If “it” means leaving yourself behind and enjoying the place you are in, I think you have felt it. Less struggle more joy is a big change in your posts. Thanks.

Truman the doggie has been hiking most of the PCT with his home humans since March -- Julia's timeline sync'd up with Truman a couple of weeks before Seiad Valley

Not surprising about deer seeking out salt in urine. My 1st wife and I camping on a canoe trip in Boundary Waters June 1967. The local deer HERD pawed and snorted in "pee heaven" for hours at our first campsite of 5 day trip. Poor sleep a result.
Learned our lesson early- pee away from tent area if possible.
Not sure if you had the time and equipment- ice axe &; crampons- to climb Mt. Shasta. Camped at Horse Camp 8,000 and climbed Shasta the next day(August 1978). The only other climber that day was a man thru-hiking the PCT. He left me behind before we got to Lake Helen @ 10,000'.
    Summit views were spectacular!
    Safe trails to CANADA!!
SENT FROM home in S Central Alaska.

I think William wants to be your boyfriend 👇
    😂
I’m sorry… it’s just so stupid to say that to a hiker making a hiking video while hiking with her boyfriend. Geez
Anyhoo…loving your friends’ coast videos and I’m so looking forward to yours! Thanks for making me laugh with the burp. And that deer is a freak! Ew..but I reckon salt is salt💁

I see that many PCT thru-hikers use closed-cell pads. Is this done WITH an inflatable pad or in place of one, and if the latter, are you folks 21st century Spartans? Just wondering.

    • @blueboats7530
      @blueboats7530 2 года назад

Many just use the closed-cell only and some add the inflatable on top, it just depends on whether they want to carry the added weight of the inflatable too. Nobody wants to trust using an inflatable only, they fail so often. Spartans yes, I see a lot PCT thru-hikers and I am stunned at how many will do without comfort for the sake of weight. Couples like Julia and Correy can afford a little more weight because they can spread out other weight such as the tent and the stove.

Not sure why deer have such a pee fetish. They are so funny that way. I love that part of CA. I’m sorry you had so many blow downs. The trail maintenance people have def been behind cuz of Covid. Usually you will see cows up there. I think they usually keep the brush down. Seiad valley is a very hiker friendly town

Maybe it changed hands. I heard that they were paranoid of "hippie" shoplifters so they hang over your shoulder when shopping. I heard that the guy at the trailer park was charging 10 bucks to pitch a tent. I figure crash in the bushes like a hippie. 😂

In Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 72 I got stuck there in Spring when it was still cold outside. I was 19 with long hair. The rednecked townspeople wouldn't allow me to pay for a place to camp anywhere. I left town and got stuck on the roadside all day when a guy driving a big rig who had driven past me in the early morning returned from Jackson Hole on the flip flop in the evening and picked me up taking me out of the hell hole and into Idaho Falls. In 72 long hair was not cool in Wyoming. It was a good way to get into a bar fight.

@@jls935 this friend of mine is crazy hiker. He just did these three awesome lakes just off the PCT that most people pass right by because they think the whole place is fried to smithereens by fire like the rest of the PCT is on the ridge. You just drop off (and I mean drop big-time!) the PCT to get to these spectacular wonders. They are right there along the PCT but just out of sight. ruclips.net/video/GLFDRJqdcS8/видео.html

Question - How did you get to the Oregon beach? Was that a side trip? Really like your jacket. You know tou are very attractive, inlooks & personality.
