- A rear spoiler from BMW will set you back £190. This is a cheaper alternative which will look exactly the same. The spoiler is sourced from Thailand and painted in the required colour for your BMW.
This video shows how you install it on the boot/trunk of your BMW. In this example, its installed on my 520d M Sport (F10).
Thanks, I just ordered one myself from the US, this gives me a bit more confidence for installation!
whats the link you bought this from?
what's the exact type of the tape?
+Tarik S it's 3m double sided. There is a comment from me earlier in this thread which tells you the size of the tape.
Whoever supplies these items saying they are fitted with 3M tape should be aware that...... 3M is copyright to start with and when you try to apply 3M tape... it sticks like shit to a blanket... the first time it comes into contact with anything... you will not be able to remove it without damaging the tape, the item or the paintwork....
BE ADVISED THAT WHEN YOU FIT ANYTHING WITH SUCH POWERFUL ADHESION, YOU START BY MIXING A SOAP WITH WATER... YOU THEN WASH THE MIXTURE ONTO THE BODY WORK, AFTER THAT, AND ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR ITEM IN POSITION WITH A BARRIER OF SOAPY WATER YOU SQUEEZE THE SOAPY WATER SOLUTION AWAY FROM THE TWO CONTACT SURFACES TO CREATE AN AREA OF UN-SOAPY CONTACT... THIS THEN CREATES A FIXED FAST AND SOLID ADHESION..... IF YOU THINK THAT SOAPY WATER WILL NOT ALLOW THE CONTACT SURFACES TO ADHERE...... REFER TO ROLLS ROYCE.. FOR FURTHER APPLICATION PROFESSIONALITY. KIND REGARDS.
nice video, is it black or imperial blue? really cant notice
Colour is carbon black.
Nice work with the way you applied the tail fin. Peeling back the tape is genius. Thank you.
Nice diy Video. I realize the mistake I made attempting to install one on my car. Thanks.
This was great. I ordered mine from 'Taiwan' too. £32.00 inc delivery and unpainted but 3m already applied
My F10 is silver and the lip unpainted actually didnt look too bad against it, just didnt have the shine like the rest of the car.
So I wrapped it in black carbon wrap £14.00 (most of that cost was delivery).
Wrapped the wing mirrors in carbon black too, goes quite good together.
Sounds like a decent looking car!
what is the width of the adhesive tape please
Unfortunately itson the car so I do not know. But your maybe looking at about 2cm.
thanks for replying
+Alex Savo instead of wasting money installing ricer gear on ur car switch it for V8 5 series, will make u much happier trust me
+Club Bmw Amg Rice? How is adding a lip rice?
Brownie smh, adding any modifications that don't increase performance is rice first get the biggest engine you can get for your car like for the 5 series get the v8 and then you can add a lip if u want, the 6 cylinder is only good for 3 series not 5 series
Drop the link fam
hi, I am looking to do the exact same thing and have the exact same car and the spoiler. What I am confused about is the primer that came with it. What are you supposed to do with it and how to use it?
I left the primer as I did not want to damage the boot or spoiler. My spoiler is still stuck fast, no problems. I would not bother.
Hi - I see you didn't use the adhesion promoter. Did your spoiler stay on? I have fitted my E60 spoiler 3 times now and each time it comes unstuck. The spoiler was a cheaper alternative on Ebay and is not 100% flat which may not help. Googling around I see some people use the 3M adhesion promoter so I have ordered some and hoping 4th time lucky!
+Gary Williams Although I do not own the car anymore. I had this on for two years and never had an issue. In fact I put one on an e92 from same supplier and again...was never an issue for over 2yrs.
Thanks Alex!
did it hold the last time ?
Hi, what was the super polish resin for and did you use it. Thanks
+RAYLEGEND takes off any grease, dirt etc. Allows the spoiler to stick better.
Thanks for share
Great video, did you peel the tape From on end to another? I'm putting a spoiler from moto on my e92
Yep, do not peel it all off. Peel and stick as you go.
How does that work. Doesn’t it get stuck when u peel it off. Or is it only coming off the edges.
Hi want to ask, is the tape double sided foam tape?
Hi, yes it is but not a huge amount of foam. You would want double sided but with only a small amount of foam.
Who did you order this spoiler from?
The seller on ebay is bc.moto from Thailand who can supply you with a painted/non painted spoiler for many BMW series.
Actually,I'm eBay seller on eBay,and we update eBay account "bc.moto" to "performance2014" two years ago.Recently, dealer posted the link to me again, so I want to thank you for sharing.
By the way,we are company at Taiwan not Thailand, a lot of people get confused, we hope more people to know Taiwan :D
Who is supplier in Thailand?
Thanks!
I d like to know as well please so I can order.
Do they paint it for u also
Nice video. Thinking of ordering one myself, but I have a question. With only just the 3M tape securing the spoiler, how well does the spoiler withstand pressure washer blasted on it? Appreciate the response. Thanks!
All good. Ran the car for over 2 years using jet wash, polish, all types of weather (live in the UK) and never had any problem. Just remember to clean the surface really well before applying.
Yes thanks for the effort In filming - I was going to go drill and bolt route on my MG boot lid lip spoiler as per the kit that is on the OE product but I don't fancy putting holes in the car and taking inside boot cover off to access nuts etc. it's got full contact area very similar to yours so I am confident now it won't come off
Many thanks
Can u say where u got it from. Seen loads on eBay but am skeptic it might not stick or is rubbish quality
Been a good number of years since I got it..... But it was from Asia. Think it was someone on ebay with a username similar to moto.
Alex Savo thank u
