Well the thing is, fear isn’t the same as hating. I am absolutely TERRIFIED of sharks probably on the same level as Nick or worse, but that doesn’t mean I hate sharks. My mom did show a video of a shark that was washed up on shore and while I couldn’t look at the shark, I still felt bad for it. I probably would’ve even attempted to help it if I was there though I would be screaming the whole time I push it back into the water. So no, fear doesn’t mean hate. Fear is more of a self protection response towards something you think will harm you (which is exactly what a shark would do) while hatred is an emotional response towards something with extreme dislike. Fear can lead to anger and hatred but not always. Even though I fear sharks, which is why I didn’t really watch the video and just chose to read the comments, I understand that the world would suck without them since I can put logic over my feelings. And it’s not the sharks fault for how they are, but I’m just going to stay as far away from them as humanly possible. I don’t want to be on the beach. Though I am tired hearing how sharks are “just misunderstood” and people saying things like “stop hating on the sharks” as if I can control how I feel or people just assume that I hate sharks and want them extinct or something. Because that doesn’t mean you can talk them out of biting you! They’ll take a bite out of you just because they’re curious. The fact that it’s instincts is exactly what makes them terrifying. They’re animals that just survive, I get that. They’re still dangerous. It doesn’t help my fear of them and it just makes me feel like people are downplaying my fear rather than trying to understand my fear. I don’t hate sharks, I’m just terrified of them. Especially since they look like demons.
@@ashebennett7726 A Shark actually wouldn't harm you as shark attacks are rare. You are more likely to die from a coconut falling on your head then you are to a shark attack.
@@coreyholt6145 I know that and see that’s what I’m talking about. That doesn’t help. I know they are rare but sharks will attack on occasion. It’s not uncommon either. Just once is enough. I even have the knowledge to know that you’re more likely to be bitten by a person in New York than you are of a shark. My phobia of sharks and the ocean stems from when I was younger, my mom and I got drifted out into the current and my mom and I had to be rescued. And then the next day, someone was attacked by a shark on said beach. I think they survived, I don’t remember. But I don’t care how common or uncommon it is. It CAN still happen. And people have died from shark attacks before and still do or at the very least become amputee. If something can be dangerous, whether or not it common, that’s all the more reasons I need to stay far away from them. I still have a phobia of sharks and probably will never stop fearing them. And it’s not just the sharks. I hate the ocean, period, because it’s so big, unpredictable, misleading and you’ll never know what’s in there when you’re out swimming. So not only do I have galeophobia: fear of sharks, I also have thalassophobia which is a fear of huge bodies of water like lakes and especially the ocean. I also have megalothalassophobia which is a fear of underwater creatures or objects. There are people that I know of that are terrified of balloons and yet balloons don’t attack. And, this woman I knew about gets anxiety when in a room with balloons. And dolls don’t attack either, and yet people are scared of those too. I guess dolls looking creepy with a forever frozen expression on their faces like a corpse or balloons being unpredictable for when they pop and making loud noises is enough to freak people out. Bear attacks are rare too, but anybody with common sense would still stay away. I’m especially terrified of hippos since they kill around 500 people a year. I feel uncomfortable seeing photos of those things with their mouths open. Especially sharks with the rows of razor sharp teeth that just doesn’t look natural to me. I’m not finding reasons to make sharks scary monsters, I’m not. I’m already terrified of them and simply explaining WHY I’m terrified. And witnessing one attack is enough to traumatize me and unable to look at pictures of them. I also can’t look at pictures of anything underwater. I hate looking at deep water pictures. 😖 while I can appreciate the attempt of reassurance, it doesn’t feel reassuring that my fear is understood.

I almost equate sharks to be the bears of the sea. If they are provoked, of course, they would maul you. If you have the silhouette of a prey, you are fucked. If they are hungry, they are more likely to attack. If you did neither, they would more or less leave you alone.
A world without sharks? Then there'd be no Jaws no Meg and Meg 2, but more importantly, no Sharknado series!

Let's see, my fears are (in not particular order) heights, drowning, death, needles, diabetes, raw chicken/food poisoning, disembowelment, having an aneurism, having a stroke, going to Hell, AIDS, cleaning toilets, broken bones, losing my loved ones, dentists (slowly overcoming that one), I could go on but I think you've gathered by now that I am a MASSIVE hypochondriac and a bit of a clean freak, but I'd like to say that I'm better now than I was ten years ago 😅

My thing is i would overcome my strigiformophobia (fear of owls) it's mainly the eyes but everything about them too. I remember I was playing mhgu there is monster in the game called malfestio and I didn't like hunting it because it being an owl

I hate it when people say that the media has no affect on people perspective but in reality it does influence you like look at the religion islam the reason why alot of people hate the religion and the people who practice the religion is because news saying the most outlandish things about the religion and the people who do practice it
That's true of various religions, I'd say the bigger issue is the groups that use Islam as the excuse/motivation for terrorism in various parts of the world on a scale far larger than other religions.
No the extreme sides of religion do more harm than any peace of Media. Media is the surface level of misunderstanding
