While Buddhism is a tradition focused on spiritual liberation, it is not a theistic religion. The Buddha himself rejected the idea of a creator god, and Buddhist philosophers have even argued that belief in an eternal god is nothing but a distraction for humans seeking enlightenment.

There is a concept of one God in Islam but God has no place in Buddhism and the Buddha said that I am not an incarnation or a prophet of any god. Islam is totally anti-science and Buddhism is based on science.
Non-violence is important in Buddhism, and what is in Islam is known

Does anyone notice that at one time the monk said God is not all powerful as he allows suffering…however in another breath, he sees understanding suffering as something that is actually good to get to the path…question is if understanding suffering is important for the path, how can you achieve that in absence of suffering

As someone who has studied Buddhism for a long time, let me tell you this: Buddha actually didn't say anything about God, or even if he said, we lost it somewhere in history. Buddhism, like any other religion, has many sects, two of the main are known as Hinayana and Mahayana. The Mahayana Buddhists have been influenced a lot by Hinduism, after the 8th century shankarachrya started converting them back to Hinduism, left, right and centre. He would debate the Buddhist monks with the condition that if he won, the monk and all his followers would convert to Hinduism. After this, many things were changed dramatically in Buddhism. The Tibetan Buddhists that you see (Dalai Lama's sect), are Mahayanas and they actually worship Buddha, though Buddha never claimed to be God, just like Christians have done with Jesus. The Buddhism that you see these days is mixed a lot with Hinduism. In Tibet, you'll even find casteism among Buddhists, that too, very strong. The same thing that Buddha fought his whole life.
On the other hand, Hinyanas still have a somewhat purity of Buddhism left in them and they still don't talk about God. Some of them might talk about a Supreme Creator, but it doesn't come from Buddha. It comes from later developments in Buddhism.
In short, if you read deeply, even if there are many things i don't agree with Dr. Zakir Naik on, he wasn't wrong with this.
To know more, read about the life of Buddha from real books. You'll get to know.

@@dravidamonkey4253 He's right with this one, though. You can't prove a person wrong by saying he's wrong, you know? You need to give evidence of either what he is saying is wrong (from actual Buddhist scripture, or atleast from a very reliable historian), or you have to find evidence of the opposite of what he's saying to be true (again from sources and not some monk). In short, you need to prove him wrong by quoting SCRIPTURES.
I would suggest you read Romila Thapar's book on ancient India. She has written in detail about it.

There is a big misconception about buddhist statues. Buddhists began to sculpt statues after they met the greeks and for a lot of buddhists: Statues are not objects of idolatry, but reminders of the teachings, and the Buddha is not considered a god but a great spiritual teacher.
About the belief in god, there are buddhists who believe in god or gods and there are others who don't. There is a story about the buddha in which he is asked stuff like: "Is there a god?" or "How did the world begin?" And he replied: I DON'T KNOW. There may be a god or not, but this is not important to me as my teachings are centered in the understanding of realities nature and specially for a practical approach. The aim of my teachings is above all the overcoming of suffering.
Maybe that's the reason why buddhism is in general known for respecting other believes. Note that the Buddha was a really racional teacher as he taught things like: "Never accept any truth, even those which I'm preaching without investigating it by yourself first." He was the most scientific spiritual leader I've ever come across.

When understanding the attributes of Allah. We cannot assume only one attribute applies at a single time. If we say Allah is All Mercy All Loving but then question why humans are suffering, then we forgot that this life is a test and Allah is All Just. And Allah tests those who He loves (actually acknowledging His All Mercy attribute at the same time) where to those who passes tests will be increased their ranks in the Hereafter and those who doesn’t will be judged with total justice. If theres no punishment or no rewards then God is not All Just and if theres no suffering (test) then theres no point living a temporary life.
For argument sake say Buddhist concept corrected Dr Zakir Naik. The Buddhist point totally neglects the existence of God. Happiness & Suffering. Relationship with the law of nature of life. And how to deal with it. Still cannot justify the wisdom behind the purpose of existence of happiness & suffering.
Every concepts of existence has it own purposes and wisdom. And if we ask the question what is the wisdom and reasoning behind it. Who are we mere humans who are just the ones experiencing it and not the one creating or bring it into existence in the first place to define it. Yes we can as an individual or as a group or community come out with a way we find best to deal with suffering/desires but still it doesn’t justify or clarify the wisdom or any reasoning of the existence of it in the first place. And something cannot come from nothing.
Hence, it leads logically to refer to the Almighty Creator of all things including happiness and suffering to tell us the wisdom and reason of its existence within the law of nature of life.

Buddha was just like any other philosophers. He taught life philosophy from his perspective. God religion is totally different and is something that is not meant to be understood all. It takes strong faith and believe in the creator. As much as I think some of Buddhist teaching is good, I cannot imagine my existence without my creator and follow his guidances. In modern world, I’m concerned about being deceived and not being able to tell right from wrong. Islam and Islamic practices protect me from that. The god religion is religion that tells everyone is equal and no one is above any other people. Allah created us the same way. Buddha origin was India and had root from Hinduism, and we all know about caste system in India so this believe still continue in Buddhism. They believe in past life, karma and reincarnation. They believe that if someone is better than others in this life or was born in wealthy family, it meant he or she did good things in past life so people worship or held that person up higher above them.

Buddha's teachings are not only theories but also actual practices to end suffering. Don't you ever say it just a philosophy or theory if you have not ever experienced the actual practice. There are three sasanas in Buddhism.
      1. Pariyatti sasana (theoretical studies of Buddha's teachings) such as Buddhist universities or colleges.
      2. Pattipati sasana (actual practice of Buddha's teachings ) such as Vipassana centres, meditation centres and forest tradition.
      3. pativeda sasana (becoming enlightened perons after practicing Buddhist dharma). This sasana is as a result of practicing two sasanas above.

Ntd Tmn one of the example of criticizing something without fully understanding it. For you to say that Buddhism have some roots in Hinduism is half right, and the fact that you presumed Buddhism believes in caste system while in fact Buddha was strongly against that part in Hindu. Some meditation practices from Hindu was used in Buddhism because before there was Buddhism, Buddha learnt from teachers from Hindu and Buddha picked the meditation techniques that will help reaching enlightment.

If someone says Buddha didn’t have any power, they will definitely be wrong. He had power and so do his principals. However, he banned all his principals from using their power, because the core of Buddhism is intelligence and enlightenment. Power only makes people blindly believe the one who has it is God or something. Even one has power, they can’t escape from the circle of reincarnation and karma. In Buddhism, even the creatures living in Heaven still get back to the Earth or Hell. Heaven, Earth (actually we call it a different name, but my English is not good enough), and Hell are still in the circle of Reincarnation. When someone enjoys good Karma (reborn as a creature in Heaven, and has long life span), they still get punished by going to Hell and Earth because of bad Karma. No one can escape that circle, only the awakened persons can. Not what good things one has done, only enlightenment helps people to escape from it. If one did good things, they will be born in Heaven to enjoy what they have done in the previous life. But they are still a creature in Heaven and still have life span, the same for creatures in Hell. That’s why we call Buddha the Master of God and Human. I’m just sharing my knowledge of Buddhism. I’m not attacking other religions. Peace for the world.

But if you think otherwise, its upto you to hurt, harm or kill a living being. The 4 noble truths are Whats suffering? Reason for suffering? How to relieve suffering? Relieve suffering. The 8 fold path is a different thing. Thats not embedded in 4 noble truths. Zakir is wrong here. You cant compare a Philosophy with a Religion where freedom of thought & choice is limited. To understand Buddhism, you need both mental & physical ability to achieve success. 😇

Controls on desires is good even Islam teaches the same but with addition that outcome for this hardship will be rewarded in life hereafter, desires installed in humans to push them to work and work hard to be productive in society, so Islam is strictly against Monkhood instead teaches Enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong by living in human society. If all good peoples go out from society then what left behind will be evil. Truly Allah gave us the right path through Quran which is the biggest blessing that improves humanity and civilizations. I was taught about the four great truths in Pali.
When its translated ,it’s something like this.
    Pain
    Cause of pain
    Eradication of pain
    Way of eradication
As a religious scholar he should be more responsible and accountable about his statements. You can’t disregard an entire philosophy that is logically sound and scientific with plays on words.
Even though i was born to a household with buddhist philosophy , im currently following islamic teachings and practices . Want to learn about their perspective.
But certainly not satisfied with Dr Zakir Naik’s answers on some of the questions.
Explaining the god’s reason for creation using a simple school exam is not very intellectual.
And its a wrong approach, it may describe the situation in the exam room but not the creation.

I hate to say this but the first monk has no right to call himself a Buddhist much less a monk. He mocked the death of a fellow monk and bragged about meditating next to girls in bikinis. He mixes Buddhism with his own personal opinions and beliefs and tries to make it sound like Buddhist teachings. I'm doing my master's in Asian Religions and most Buddhist schools (especially Theravada and Zen) do not contradict the Academic faiths. Hope this helps shed a little light on this video.

    Hello,
Lot of people think that Buddhism is a philosophy ; please stop thinking this because is not true. The path given by the Buddha is entirely spiritual. Or if you wish, the philosophical aspect (using rationality or a pattern of ideas) of his teaching is only a preliminary step in order to provide the motivation to engage in the path. Why? Because the practice is really not easy and it requires confronting our own conditioning, mental habits and fetters. Then that requires energy and effort from heart which must be fueled by this motivation.
The real objective is to EXPERIENCE directly the reality beyond our conception and our subjective point of view. It's a spiritual travel and not a mere a manipulations of ideas or conceptions like the philosophy.

It isn't really a contradiction really to desire the eightfold path. It will definitely cause one suffering when one desires to follow it because one will finally reflect on one's shortcoming. So it does allign with the truth that desire will lead to suffering. And eventually after following it, you learn to cast that final desire.

@@adlan1823 desire makes you justify things just because of one's belief and teaching. It's impossible to not have desire, we are humans. Buddhism is just merely a vehicle that can help remind which desires are good and bad. There is the story of Angulimala who's desire was to impress his teacher. However, his teacher hated him and convinced him that Angulimala must cut off the little fingers of people and make a garland with it. Angulimala's blind faith made him kill multiple people who crossed his path so that he can make his garland of fingers.
      the rest is from wikipedia
Surviving villagers migrate from the area and complain to Pasenadi, the king of Kosala.Pasenadi responds by sending an army of 500 soldiers to hunt down Aṅgulimāla. Meanwhile, Aṅgulimāla's parents hear about the news that Pasenadi is hunting an outlaw. Since Aṅgulimāla was born with bad omens, they conclude it must be him. Although the father prefers not to interfere, the mother disagrees. Fearing for her son's life, she sets out to find her son, warn him of the king's intent and take care of him. The Buddha perceives through meditative vision (Pali: abhiññā) that Aṅgulimāla has slain 999 victims, and is desperately seeking a thousandth. If the Buddha is to encounter Aṅgulimāla that day, the latter will become a monk and subsequently attain abhiññā. However, if Aṅgulimāla is to kill his mother instead, she will be his thousandth victim and he will be unsavable, since matricide in Buddhism is considered one of the five worst actions a person can commit.
The Buddha sets off to intercept Aṅgulimāla, despite being warned by local villagers not to go. On the road through the forest of Kosala, Aṅgulimāla first sees his mother. According to some versions of the story, he then has a moment of reconciliation with her, she providing food for him. After some deliberation, however, he decides to make her his thousandth victim. But then when the Buddha also arrives, he chooses to kill him instead. He draws his sword, and starts running towards the Buddha. But although Aṅgulimāla is running as fast as he can, he cannot catch up with the Buddha who is walking calmly. The Buddha is using some supernatural accomplishment (Pali: iddhi; Sanskrit: ṛddhi) that affects Aṅgulimāla: one text states the Buddha through these powers contracts and expands the earth on which they stand, thus keeping a distance of Aṅgulimāla. This bewilders Aṅgulimāla so much that he calls to the Buddha to stop. The Buddha then says that he himself has already stopped, and that it is Aṅgulimāla who should stop
Honestly, nothing against Abrahamic religions but sometimes monotheists like christian evangelicals can have too much desire to spread your own beliefs that you unwittingly insult and find fault in others (just like this video) instead of finding your own spirituality and your own connection with your God. I'm not saying Buddhism is perfect. It can still be brainwashed by dictatorships who want to use religion. But its a bigger problem in the Abrahamic religions like how most churches are now MAGA trump supporter bases and also how Islamophobia started with the retaliation on 9/11 and also Muslims supporting the Taliban when the Bamiyan Buddhas were dynamited. There is too much desire that they justify as faith and too little control because each group think they are in the right because their higher power or holy book said so.

Myanmar is ruled by a dictatorship just like Taliban and no where in Buddhist doctrine says that non-believers deserves conversion or killing just by not believing. Plus, Myanmar only has 50 million put of 500 million Buddhists Worldwide. And Buddhists across the world, do not agree with what the Burmese dictatorship is doing. In fact. The Burmese resistance against the regime has a high Christian and Muslim population because the Myanmar people finally realised what the Military was doing. Meanwhile, the same Zakir Naik in this video frequently supported the practices of Taliban including a video on why Muslims should support the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas. That's what I'm referring to when I say that Abrahamic religions can get carried away when trying to push for their "own truths". Before the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas, Buddhists generally didn't have an issue with Muslims. In fact, in Very very Buddhist countries like Thailand, you can hear the call the Prayer everyday and Eid is allowed to be celebrated even though killing animals as part of a ceremony is considered a sin for Buddhists. Compare that with the Middle East (especially Saudi Arabia where non-believers can't practice their religion freely outside). And yet, instead of focusing on their religion, people like Zakir Naik are more obsessed with criticising other religions instead and frequently using the word "infidels". And Muslims who watch him start believing his views and then wonder why Islamophobia exists. I could understand if he's under a dictatorship and is made to say this stuff, but he's not. It's the same for American evangelicals who keep hating other religions, including Muslims. (plenty of evangenitals making videos about how other religions are bad and I'm done with them tbh) That's what I'm saying so pls stop jumping to conclusions bub.

Okay, second guy. No one person can ever be two people. That’s just illogical. Now, the conflict inside, is because you were put on earth for a reason. The creator put you here, to#1, worship Him.#2, to help others with what He has given you,i,e, money, food, and what have you. They once you worship the creator, everything else falls into place.

dukka nirodha arya satya -noble truth of eradicating suffering.
it dosent talk about eliminate desire. it acknowledge suffering can be eliminated and for that you have to destroy avidya ( arrogance. which is the root cause of suffering described in 12 steps of paticcha samuppada) not desire. when avidya is eliminated desire wont happens.
and in the forth noble truth one will learn how to eliminate avidya by following 37 bodhi parshavika dhamma. eight fold path is just 8 out of 37. we use it because its easier to site and it contains essence of all 37. just as we use desire or avidya as root cause of suffering when there is 12 well described steps by buddha in paticcha samuppada.
so there are no contradictions in 4 noble truths but intentional or genuine arrogance by dr. zakir naik for what ever reason

Buddhists are very confused i'm afraid. The buddhist speaks on God and says he isn't all kind. But buddhists will go up into a cave leaving their parents behind to suffer so they can practice Tubo to keep themselves warm whilst their parents suffer in the cold. A Muslim learns how to make fire and stays with his parents and keeps them warm. This idea about suffering is all backwards. Suffering is often the driving force behind human development. Buddhists themselves tell us that Buddhas teachings did NOT last 100 years before being changed and adulterated. So to try and put forward an argument that says buddha taught this or taught that is flawed on many levels when his message was not preserved.

As is in one of the buddhists main books....The 100 thousand songs of Mila Repa. Guess you don't know what you're talking about huh. Because it IS a buddhist term. Smh
