware basically leaving you stuck puts this one in the “hard pass” category for me. Especially at the price
I've been looking for one like this, but I agree about the BL32 software. What 3" would you recommend?
Is like the flywoo flylens85 🙃
On a different note, does it look like the 04 would drop straight in, wondering if they will offer it as an option when released.
Thanks!

Wonder, if the final version will be corrected.

@ thanks Ian, i wouldn’t take the task on. Mental they have use unsupported f/w
Clearly heavily influenced by the fly lens 85. Looks good, but I'm skeptical of the durability. Thanks Ian..
Think that's the first time a drone company thinks about the end user with placing the USB for easy access.
Actually, the Speedybee Bee25 did it before this one.

You hate on bl32 but fcc hacks are fine (wtfos).
Hacks to give additional functionally are completely different from manufacturers selling products with unlicenced software.
