Isabel has massive core strength you can actually see, holding herself in that somewhat reclined position...not a natural seat for most of us. I would much rather analyze Charlotte D’s riding position. She is beautiful to watch as she maintains light contact while staying planted and balanced in the saddle. Really something I find personally inspiring. She even manages to give pats and stays so in touch with the horse. Truly a treat to see and something to emulate. IMHO 💜🦋😷
Making A Warhorse I can see where that would be true, particularly if you were counter-balancing weaponry with weight in front of you. Or have I missed the point...?
@@DianeLee999 We ride more on our seat bones to free up the horses shoulder and free our own hips for clearer communication. Sometimes the weight of a Lance can be helpful in slowing the horse or turning them in a piroette. Check out Arne Koets if you want to actually see what I'm talking about. I'm not super experienced quite yet and had to completely change my seat when Arne came to give a clinic at my barn.
The other thing to note is that the seat helps you stick in the saddle (which is great on my spooky arabian). I've felt far more secure in that seat since I really am sitting deeeep in the saddle.
Since I've been reading your blogs I've been sad about leaving the physical Dressage world since 1995, although, like you I still by have my inner thoughts growing and maturing and shaped by the pros I love. I am in awe of you rmind spirit and expression. I fell in love with Dressage in 1984 watching the Olympics and seeing Reiner Klimke and Ahlerich in Grand Prix Special which really separates the wheat from the chafe, LOL.. They have always been my mindset and goal in my dressage dreams. As the years go by since then, for 30 years , I still feel the same way. If you compare Reiner and Ahlerich's 1984 ride, I see how Pure the movements were without all the flash vs. what's happened for the years since then. For me it starts with all the work leading up to proper -by the book collection. If you notice, you see that Reiner Klimke's riding is one of the few that have worked harder to get that collection the Proper way. Reiner Klimke has ridden Ahlerich with his nose on the vertical or slightly ahead of the vertical. It takes alot more correct work to get collection in the proper way and expressed thru the body to the hand vs. getting it the easier way making the horse have nose behind the vertical. It is so much easier to "get" some collection by using a short cut. It takes true proper training, (the long way) to get collection the proper way- the way that few bother with anymore, except for a very few famed riders. Now days it Never appears that collection starts in the body and ends in the hand. It is far far much more work to get that collection starting in the rear and ending at guiding hands. A lost art. An art where true collection is truly based on physical anatomy of the horse , not following the latest fad. IMO most dressage riders start out learning the perfect methods. At some point, training takes a different turn even tho the correct methods are still there but riders tend to accept another easier way to collection due to high scores and by Peers. Almost no one sticks to the path leading riders to stick to the horse's natural movement without distortion. Read the Handbook!!! So Joseph, very long, but I feel you and Jen are always searching for a purer rider/horse relationship . I may be wrong but at least I hope I've given some food for thought. Thankyou Simply Brown who competed to schooling 2nd level at the age of 24, knowing nothing at the start. Would never put up with the easier way, and retired from 2nd level schooling having a collected trot and some partially developed other movements before retirement.
Thank you Jess for putting yourself out there. We all want to be good riders and thank you for showing us that. Some were born with the talent, some of us have to work for it. In both situations it all comes down to the love of the sport! Jess, thank you❤️ Joseph thank you❤️
I have watched videos with Carl riding for many years but I was floored when I saw him in person at WEG. He is in total harmony with the horse, it looks like he is floating with the horse. The most beautiful thing you'll ever see! And I think Jess also looked beautiful imitating him. How you sit the trot also depends on your own body shape and of course your fitness. Length of your upper body will determine a little where it's comfortable to hold your hands. Fun video, looking forward to the Josef version.
That was fun it’s a great idea trying the different styles Jesse you did look more pro doing Hesters style you both should do more it really was fun.tfs😎
Love to see you having fun while you work so hard to make your dreams come true. Friends who trust each other are the best. Never been into chestnuts but Billy is my favorite. Happy trails to you.
This was a wonderful lesson today and Jess you looked beautiful. wow! He Is just an incredible horse. I really enjoyed watching the videos hearing your commentary and then applying it to Jess's riding. You are a great teacher Joseph! Your videos are beautiful they really give the viewer an experience that is second-to-none! Thank you for sharing! 🐎🙌🙏♥️
I loved this video!!! I loved how you both analyzed the pro riders and I loved seeing you try to imitate it! So much fun in a sport that can be intense/serious :)
Hi Joseph, they are all great riders but Edward Gal is fantastic,he looks like a someone strapped him into the saddle no movement at all and is great with young horses ,great videos from Ireland 🇨🇮
This is fun, tremendous, and very inspiring, you guys!! Jess, it is beautiful to see you in the saddle. :) Looking forward to hearing about riding a young horse vs. a learned one.
Totally agree! Watching top riders can be so helpful! Especially in warm ups or schooling! Great job riding Jessica! Billy looks really fun! 🙃❤ Off to barn to watch the boys !
Nice job Jess! Since becoming a subscriber I find myself watching pros and trying to really think about my position constantly (even out of the saddle). Now I’m looking forward to shows where I can watch the warm-ups.
Way to go Jess, that's a really difficult ride to perform! Juseph, nice instruction with 3 totally different styles. Plus you need to match your riding with the age of your horse. I love horse you rode today by the way! Keep up the good work with your different types of videos. PS I'm in New York when we just had a hurricane and we are on day 2 of no power. However it was important for me to watch your video.
How old is Billy? Seven? Young but not super-young? This is one of your best videos ever. Thanks for taking a chance, Jessica. You are a very good rider.
"Like which pro?" 🤣 Actually, I think this is something you should do more of, not necessarily the imitation, but watching and analyzing how the rider is using their position and aids to influence the horse. Specific position I think tends to differ depending on the horse's back conformation, the seat of the saddle, personal comfort, etc, so just imitating the style may not be helpful, but instead, if we look at how they *change* from their default position to create an effect on the horse, these are techniques that I think could be applied regardless of what *our* default riding positions are... Thoughts?
For me everything changed up when I learnt how rider bio mechanics influences affect and effect. Stomach to hands and releasing the hip joint frees up the pelvis for lateral and longitudinal movement relative to the horses.
Another really entertaining video. It's nice to see non-professionals riding and receiving coaching. You mentioned the merchandise in your store. I would love to order some of it but shipping to the UK ends up being as much as the items!!! Can you find a UK outlet? I think it's stuff that would really appeal to the UK equestrian market, especially if you expanded the range......?
Thanks guys. This is exactly what I wanted to see. Actually it's the beginning of what I wanted to see. More please! As long s it doesn't interfere with the horses' learning process, it's so great to compare. There are a couple of famous riders that look like junk, and score high anyway--don'r emulate those please!
very cool challenge and very well done. If the fairy would ask for my wish, I would like to ride like Edward Gal, but I think its just impossible to ride as effective, elegant and artistic...
Fun video! You two make a great team. Well done Jess! Check out Marieke Van der Putten- especially on Trafalgar: Totilla x Lord Loxley She sticks like glue, quietest hands Keeps him in front of her and stays relaxed all at the same time. Wow!
How ironic is it that as Joseph watches the persons he considers to be some of the top riders in the world, those very same "top riders" are at home watching videos of Joseph, wishing they could ride as well as he does! There is no better dressage rider or trainer than Joseph. One need only look at the wonderful attitude of these well-trained athletes to see how he has loved and trained them to total perfection. It is simply a matter of time when Joseph and his amazing horses will show the world what he is capable of doing when he takes home the gold for the USA.
Other than the bouncy video, I thought this was very entertaining. Never cared for IW's style. Jess-what kind of riding pants are you wearing? You ride beautifully, BTW.
This is a better video of how werth actually warms up. medium.com/@ericakfranz/before-you-watch-the-equestrian-games-3ca949366fc4 effective at force based on the tail swishing even in the video u showed. That horse was not happy and she is a bad rider if this is what she must do. She's also drugged her horses and been caught at least 2 times.
Hallo! Recently I’ve took some lessons by an instructor who told me something stupid, ...by my point of view. He teachs that there is only one way to ride well, and that every horse is able to understand our instructions (obviously given in the same way), it would happen only if we can ride in the way he teachs. This is an egocentric “masturbation” of a man who is really limitated and needs to build his class of ignorant students. Why do I can’t stand this? Some friend of mine tel me that it’s a normal approach
This is one of my most favorite videos you've ever done. I hope you'll do more like this!
Isabel has massive core strength you can actually see, holding herself in that somewhat reclined position...not a natural seat for most of us. Isabel rides more like a historical dressage rider. Reminds me of where I want to be as a mounted combat practicioner.
Making A Warhorse I can see where that would be true, particularly if you were counter-balancing weaponry with weight in front of you. Or have I missed the point...?

Charlottes core strength is unbelievable she can do squats balancing on a Swisse ball 😳
Good job Jess, you are a lovely rider. Love the chemistry between you and Joseph in the arena. Great partnership. Great trainer!
Fun video! I definitely love Carl Hester's riding style. 🙌🔥

Jess you are simply awesome......loving these videos, the winter will be spent catching up on the last five years of your videos :)
Thank you Jess for putting yourself out there. We all want to be good riders and thank you for showing us that. Some were born with the talent, some of us have to work for it. In both situations it all comes down to the love of the sport! Jess, thank you❤️ Joseph thank you❤️

Loved this video. Jess is a beautiful rider. It was very interesting to see the different styles of the top riders.
So fun! And informative. Stunning horse!

Jess I rode in my youth. But I rode western. I’m so amazed how you train these horses. I don’t even see how you change the gates. You are so good!
Great video. Love to see Jess riding. More please!!!
I love this style of learning. You guys make us feel like we’re in the court real time.
Keep these coming. ♥️♥️
Thank you.

I love the new series !!!!! So good !

Put it in slow mo. Jess I love watching you ride. Your beauty in motion. Joseph is a great trainer. I really enjoyed this. Love you guys 💕💕
Loved this video! Jess, you are awesome for putting yourself out there, and love how you try to imitate all the riders 😂😂.
I love your videos, thank for telling me how to make a comment. Jody from Virginia
Great video! I think I like Ava's riding style the best, and Jess does a great job impersonating all 3 riders!
Totally love love love that horse!

You ride so good on a horse
Just such a brilliant video,classy,fun,truly entertaining 👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻

What brand of bridle do you mainly buy?
Can you tell us what brand of saddle she is using?
Very fun and interesting. I wonder what Billy was thinking through this.😛
very cool challenge and very well done. If the fairy would ask for my wish, I would like to ride like Edward Gal, but I think its just impossible to ride as effective, elegant and artistic...

She sticks like glue, quietest hands Keeps him in front of her and stays relaxed all at the same time. Wow!
I loved this video< Joseph next
Love Billy
I am a subscriber 👍🐴💞
So good 😂👌🍀👏🤩😍
I would love for you to compare the seat of different riders, kind of a cross between this video and the test comparison you did
I’m also wondering why ppl doesn’t subscribe? Support the RUclipsrs you watch 👍🏼🥰
Lovely!, hey Jess, where did you get your boots from?
Anita Rickey tucci
For my position, I was taught to have my shoulder blades almost touching. No hollow in back

It's a straight line from the head down to the elbow and down to the heal.
Jessica- you looked the best riding like Carl Hester! Way to go!
Love this video! Can we see moves like Ingrid??? Please??!!! Ingrid Klimke is the Queen 👸👑
Look at Eva Möller, wonderful riding🙏👏
Other than the bouncy video, I thought this was very entertaining. Never cared for IW's style. Jess-what kind of riding pants are you wearing? You ride beautifully, BTW.
Isabelling :)
Next time Joseph rides like Edward Gal ;)
Lol
I want to train and ride like Jolanda Adelaar.
Loved this one. But Joseph, your thumbnail! Really not nice calling Jessica names! Ha Ha :o)
D G hahaha was a typo!
Whats tat ? 😎😂😂😂.klasse

Make a new one e mail me to find it
You would sit better if you dropped your stirrups down a bit. Your pelvis would tilt forward more and put you in a better position
Make a new video and let us guess which rider it is 😆
Aranka that’s a great idea!
