    I’ve found that the biggest time-waste for me is self-doubt. I’m always caught up by indecision or a fear that it won’t look good. Here are some fears that I’ve been trying to challenge:
    Fearing color/splotchiness - you have to embrace extreme gradients/color difference. It genuinely doesn’t matter if it looks weird from up close to be using, let’s say dirt and brown terracotta together: people have already formed their first impression from far away.
    Fearing illogical/impractical structures - its a video game and your aim is to have fun. It doesn’t matter if no human beings could build or use it. Embrace those oddities; almost no one but the designer even notices them. Besides, those inaccurate to real life elements often enhance the feeling in a build, which is what you’re really after most of the time.
    Fearing any unconventional color choices - you won’t know what looks good until you try it. It’s your build and as long as you’re finding it interesting to work on, it’s worthwhile. If you finish and you think it looks like shit, that’s ok! You actually learned something. Keep going with that. It’s good to copy and paste that build and keep working on a new variation while keeping the old in mind. As you find what you like and don’t like, you’ll build up mental tropes. Speaking of…
    Fear of tropes - look, sometimes spruce brown and grey just *works*. don’t be ashamed of re-using tried and true methods. It’s good to be creative, but don’t forbid yourself from building something just because you’ve seen something similar before. After all, many artists imitate for years and years before their own style becomes defined.
    If you read this far, I hope it spoke to you! Bye bye!

    I've been really curious how you build in a quite short time! This maybe a short vid but a really helpful one! Will be waiting to see more helpful tips! 🙌❤️

    Super amazing detailing and shape. I'm very excited to take what I learned here and put my own twist on it. I just wish I could do these epic things in survival, I feel like I lose sense of what's happening while so close it all. Absolutely love it though!

    Really good Video! I saw one of you're builds on reddit, so I'm checking out your Channel.
    How did you make that curve at 3:18 with those emerald blocks so easily? With a world edit command? Didn't seem like you did it by hand.
    Good time laps, made via replay mod or a cam account?

    • @shovel241
      @shovel241  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I find it much easier to use the //curve command from world edit when making curves. Just do the command //sel convex, select at least 3 points, and do the command //curve emerald_block. My custom tree video explains convex selections a bit more in depth. Thanks for checking out the channel!

    I definitely learned something all tough I have leave some critic:
    It would be helpful to actually see the typed out commands for example. You wouldn't even need to stop the time lapse, you could add a screenshot of it to the scene. But as I said I definitely learned something, you gave me the information I needed to further refine my research of the topic that lead me here. But I also enjoyed a few things in particular in your tutorial, like the highlighting of post 1 and 2 markers, drawn lines and shapes to round up your explanation. I also liked that you skipped parts that were explained before with a link to a more detailed explanation. Over all it was a really good and helpful tutorial. I liked and subscribed. Keep it up, that's some good shit right here ❤
