    I rode an 1100 for years then stopped riding for quite a bit. For my 65th birthday present to myself, I bought a little 160 and I’ve been having the time of my life riding it around the backroads near where I live! At my age, there’s no need to feed the ego anymore. Enjoy your channel!

      Thanks. Well, it's true. If I had not touched anything, this bike would work with absolutely no issues for at least 10 years. With standard maintenance, of course.

    Your videos give great insight on the CRF300L! It's nice to see how well the bike handles in poor road conditions. I've always liked the idea of a bike that goes anywhere.

    really enjoying your videos! I recently stole a CRF300L to keep my Ural company and after many years of GS1200s, super teneres and KTM super adventures, i can only agree your absolutely right! more engine does not mean more enjoyment!

    You are spot on about engine capacity. Speed and acceleration on big bikes can be intoxicating, but sooner or later it is just boring. Small capacity bikes are way more fun to ride

      I agree. They still get u there. And so many things are just easier.
      Pushing, lifting, loading and unloading, I once transported my drz400 in Fiat Uno.

    Haha, I was in same situation as you with heated seats. I've got crash bar extra led lights installed on my adv bike two seasons ago. Have turned those on twice, both times to show friends how bright those are and telling how useful they will be at night in the woods. Still waiting for that night in the woods where I have to ride in dark, not sitting in front of campfire with booze and friends.

      Yep. That's the reality. I'm thinking about getting rid of my speedometer . I newer look at it anyway

    I’m not really in the ADV sector of riding but like trail and woods. I really want a CRF300 bc holy cow that thing seems amazing!

      It's a fun bike. And really capable. It's not always the best thing, but this bike makes you try things that normally you wouldn't even think about.

    A fun way to think about the size: it is more fun to ride slow bike fast, than it is to ride fast bike slow!

    Putting a lot of "bikers" to shame, riding in that weather, my friend. Kudos!!! Maybe a subject for discussion at gas Talk could be what the costs are like for you in your country. Insurance etc or the biker community in Norway. Nice intro btw.

    What I like about the smaller bike is I'm more relaxed and take less stupid chances. When I ride my klr650 I cruise around 70k secondary roads. When I'm on my 890 Duke I ride like an idiot, and I'm 60!

      Yep. I m relaxed on my 300. And on any 1000cc, I want to win all imaginary 🏁 🏁 🏁

    Thank you for the excellent video! Talking about gas-talks, I would like to know if there is any truth in adding a very minute amount of 2stroke mix oil to a full gas tank to improve the lubrication of the valves and fuel system. Some people complain that the current fuel is a lot "dryer" than a few years back?

    I bought a Husky 701 last year. Now i start thinking a CRF would be very ok too.

      I tried 701 once. Nice bike. Hard and heavy. Crf will be like a couch compared to it. But you should try it.

    Great video but can I ask about those tyres you showed at the end? Are they for the crf? They looked way too wide to fit the existing rimms so can this be done or do you intend on changing the wheels also? I dislike the skinny tyres on my crf so an upgrade like those would look much better. Cheers

      Hi. I think that the widest tire that will safely fit original crf rear rim is 140. I know a guy that runs 160 in supermoto setup, but I know that he changed the rim and front sprocket offset. I don't think that even with rim swap, you will fit more than 160 in crf swing arm . Offset is limited to the moment that the chain is starting to contact the frame.

    A question for an upcoming "Gas Talk". What choices do you have in Norway as far as being able to buy dirt bikes, both street legal and regular off-road-only dirt bikes? With a small population that you have in Norway, I would imagine that you don't have a lot of choices.

      Nothing fancy. Very old Wintex textile suit with removable winter inserts, BMW pro winter 2 gloves, Shubert C3 PRO helmet, Halvarssons balaclava, and Raven snowmobile shoes. What is important is what is under that. I use one set of winter underwear made for polyester and then one set made from merino wool on that. Also, it's important that helmet and shoes are a little bit too big compared to what you normally wear.

      No. Box standard. Only preload on the shock is to maximum.

      No. I just know it will affect the bike. My car rust. My bike rust. My bicycle rust. My snowthrower last max 2 winters because of rust. My shoes last 1 winter. It's just something you have to accept. You can take care of your equipment, but eventually, it will be taken back by the forces of nature.
