I love how the nine club focuses on my generation of skaters. This dude was the first dude I saw nollie heel noseslide down a hand rail doesn't get enough credit for what he did for the game.

I met Jerry in a high school parking lot in Okemos, Michigan during a Maple demo in 1997. He was sitting alone, wearing the super sick purplish Jamie Thomas Emericas and was incredibly kind. He proceeded to show us his switch frontside flips and nollie backside flips while Donger grinded up, across, and down the local skateshop's rail/ pyramid contraption ( the footage ended up in the 411 tour article!) I was a Jerry fan from that day on for sure.

Jerry Hsu is hands down, without a doubt, the single most entertaining skater to watch bail. I've seen clips of this man sacking himself in ways you wouldn't think were possible.

Hsu seems like such a cool dude to skate with. I remember being completely blown away at the Stay Gold premiere when his part was just switch trick after switch trick

Growing up, I wasn’t really into Kelly Hart, but watching a lot of these nine clubs, he’s a skateboarding encyclopedia and always ask skate fan questions. Gotta respect it
I've only ridden a board maybe 15 times in the last 10 years, but I have to say these videos are the best thing I've seen in years. I've always said to people the happiest times of my life were either riding a skateboard or spending time with the people I met through it. Thanks guys for helping bring back those special feelings that have always tucked away in my heart.

Always awed by Jerry’s take with skating. Super flexy ,RAW and fun. Never knew how hard he worked for it, meaning he made it look so easy and natural but wicked. All these pros want it.They keep getting up!
Jerry's voice is so calm and soothing. He would honestly make such a great trip partner, in case one needs to be soothed from a panic attack.

I've been emailing Baker boys dist trying to get them to release a Baker box set but I think J Strickland isn't going to let that happen
I've got a huge collection of old vhs skate vids and I use a Sony vhs player that still works great. I would love to be able to rip it all to digital though, so much classic goodness.

i tell this story all the time to this day. i was at this osiris demo in like 98-99 and all the pros make their way out of the van and just kinda chill and warm up. jerry hsu blasts out of the van and immediately switch hardflips over the biggest pyramid at the park. i was blown the fuck away and a jerry hsu fan for life.

Been a long time coming but wellllllllllll worth the wait - Jerry has been legendary status since Osiris the Storm days, still remember meeting him when their tour came through Utah and there was the shittiest setup behind salty peaks. We got to party with some of the team at an after party in Sandy where some rich kid had a miniramp and we were all so scared to even say hello or anything - still remember that shit!
Jerry Hsu has the best crouch in the game, whether going into or coming out of a trick.
yeah and I even dig, cause I know some folks that don't, that funny pre-trick hand thing he does. I remember he had my favorite part in the storm, and I was away from skating from like 01-08 and (yeah, yeah, yeah) I got back into it, I'm lookin' folks up, and I'm like, "i wonder if Jerry Hsu is still around...?" hahaha

Awesome! I've been a huge Jerry Hsu fan since the Black Cat days.
Jerry must have a resting heart rate of around 18. Guy is so sedate. Which makes some of his angry outtakes that much more interesting.
This is a really great series. I skated for about 5 minutes as a kid. It just wasn't my thing. I was mainly into "ball" sports (for lack of a better word), but also snowboarded a bunch as a teenager. I can still remember flipping through Burton catalogues in the late 80s, no internet, and being fascinated with all that I saw. Kind of similar to skateboarding before extreme sports became mainstream. It was soooo hard for a kid to get your hands on much of anything.
Anyway, I really enjoy hearing from all these older legends who were out there practicing, having fun, being creative and doing it for the sheer joy and passion. No way of knowing if they'd make a career/living out of it. So many of the guys on this series, despite somewhat checkered/wild pasts, seem humble, down-to-earth, and genuinely happy to be alive and still skating.
With so much insanity going on in the world these days, nice to see guys who pursued something they loved and that it worked out and they're thankful for what they have. It honestly gives me a few minutes of peace & happiness.
I remember being hyped on Jerry when I used to see his NC Clothing ads in old Logic videos I'd purchase at Best Buy. .
Stay Gold came out in like 2010... but its okay he's the man, one of my first favorite parts ever in that video.

Jerry’s rad! I met him back in ‘99 or so. Me, Jerry, Colby Carter, probably Randy Colvin and a few others got to skate the Chandler skatepark before it opened, kinda a weird demo feeling, but Jerry was super nice. I introduced myself and he thanked me for doing so- cool dude! Good style.
