KTLA 5 News - Keeping Southern Californians informed since 1947.
All the best too everyone on the coast God bless you all ✝️🕊️🇺🇸
We'll pass, thank you.
This is written in the bible😮
You know there was a Whale in South East Florida on December 19th and it was very rare and usually seen in the Pacific Coast. Just thought that was weird . Strange patterns
Why are there bigger waves than usual? Storm coming?
Full moon too
I want to know the same thing
@@LeahBreHappy I checked the Doppler radar and I see 2 whirling fronts one after the other coming from the Pacific.
Winter maybe? Naa
It’s El Niño season. There’s a storm moving in and it’s combined with the king tide.
That was norm, 15-20 yrs. ago. That pier use to be one of the longest piers on the California Coast. Waves breaking over the pier. People dont remember.
Man mentioned was never that bad as now.
The tide is high, but I'm holding on...
I've been there when waves were above the pier .. Sadly we had major beach corrosion too..
Wow thats wild
Those look scary
I live in Ventura not far from the beach & didn’t even know it was that bad I saw a weather alert for coastal flooding but this is on the extreme side we normally don’t see surf that high but pier damage & flooding around the Seaward area has happened many times before.
There were three foot waves inside Ventura Harbor this morning. Wild.
When we were kids we snuck out on the pier when it was closed and all the way out at the end waves were pushing through the floorboards and we got soaked and the whole pier was shaking left and right. It was scary as hell but it was also super fun! Then we drank even more beer and did a speed run up Highway 33 to Pine Mountain. And we smoked about two joints on the way up! 😂
Liar
😄😄😄😄😄
@@710southbound sorry that you don't have much of a clue of how we Southern California kids know how to party and have fun! Now that we're old we just make jokes about how on earth we survived. 😂
@@user-ke9yk5qp3uI totally get what you’re saying. As we get older we look back and go “ what the hell was I doing “ or “ I can’t believe I survived that “ haha
I bet your parents are proud.
It’s been bigger, 1997 and 2012 it knocked over the pier. Pictures in Eric Ericsson’s restaurant.
interesting there must be a disturbance in the weather which is throwing everything off balance
2:16 I can tell this guy is former swift water rescue❤
Never seen anything like it? Where were they in January?
1:16 better get that Tesla out of there; salt water and batteries don’t mix well
Oh, these waves are oh, so spectacular right now."
"....and the hills are alive🎵🎵...with the sound of music🎵🎵..."
You keep on repeating the same stuff over and over again. I'm sure there's some crime out there that you can report.
Seriously, this has always been, and will only get worse. When the ocean decides to eff with you, which it constantly does, it will take a ton of sand and everything from the shoreline away. It's just the way it is, and this will never stop 🤘
ok the tide is going down is that why they say peaking? Since NOAA does not report the Quakes out in Ocean so they say, are these waves from large quakes in the pacific Ocean?
its happening
The Ocean seems to have something to say............
MOTHER NATURE PISSED OFF...AND RIGHTLY SO!!!
Paddle out Chicken Joe...🤙
😂..shuffles can't set
Haha I love that movie 😂
Good to see Alice Cooper back on tv
Dang thats Ventura Pier .. Yes it's been rocking like that b4.. Think I wanna head out & go see.. ofcouse not in the water..
Are these near simi valley
Now those are waves Cali 😮
nothing here in Oxnard ..
This is way too much chop to surf in. Not only that, it has to be cold as ice. Stay away from the shore. A wave can drag a person in. Be safe everyone.
I dont want to say it but this might be starting signs of a poleshift
poleshift?! Does that mean we all turn gay?
@@jcayala4252😂..Californians like pollshifts
It’s a King Tide relating to the moon’s orbit.
There's no surfers out because there is no shape to the waves. It has nothing to do with size or not "taking a chance"
Sensational news, so great. The end of the world is coming. Stay in your home and don’t come out. C Street will finally be less crowded with good surf. The news channels are lame.
Attention: People that live on the California coast. I know this is hard to understand but the waves in the ocean get bigger in the winter than in the summer. Crazy isn't it?
Some can see Bodhi waiting for his set to come in....on another 50yr storm.
Perfect time to get pitted, so pitted 🌊
Surfing USA. Lucky California.
It gets that big all the time, take a break ktla. How about some real news.
Stupid people going near the violent waters😮
NEWPORT IS LIKE A LAKE!!!
It's metal detecting time for coins and jewelry
BE AFRAID!
Ewwww......looks like mother nature is flushing the raw sewage back into the driveways of the homes....lol.
Well maybe that's what it looks like but you were absolutely wrong!
Oh no. Feel bad for the rich people and their luxury houses on the beach. So sad. What a shame. Let's start a go fund me.
Got the biggest barrel ever, shot the pier also
I mean it’s the ocean so yea there’s waves.
Tides that bring in boulders and sweep away the sand.
surf's up!
Kowabunga dudes!! Hang ten!!
The Tempest
The aliens are creating those waves. Good luck.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤I am going down there now everyone. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
22:19 / guy that looks like he just got out of the water warning others not to go into it.
Ya ,,,
Well I guess if you build at sea level, on the beach, why be surprised
Its the fury of mother nature.😂
You report this as if it never happened before, weather happens, stop acting like it’s a surprise to you.
Nobody remembers the 1988 storm.😮
I know what’s up
Place needs a clean sweep anyway.
All you need is a big wave to wash away the lousy governor
They look tsunami like
It won't be long and quearafornya will be begging for federal tax money to save the beach.
don't buy a house on or near the coast. Or rent one either.

Does this reporter have dyslexia? This is possible one of the worst news reports I've ever seen.
Don't worry according to some there are no climate change issues or global warming problems coming😂😂😂
It's not Southern California it's Mexico there is no such thing as Southern California or SoCal it's just Mexico
