As I listen to "Double Face", Al Jarreau is still bringing joy and happiness to my troubled spirit.
Wow! Hurray! If I didnt have cancer and could walk I would be dancing a storm alone right here and now after all I'm only 80 years old! Thank you so very much to Eumir and Al for making life worth living.

My legs are semi disabled and I'm a senior citizen.
I was visiting with a younger friend. So I had just finished my coffee and was going back for a refill when "Double Face" started playing.
As I struggled to my feet I couldn't help myself. I started to samba on the way to the kitchen. Of course she scolded me for doing that. But as long as I don't fall, I'm okay.
Al Jarreau from Milwaukee, WI and Eumir Deodato from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is how to make magic. I watched the Unsung episode of Al Jarreau. How can such talent be ignored? At least TV One appreciates that Al Jarreau was passed over for a record deal. Can you imagine how many more recordings we could've had!?! The first ten years of Al Jarreau's professional career, and nobody signed him. Wow.
Funny fact .When 2 friends and i discovered Al Jarreau with a cassette in 1979 , we were convinced that he was from Brazil.and so for at least 10 years. But there was no internet.

I had the same experience with Lani Hall. I had first heard her singing with Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66.
I had thought for sure Lani was from Brazil.
It wasn't until after I watched a documentary about her that I learned that she is from Chicago, Ill

Saw Al a long time ago and i never will forget the concert. He is one of the most under appreciated jazz artists of our time. The combination of him and Deadato is priceless
Was Al underappreciated? I don't think so. He was one of the most successful jazz-musicians, especially during the eighties, when he sold out big concert-halls and joined the charts in many countries all over the world. And please don't forget his Grammy Awards. 🙂🙏🥰
@@funklover24, watch the Unsung episode. As a matter of fact I never heard "Double Face" until 2020. That's ten years! I sure would've liked to have heard it back in 2010!

@@martyemmons1859 Well, you are right about the "unsung episode". I didn't know "Double Face" until 2020, although I joined his concerts until the end. Probably he performed this song, but since I didn't know it, I was not aware of the collaboration of Al and Eumir. Bought the record in 2020 and absoutely love it.
But I still do not forget his concerts in the eighties, when Al was really hip and successful. He deserved it. May he rest in peace. ❤

E pensare che c'è ancora tanta gente che non ha mai sentito neanche una volta questi mostri sacri del sound ma che ascolta strani pezzi di band sconvolte.
La musica è come tutto il resto della vita: o la impari ad apprezzare con anni e anni di ascolto ininterrotto oppure non ne capisci il senso..... e arrivi perfino a detestarla !!!

Great playing featuring superstars: Once a pianist friend of mine listened to a recording of Deodato and his comment was: Eumir should have redone that keyboard solo I think he's a lazy guy, but I must confess here Deodato is doing his utmost to conceive a well constructed solo with feeling and has succeeded in doing so, fantastic ensemble playing and outstanding vocals by Al, very good, Vic.
