Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed the video. What do you think of my list? Are there villages that you think I missed? What communities would you like to see featured next?
Love how specific you are! Grew up and lived in Vancouver, my family is moving to the island so I will follow soon. Thank you for helping me learn the different areas. Currently looking at detached in Quadra Hillside area
Another great video, thanks, professional and informative as always. I'm currently working my way through all if not most of your videos, I mentioned on one of your other videos that we're planning a move from Scotland in the next 5 years or so, do you have videos covering schools and hospitals? the reason I ask is that when we eventually move my partner will work in the medical profession and our son will be middle school age, so we'll be looking for somewhere with a reasonable commute to schools and hospitals all the while maintaining good availability of amenities.
Hi Anita, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! There will be plenty more features like this about our great city! Thanks for the feedback - I'll be sure to do more of that moving forward!
Hi i lived in Victoria for 5 years back in the 1980's. I lived in Esquimalt in the west bay neighborhood not far from the towne centre the only you forgot to mention was Saxe pointe park probably my favorite park in Victoria. Thanks for the great video.
Thanks Michelle! I actually am in the process of making a video about the best parks in Victoria and Saxe Point is at the top of my list. We live about 2 blocks from Saxe Point Park now! 😃
Your vid is very helpful. I'm planning to make a permanent move from Toronto to Victoria. These villages are what I'm looking for. I'm coming for a week in July/2023. Can't wait to see all these places.
There are tons more outside of this list that make Victoria one of the most livable cities in Canada IMO. Hopefully you will see some of that when you visit!
You missed the Quadra Village with a Grocery Store, Drug Store, Liquor Store, Second Hand Store, Dollar Store, and even a Theatre, with lots of Restaurants such as the 5th Street Bar and Grill, and a few blocks away from the Crystal Pool, Save-on-Foods Arena, Royal Athletic Park, and even a Gas Station which are hard to find in Downtown Victoria.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. I enjoyed it. I am making a trip to the island in September. I can't wait! What are some of the good restaurants in Cook St Village?
Yes Cook St is the best! But Broadmead being merely a strip mall 10km from downtown, I think you're remiss to not mention Goldstream village in Langford - a proper friendly high density suburb with more amenities in short walking distance than any of the other cute neighbourhood villages you've mentioned. It is more like 13km from downtown though, but also on the Galloping Goose, the new 50 Express bus from Vic downtown soon, and countless restaurants and indy shops. There is also Cordova Bay village in Saanich including Matticks Farm (where I used to live) which has more character than Broadmead mall and is right on Lochside trail.
Hey there! Greatly appreciate this feedback! Mattick's Farm was definitely in the mix but I didn't feel the Red Barn (grocery element) and lack of a pharmacy made it a great option for this list. Definitely hear you on the Goldstream Village. I suspect in years to come that will feel more like sections of downtown Victoria feel now and is probably more urban than what I was targetting on this list. All the same I appreciate you bringing awareness for anyone that's curious about these areas!
I was expecting Cadboro Bay to be number one given your history, but I can’t argue with Cook Street Village in top spot. It’s the neighborhood where all newly-divorced dads move.
Post office , grocery store, gas station, Timmy’s, Starbucks, thrift store, pharmacy, book store , liquor store, normal restaurant, bank, and bathrooms -somewhere.

Hey Alex, thanks for the feedback! Don't hesitate to reach out with any other Victoria questions!
Very informative Alex. We are moving to Langford in the fall, great to see a video that shows up all the cool places.
Thanks for the feedback Mark! There are lots of great places to visit in the Westshore as well
Another great video, thanks, professional and informative as always.

Excellent video, very informative and well done. You are cute when you smile and look into the camera :)

Bit of a subjective list. Not my personal favourite but its definitely getting better
Thanks for sharing your perspective. I enjoyed it. I am making a trip to the island in September. I can't wait! What are some of the good restaurants in Cook St Village?
Wine Collective and Pizzeria Prima Strata are great! The Beagle is awesome for more casual eats.
@@AlexCarroll Thanks for the tips. Your video was very informative.

Cook Street Village sounds great!
It’s a fantastic hub of activity!

It was tough not to give Cadboro bay the nod, but wanted to try and speak outside my own bias as much as possible. Appreciate the feedback Russell!
ooh hello! i might date there then on my holiday.
