Surprised, you did not lock the bolts with the metal tabs to prevent loosening!
Here we have entire houses done in flex (CSST). Was banned for a while but not since years ago, ever since they came up with the bonding clamps. I have a Bosch C1210ESC tankless in my own house with black iron and a drip leg on the bottom, nipple running to the side to a street elbow, a valve, and another street elbow, and then the CSST adapter. So it's essentially flex to black iron to the appliance, rather than black iron to flex into the appliance.
I like the new guy. He seems to have good maniacal skills already and fallows directions well. Why is he named after a character from a Disney movie though? He needs a good nickname and soon.
The 3 flat washer pieces that you were having issues with are meant to be turned the other way as they were from factory. After you tighten the bolt you are supposed to bend that tab up against the flat edge on the head of each bolt.. it acts as a lock to keep the bolt from vibrating loose. 👍🏻 good work guys!
at 26:44 those are locking tab washers, meant to have the tabs bent up against the bolt head after proper torquing, so they cannot back out from the heat cycling.
if they back out you get "ka-boom" action like when leaving the bolt loose/cross threaded.
I was watching the video and noticed he was putting the bolt locks upside down when installing that tall cylinder. I thought I'd look and see if anybody else caught that and somebody did.
Navian entered the chat and is taking notes on how to keep heat exchanger screws from backing out. 🤣 🤣
ahh maybe the screws on mine have loosened since i am starting to get a louder than normal startup i was going to check igniter i will have to look at the bolts holding the burner
@@ranger178 the ignitor/flame sense rod on tankless domestic hot water, hydronic heating or combo units really should be checked and cleaned about every 6 months.(assuming spark ignitor type)
they have a high cycle rate compared to most everything else.
Also depending on gas and air quality they can get buildup pretty fast, causing flame sense failures and delayed ignition(thump/boom).
you'll want to keep spare gaskets and an ignitor/flame rod or two(most have ignitor/flame sense combined).
the smoother it lights, the less gas is wasted on each startup and of course, no booming.
I didn't do any cleaning or anything to my ultra for 15 years and when i opened it i had no dirt it was clean slight corrosion of aluminum door and combustion chamber at bottom but the stuff just washed down into the drain never had any booming ignition till i took it all apart cleaned it couldn't find any dirt and put all new gaskets in and a new ignitor it was fine for a year now it is doing it this heating season so i figure the screws loosened that hold combustion chamber . mine has just Philipps screws I think i dont believe it had locking tabs @@throttlebottle5906
Thank you for the second shout out Mike, Lol.
I was just told about your channel when dealing with a Navien issue at my fiancés home last week that ended up having a bad board and internal circ pump failure on an NCB-240.
That first video at this home was the second video I watched from your channel.
As for that home I did the lighting system in that house and also flip flopped two other radiant zones that were incorrectly wired on the second floor.
They did not want to pay so no other AV work was completed there and equipment that began to be installed was taken out.
The house was turned over to them in December of 2020, which was the last time I was there.
The PoolPak is a three phase unit which was not part of the initial engineering specs for that pool room and being three phase is not available in Hewlett Harbor a single phase to three phase converter had to be installed on the side of the home among all the AC condensers.
After the turn over not sure who they have had in there for servicing or additional work as the outdoor kitchen was not yet built at that time but I’m speaking with other trades similar situation to what you stated at beginning of this video regarding non payment.
The top of those spiral satairs is the attic which lookks like they finished the entryway part of it but all the mechanicals for HVAC exhaust hood draft inducers are up there to the left and right.
I enjoy your videos and attention to details! Keep them coming!
Mikey Pipes! The flame rod/ignitor gasket is in the sentinel x test kit box that comes with the maintenance kit!
It’s there it’s like an Easter egg. It’s in the package of the ph stripes or whatever it is. I said the same thing until I found them
the newer ultras come with a coating on heat exchanger to prevent corrosion, so they don't want you to use metal cleaning tool and scratch it my older one from 2008 didn't have that coating and it is all chewed up now from condensation in bottom of exchanger unit
Love the vanity plate Mike!
Nice work fella's
Amazing video
Awesome video Mikey Pipes. Great content. I personally don't work on that type of equipment but still enjoy watching. Knowledge is key.
Beat me to it… damn
excellent job 🤟
Mikey pipes, love the video
Well done
Very good
the flap on the tab the boilt went in to is to stop the boilt frome coming out with hat and cold so you need to push the tabs up to stop the boilts from coming out
Nice one
love the monster boston guy as well. Amazing the regional code changes from state to state!
Lol you a.good dude man.....I really like your videos
Soo nice video
Fantastic
Soo good
That flame rod gasket comes in the kit with the test strips.
Very cool video... I was hoping to come home and have a distraction even if for just a few minutes....
11:30 Here in Texas it can all be flex lines into the permanently installed fixtures! No drip legs are required either where we are at in north Texas. 🤠👍
Pex central station of the year! So perfect.
Yep..When in doubt, read the manual........
Best video
mikey pipes we need u here at Astoria queens
Keep it up
yep, typical weil mclain aqua plus tanks. the label badge glue turned to ooze and they're laying off on the floor or twisted sideways and sliding down the tank. they seem to do that within 3 to 8 months from new ( or did) but probably still does. not sure why, but I assume off gassing/reaction of the glue to jacket/insulation. that and webstone air separator soft dome labels falling off. lol
Oh and commercial dryers need to be hard piped no flex hoses in NYC
Metal tabs on burner are there to prevent the screws from backing out. Should have been up not down.
yeah, bend them up against bolt heads after tightening them, those are locking tab washers meant to keep the bolts from backing out with heat cycling. if they back out the equivalent of the crooked/stripped bolt and loose burner will happen (ka-boom! startups and backfiring)
The gasket for the flame rod comes in the sentail x100 water test kit. Should be in the box.
You may have already found the new gasket for the ignitor, but if not it's inside the little package for testing PAYou may have already found the new gasket for the ignitor, but if not it's inside the little package for testing P H
Good ♥️
Nice vid! Love watching ya. One suggestion with a expensive house n boiler like that is to follow that torque spec closely on the gasket. Says 50 inch pounds. Should have a small torque wrench n do properly. Hey u always say if ur not testing ur guessing, we’ll just letting him willy nilly tighten down ur guessing, just saying mr pipes 😉
2020 NYS Fuel Gas Code 411.1 and NYS residential code G2422.1 both allow a listed flexible connector for boilers and heaters. In the old days they were prohibited. I still prefer to see rigid connectors, but flexible are indeed allowed per state code. If prohibited, it would be a local and not a state requirement.
Happiness is a Ridged Tool
The tabs are up to prevent the bolts from turning and loosening
seeing two indirect tanks and no thermostatic mixing valves, I'm guessing they have one for domestic usage at 120F and the second at say 140F for dish washer, laundry, cleaning?
but they could both be at 120F in conjoined or separate feeding separate things in the house. hard to say without a diagram/tracing things.
thinking further, one could be used as storage/buffer for heating... hmm too many possibilities come to mind. lol
Mike just became wa wa wa con Klk!!!!
My thought would be the tabs would be up as the tabs are bent up to act as a lock washer.
Well, McLain makes a tool to clean the heat exchanger on this unit. Looks like a flat metal bar with a handle.
Cool🔥
I’ve watched a shit load of your videos. Every one I learned something from you. This is the only video that I actually could of helped you lol. Not hating. Nuttin but luv bro. Thanks for the videos. I’ve become a better tech because of you. And Peter. Not this guy that’s camera shy lol. MAKING THE TRADES GREAT AGAIN.
Did you find out why the pool room heat no worky???
The gasket for the flame rod normal comes in the kit. Least the kit I had did. Must of forgot hours!
Not bad
Out before sunrise. Oh hell no
Woww
Mike the reason why the metal on bolts to hold burner is to secure bolt from getting loose. The metal acts like a lock washer.
When it is bent up, it doesn't allow the hex nut to spin
What Frank B said! 👆👆👆👆👆
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Where’s the NEUTRALIZER for that highly Acidic condensate?
Those tabs are to secure the nut and make sure they don’t back out over time
Mike they don’t include the sentinel or the lip conversion anymore.
7/16 socket on 10mm, the whole machine is all metric thread and fasteners I believe, including the hey keys. the impact is likely helping knock the nuts threads loose, instead of pulling/breaking the studs off. overtightening of them on service can cause the threads to gal and become stuck (assuming it's stainless on stainless). proper torquing during reassembly will prevent thread issues. 😁
NYC 😍
The tabs are supposed to to be up so the bolts don't loosen up
It will be in the bag, small. It’s early missed
399k is a big boiler for residential.....in the commercial/industrial world......thats a wee little lass. 😆 🤣 😂. When you work on 1500 hp boilers.....then we are talking big boilers. When your boiler is the size of a school bus....thats a big boiler. Not knocking you at all. That was a clean mechanical room
PS- put an ultra thin layer of anti seize on the flange face....makes it quite a bit easier to remove in the future.
Mike let me come work for ya pal
Dimish.... might be a new nickname for someone.
With the cost of the kit and labor on that, better off with a draft induced non condensing boiler
Yo Mikey!!! I've even had Weil Mclain Ultras where half of the bolts come out with the nut and the other half only the nut came out. I too have the Samurai Sword!!! I even use the Samurai Sword on cast iron natural draft boilers for cleaning the heat exchanger. IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!! I even keep a sheet of cork insulation on my van from auto zone because of those late night calls where I need to make my own gaskets.
Someone told me there is another boiler manufacturer that makes boilers that are almost perfect direct replacement for Weil-McLain Ultras. I don't remember the name. Any idea what company he was talking about?
Maybe he was thinking of the Dunkirk DCCF/DCBF? Or the Utica version. Those are the closest I can think of off the top of my head. Floor standing, modulating/condensing, exhaust on top.
Mikey fuckin pipes
Mikey Pipes, do you take real money, gold or silver?
@@PipeDoctor no paper in "future world"
I'll be surprised if you didn't already know this fastener tip, but when you're reinstalling bolts and screws, hold em straight and finger spin them backwards to locate the threads before you start threading them in. Helps immensely to make sure you don't cross-thread or, in plastic, keeps you from cutting new threads and weakening the plastic threads. It'll prevent you from petering up when you're using an impact to run screws in, especially when you cant get your impact lined up straight with your fastener.
How many new hires dont last lot of one hit wonders on here 😂
There are a LOT of apprentices that don't have potential unfortunately.
They put the gasket in the water test kit to make sure you test that water lol
10mm Is always missing
Call it a Blower, Like your Sista Khed
That concentric vent is not getting a large portion of its comhustion air. The part at roof and also beside the truss is not getting proper air. If you look at the manuals venting requiremehts iirc its 2" minimum un obstructed space.. i may be wrong, but im suspicious of the chosen location for sure
You may be onto something here I’m have to go back and check
@@PipeDoctor I'm for sure onto something :) great channel BTW:)
All that system looks like 100k
Gasket for igniter is found inside small test strip box! Why they put it in there is totally beyond me.
To help protect it from breaking
If using a range connector makes me a hack I don't wanna be right.
Lp
How many x100 did you need to use on that size system over here in the U.K. one rapid doze only do around 120 litres of system water that house looks like it was a little bit over 120 litres it’s the same over here we have been test for years and if none found in system boiler manufacturers will not honour the warranty
Nope won't show lol
Yeah? Lol
You didn’t clean the burner!!!
You do not need to be a bigot to be a plumber .
U probably dont want to pump that garbage into domestic hot water....imo
Nope 👎🏻
Too much water in the test cylinder.1cm only.
Guess reading comprehension is not your strong point. Having dope in your name is fitting.
Amazing video
