Just moved here. I’ve lived all over Ontario and in the lower mainland and I’m just brown away by the beauty. The streets are incredibly clean and well maintained by the city. People take great pride in home ownership and it shows! Love it here.
Couldn't agree more Alex. My wife and I absolutely love Victoria. We went out there from Ontario in 2019 looking for the perfect neighbourhood to move to in 2020, then the pandemic happened. So here we are now a few years behind schedule but looking forward to FINALLY getting out there this year! Can't wait to call ourselves Victorians! See you for a beer on one of those patios! All the best and continued success to you.
It’s solid. The data is a little sparse but my first hand experience or stories I’ve heard about specialists (cardiology, cancer clinic, unique surgeries, etc) has always been good.
14th thing. No mosquitos or black flies in Victoria. Compare that with anywhere in Canada where you have to spray your entire body and face just to go for a bike ride most summers.
@@AlexCarroll I walk everyday on the Colquitz River trail and the Glendale Trail which takes me up to the Interurban Trail which at that point I turn back, still a 2 hour walk.
Should I come here alone for a job? I’m 24 and feel like I’m going to have a tough time breaking out into the city and making friends. Also renting alone is going to cost me quite the pretty penny
I think if you’re willing to put yourself out there and go to social events it’s quite easy to make friends here! But I do hear you on the rental piece. Housing is a big issue here.
Don't do it. I have lived here for 20 years. If you don't have rich parents, you'll never buy a house or really save money. The city will bleed you dry.
The rental market is definitely tight but depending on your budget and flexibility with location I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to find a place to live
Two storey Canadian Tire's, Walmart's, palm trees in Canada !! Dont like the weather, drive 15min to completely different !! Seattle rains, Vancouver rains, Victoria is different !! Berries everywhere, you'll never go hungry !! Diversity is beyond understand, every culture, every language on the planet is here !! Ppl, lots to do, lots to see, amazing views, rent and mortgages similar to Windsor Ontario, Toronto, London, unattainable to way too many !! Stay safe and stay happy !!
It used to be back in the 1960s and early 1970s. I am 5th generation Victorian and have watched the place become nothing but over priced for the rich and those who just love it when they visit and move here and then get into changing it to the very thing they left behind. To see it happen is heart breaking . For those of you that are new ,you don't see it . I am looking to move away from my families long history with this place called Victoria when we came it was Camosun and a HBC Fort. Where the Empress Hotel is now was a mud bay. And the walk way was called the Bird cage walk now the place that they threw Capt Cook into the drink. Fact is Victoria today is no longer home it was . Even going to town isn't a pleasure anymore that went in the the 1990s along with Harpo's Blues club
I totally agree. having lived in Toronto 54 out of 56so far years Victorina is my favorite city in Canada and I have visited it 5 times so far the last one being in September 2021. the waterfront and Beacon Hill park are amazing. all the big city amenities are in downtown Victoria and a short walk away are vibrant neighborhoods. Vancouver is very nice but it's a big city like Toronto. I think the high housing costs and the limited job opportunities keep more people from moving there. best of all the summers are not humid like in Toronto where it's muggy right know.
Its very very pretty. But its unlivably expensive for everyone but the elite. My partner and i lived a middle class life there for a decade. Couldnt even begin to look at a house and were renovicted a couple times. The wealthy retirees live in large 3 bedroom houses and the young families and working people are crammed into apartments. I worked i. Real estate for my last 7 years there so i saw it every day. We moved away and bought a home in 6 months. Victoria is a nice place to visit and a great example of what's gone wrong with our society.
Major crisis from here to Vancouver. Drug epidemic is very real here. Definitely tried to highlight this one in my video about things I “hate”. Check it out! Thanks for the feedback
Great video! But I don't think it's the best city in Canada. Housing price is way too absurd for a place that had extremely low productivity. Grocery price is also higher than mainland. Yet we still have the charming Pandora camping area. With all the perks listed in this video, I think Victoria is an average city in Cananda.
This video is true and Victoria is a beautiful place but dont be tricked into thinkings its paradise. Crime still exists in all forms and there is a serious narcotics and overdose issue on all social levels, most notably in the downtown areas.
i found victoria really boring. the downtown was so lack luster considering how much money that city prbly has. the only thing it has going for it is the weather. I like mainland BC so much better than the island
Let me know if you agree with me! Is Victoria BC the best city in Canada? If not, WHAT IS??? and WHY??? 😀
Can you do a video on the feasability of a CFL team in Victoria?
@@Kongohh Would push for an atlantic team before Victoria.
@@AlexCarroll sorry sir, is it easy to get residence permit with my visit visa there??

i cannot afford a home
At least you are subsidising billionaires
Looking to escape Toronto please let me know more about Victoria

Sounds good Jeff! Plans get derailed but it all sounds like it will work out in the end. The city will be glad to have you!
I had to leave Victoria for a smaller city in Vancouver Island because I couldn't find a job in my field. I' so glad to be back again.
I'am from Québec and i live at Victoria since more then 2 years now and i'am agreed with you it's the best place to live in Canada.
Thank you for the feedback! Glad you are enjoying life here!
Cool I didn’t know that about the medica field in Victoria!

Good one!
Same with ticks, one place in Canada that hasn't had them yet in full force. Walked a small trail in Windsor, with about three of them in an hour !!
I live in Saanich which i really like and have been there almost 30 years.
A lovely community that's convenient and connected to nature! I grew up in Saanich and loved it!

Great video. Thinking of making the move from Vancouver for a more reasonable housing price with similar weather.
Better weather in most cases! Thanks for the feedback
Now it makes sense why I seen a guy running around acting crazy in sax point

I will go on 2024
Im international student in UVic intake May 2024 is there lot of jobs there ??
There are plenty! Best place to check is indeed.com I think!

What do you miss most about the Old Victoria you mention that you don’t see today? The cost of living? Or something else?
I want to move there next year.. can please someone tell me more ❤

Major issue right now is the homeless population, not giving the police enough resources and left or far left governments. EG Lisa Helps.

Fair feedback Phil. Nice places don’t come without their downsides. But I would contend the good overpowers the bad here

Fair feedback Mike! Although I would say this is the case in many of Canadas larger cities
Hii brother where can I find affordable accommodation ..
Not much of that here! Best places for rentals are Facebook marketplace, used Victoria, rentals.ca
Too expensive
