The crash site is outside of town. It's on private property, but you can definitely talk to old-timers in the area, and eventually, one of them will get you permission to visit it.
It was a great stop along the way!! We made the most of it. I would recommend you go during a festival or event. It wasn’t a place I would recommend as a single destination but as a stopping point for sure!!
