At first I worried that the waterfall was going to get that synth wet, but then I realized that the water was flowing backwards so it was safe. 🤓
he must be in australia
@@wretchro100 nah bro he just speaking estonian
Funny bro, it was safe
He filmed it in the My Little Pony universe.
The synth that holds you tighter than your truest love
"That easy". Benn you just gave us our Bob Ross moment for synthesis.
This is art. The cinematography, sounds, ideas, all of it.
Or just arty advertising
@@borututuforte It can be both.
Oh yeah. That's one of the reasons I was glad that you shared the camera type recently, Gabe...I'm into that cinematography as well and I've noticed Benn has been using some type of filters on his lenses for a bit now. I thought it was funny he used some reverb to speak over it, like he was in a cult...or maybe that was his custom comb filter? ;)
art is advertising for the the subject of the piece.

If I was the maker of that synth I would be crying now. With tears of joy. What an absolute perfect review!

Benn, this video is your magnum opus, the crossover of all your passions at once in a stunning fashion, hope you enjoyed making it as much as I enjoyed viewing it.
I would litterally listen to a full length album of Benn playing this synth
while talking!
@@Muselution i'll take the dub version thanks :p
The Poly Brute is a synth that blends the best of modular, analog, digital, software synths with great physical interface.
I've had a hellish day but during that opening sequence I could actually feel a weight lifting. Holy crap, thanks!
I really appreciated the nod to the magic and beauty of losing immense blocks of time to totally zoning into something creative. It's my mantra. I lost a year and a half to it one time and made 4 albums-worth of music that I still listen to today. And wrote a web content management system.
That is awsome. Congrats on your journey! Creating our own music makes life ....Well, it helps the soul breath
ive been doing this for what feels like 3 years, and ive made >40 albums worth of music. I have a few albums i havent released yet
The content management sys, can we hear about it? :)
@Otocol ive been doing this for 4months and i have released 10473 albums. The next 2637 are coming tomorrow
@@mktekuoh that was 20 years ago and WordPress exists now.
Chronically suffering from anxiety and severe depression, your videos have been so helpful to me; Even beyond the music technology factor. Thank you
I keep rewatching this. The opening is so good, and there's something about hearing someone just fall completely in love with an object that puts the soul at ease.
Does one own this synth, or does it own you? Or perhaps we are just it's guardians, getting a glimpse of its beauty, but all the while holding it in trust for future generations...
Thank you for putting this synth on my radar with this love letter of a video, Benn. I went to a music store the other day, saw it hanging on the wall, tried it out and fell completely and utterly in love with the Polybrute. A day later a fair ad for a used one came online in an area I would coincidentally be spending the weekend. I took it as a sign from the universe, picked it up and have been obsessed with it ever since.
The reverb on your voice had me checking my FX busses for a minute there!

“The Polybrute retails for $399.”
I laughed so hard at this, and even harder when you said the actual retail.
Only $399? I’m going to go buy one without even looking now... 🙃
Wonderful production! Many congrats!
Dude you killed it 👏🏼👏🏼. That “losing yourself” in the synth is the entire reason I’m in this, I relate so much to that feeling and love it when indeed the hours fly and I see the sun is coming up and the birds are a’ chirpin. Anyway, amazing heartfelt video, been waiting for my own polybrute to get here for months, hopefully it’ll get here soon.
Peace bro! ✌🏻
I love the way the music follows the narrative - especially going from the lost-in-music, dreamy, nighttime stuff to the early morning vibe
You are fucking killing it man. Amazing content. Can’t believe you’re not one of the biggest synth channels on RUclips.
He will be, these things take time 😉
lol.
Just wait 👌🏻
He really should be considering the quality of music he's produced as the Flashbulb
He kind of is... I was a guitarist and drummer 90 percent of my music career and now that I'm exploring synthesis he's one of the first artists/people I've come to love
benn, you've quickly become my absolute favorite youtuber! the blend of science and insightful musical tips and everything in between has truly been a breath of fresh air!! greetings from Colorado!
What type of Netflix style cinematography, soundscape, narrative documentary am I watching?
Feels good to find an inspirational instrument to get the creative juices flowing.
From the comments I know I'm not the only one rewatching this over and over and over. You really should be getting alot of money from Arturia for this one, it's simple the best advertisement for the Polybrute they could really ask for! ♥
When my wife yells at me about gear its just habit now to blame Benn Jordan. Don't worry, she doesn't know where you live (yet).
These moments when the postman rings and a new package with gear arrives, and you desperately try to smuggle it in while wife doesn't look, "it's just ehh he brought... it's nothing" and she stands right in your way when you reenter the apartment, knowing exactly you bought an expensive piece of gear, again 😁
@@allyouracid pro-tip: tell her it's a package for the neighbors 😉
@@SyntheticFuture that sounds good, but first, I have to buy more gear, so she won't notice a new item on my desk haha
…I wish this hobby was a bit less addictive heh
@@allyouracid you can also try to overwhelm her 🤔 Just order so much that it becomes incomprehensible and the body shuts down in self defense and just ignores it.
POLYBRUTE / HYDRASYNTH studio done 😁
Prophet 10
Novation Summit, i got one and it's fucking sick.
i got mine 5 weeks ago, havent put it down yet. All other synths are gathering dust. its just awesome. its musical, the morphing is amazing, the effects are top quality. Just a lovely piece of kit.
This is a love letter. Amazing work Benn!
Every synth lover should do a love letter to one (or more ) of his synths.
I'll write/record one for either my Microbrute or the JX-8P
Omg! A love letter to a synth. Beautiful sound matches the beautiful images and editing. Masterpiece.
My god, Benn, that was one of the most thoroughly enjoyable and delightfully psychedelic youtubes I’ve seen in a great while. Thank you, sir. I soooo want one now!!
I love that your voice has a built in reverb. Or your studio is in an enormous cavern. Either way, very cool.
Arturia just took anything good that has ever been made in a synth since the 70s, put it in a box and added a huge 64 slots modulation matrix. This synth is a future legend, it’s good to see a company take a risk with something new instead of just try to replicate a vintage synth like so many companies are doing now.
If Behringer steal this like they did with keystep I'm going to destroy that company Reddit style. This is safe to say as this is a far to complex thing for them to clone and Behringer is all about quantity and bad taste over quality and style anyway.
Just wrote this here because I like to mention what a bs company Barfinger is wherever it fits.
Arturia here again proves to be the total opposite and I wish them well in earning more than their money back and reach the moon.
The amazing thing too is arturias build quality. No doubt in my mind that this thing will still be around, looking damn near the same 35 years from now.
@@jonaseggen2230 I know the stockmarket currently being kicked is awesome, but "destroy that company reddit style" is still a hilarious thing to say
@@EpicStuffMan1000 Thank you : )
I might need to stimulate the economy
i love that this video basically has you going into blackhole reverb for 100% of it.
What a simple, fresh, and innovative way to showcase the polybrute (or anything for that matter) ….. 10/10. Great Job !
You're making some of the best music content on RUclips and always have thoughtful commentary to share. You've quickly become a personal favorite and must watch. Kudos and cheers to your hard work.
I do love me some Arturia. They have really come a long way.
This is now the gold standard of product information videos.
This was a delight to watch and your playing/composition was equally wonderful. Thank you for creating this. :)
Beautiful sounding synth and an awesome video, Benn. Thanks for the GAS!
Did you end up buying it?
Yeah I have one!@@dynatwenty
I wanna get it, i assume youre happy with it? 🙂🙂
This shit is CRAZY. the sound, the visuals. 😱😱 really good work here. ✨
Oh my goodness. Everything you make with the Polybrute sounds as magical as the feeling of being lost in your creativity that you described. I can really see the passion you put into your music, it’s so inspiring!! Keep up the amazing work Benn!
Poetic video. The editing, the music, that reverb... all very pleasant to watch and listen. Gonna go play with my Prophet...
it really has its own sound, rich, complex, bright and warm, that coupled with stunning reverbs makes this just an amazing dream machine
From the moment this synth came on the scene I was in love with it. Even with all the pro synths that came out last year (you know who you are..)it's the one that I will save for to get:)
I just got mine, and I’m blown away on how great it sounds. Owned lots of analog synths and this thing blows me away in tone and expression
I‘m blown away. Pure synth meditation. Ahhhhh......
Possibly one of the best Synth vids I’ve seen! What a fantastic intro, just beautiful
this is so wonderful. please feel free to take us on as many journeys like this as you see fit.
Why did literally every reviewer say they gonna make more content with the Polybrute but a year later no one did?
I think this is my favourite video you've released. The intro and atmosphere throughout are just gorgeous! I also love the unashamedly-biased review/demo format. While I can't see myself getting a Polybrute any time soon, it looks totally mesmerizing. Arturia seem to have gone to a whole new level. Here's hoping you keep getting lost in it!
Most creative synth video I've ever seen. Wonderful music with soul. Nice work . Thanks for this 18 min 🙌🏻
I've watched a LOT of your videos, and this one just might be the best at least as far as being pure enjoyment. Your informative videos are invaluable and all the rest are amazing and fun as well. This one was just homey and awe-inspiring.
Got one a couple weeks ago. It's the modern-day CS80. I am absolutely enjoying it for hours too.
yep that how i described it also, happy noodling.
@@barrakingbeatz7794 Same to you!
The shot with the polybrute on a keyboard stand in the water was pretty but stress inducing 😬
my heart stopped for that second when you said it retails for $ 399...
Me too. In that second I'd made so many plans.
Thanks for the heads-up. I think that would've broken me.
Damn i was almost caught haja
Ngl fam Ben had us there in the first half
Dude, what a great piece of content you’ve created. Loved hearing how you use the instrument and your experience with it. ARTURIA, PAY THIS MAN!!!!
This is, by far, the most amazing keyboard video I've ever watched.
I feel the same way about my Quantum. Nice to see such strong passion and how you conveyed it.
Arturia is killin’ it right now. Just got their Keystep Pro and effects suite of plugins, and I’m having a blast. Your video was amazing, and easily one of your best on the channel. Can’t wait to hear what you make on that beast.
I've had the Polybrute on order for over four months, it's been delayed 5 times but tracking says it is on the way just customs inspection holding things up then I'll be lost in this wonderful soundscape forever...
Wonder why it's delayed in customs... Probably just playing with it an forgetting they have to send it to you 😂
@@SyntheticFuture If only....I live in the Uk and Brexit has screwed over a lot of imports, just another reason I need the Polybrute to arrive so I can lose myself in hours of meditative noodling on the Polybrute to de-stress
@@enochroot9438 ah yes that brilliant move by the British government =l Sorry to hear mate. Hope it arrives soon!
Great video, Benn!... amazing visuals, great sounds and good stories / narration. I'm sold! Well, technically, I placed my order in the first hour after announcement... so was already sold, but very, very excited to play the PB.
@2:30 ~ @3:30 absolutely sounds like Floating Points. I love how you can seemingly sound like other artists while always having something unique that makes me know it is you. Plus, you have tons of music that only sounds like you. :)
What a phenomenal instrument, and you gave it the introduction and demonstration it deserves. The thing is astounding, and I can't wait to hear what you do with it in future.
came for a synth review, stayed for a spiritual journey.
Dope.
I could listen to this all day
I love my Polybrute. I wish they would make an add on Module to increase the Voices to a 12 Voice - maybe in the ODD / EVEN Mode...
This video made me feel a very emotional joy, not just the regular chemical rush of being stimulated by a new youtube video. Best synth video out there.
Now Benn’s voice out of subconscious space will live in my head. But I’m ok with it.
honestly I think comparing it to Roland or Korg is a disservice. This is closer to the Moog One.
It says to me 'Jupiter-6' of our era, in several ways.
Wow Benn, the X3! My very 1st synth. Still use it (occasionally) and partner it with the WaveState. Loved your PolyB review. For me, its the PolyB or the UDO Super 6. Two very different synths, but both are (IMO) fantastic instruments. I may eventually flip a coin, cause at this point I go back and forth on a daily basis. The PolyB (while only 6 voices) is a monster. Six voices never stopped the OB or Prophet 6!
that sound at 3:09 is just so good! that alone has sold me on the polybrute
Been listening to that opening ambient jam on loop. Very good for coding. Please do make more
yeah i played with it just for 30 or so miutes and it blew my mind in an other demension.......absolutely incridible. worth every single penny!!!!!
i swear i commented this on 2:44 long before hearing you say " it worth.......... "
"A highly expressive block of wood" is the best phrase I never thought I'd hear
Benn, you are simply a wonderful human.
This is my next big purchase. It sounds fantastic
Any tool in the right hands is perfect result, the right tool in anyone's hand can be perfect too.
Amazing! Spiritual even. This brought the feelings out in me, I was vicariously soaking up a little of your joy playing it. And now this synth is on the top of my wish list. Thanks for the great video.
That cave looks like part of a side quest, might be a lever in there that fixes that waterfall
Great video, what a wonderful synth. While I probably won’t be able to fit one into my office (the drums take up quite a bit of space), your comment about Arturia’s growth really resonated. I’ve got a controller and a Minibrute 2S from them and I love the gear. The few times I’ve had support questions, I thought they were great to deal with.
The review is nice and I've almost fall asleep because of the voice in a reverb ))
I've watched this video 5 times now. Feels like a shortfilm. So close to buying the Polybrute
@ Hows it working out for you?
Arturia (or anyone for that matter) could not buy such review for the money! Kitchen table because it’s a food for the soul :) Brill playing, Benn!
... I though it started shipping, but you’re a chosen one, which is well deserved of course :) why, oh why they can produce it faster and for everyone. World would be a better place!
This is the best synth video I've seen in a very long time
I just bought a polybrute. Waiting for the order to be shipped, but man, I'm so freaking excited for this instrument!
Just sitting here being in awe and becoming inspired by what this thing can do. Love your vid, would enjoy seeing more of you on this machine.
imagine somebody walking by in the woods past a waterfall like :O
IS THAT A POLYBRUTE?
This should be in a category of ASMR...
Wow, this was my, oh just one more video before sleepy time, what a wonderful piece, subbed
I’ve been on the fence about saving for this or Matriarch. While the Matriarch can interact notably better with my small collection of modular gear, this video really shines a great light on this synth and it’s capabilities - namely, that it can sound almost exactly like what I want my eventual modular rig /to/ sound like.
This, coupled with Arturia’s dedication to supporting their instruments post-release with firmware and hardware “DLC” (i.e. Micro Freak and Keystep/Beatstep Pro), well...man!
You definitely sold me on this. Good stuff.
Watching for the 3rd time now. A piece of art, so beautiful and emotional!
Stopped the video at 8:24 to say, that you opened the curtains and the sun had come up and the birds were doing stuff? I guess I'm bang on! ;D
This is an amazing video, I’m in love with the aural possibilities of the Polybrute, but from the get-go, with all of your noodling and tweaking, as well as the intro footage, I’m reminded of the imagery, tonality, and texture that made me adore your music in the first place. You’re amazing Benn, thanks for making me feel like I was 14 all over again.
I do wish I could afford this, both monetarily and in studio space.
ye there are no keybeds I'm willing to swap out for it
Haha.. in the same boat here! This thing still sits at the top of my GAS list right now though.
I could get one, but it would require to sell every other pieces of gear I own ; it would make space for it tho
I love the feature set on this synth so much. Which is why the simple fact that I don't really enjoy the sound is so painful
(edit: the sound in general from multiple videos, Benn makes it sound as good as possible of course)
what exactly don't you like about the sound? all the vids ive seen it sounds pretty jaw dropping
You're not alone. I had the same reaction to the Matrixbrute: You can gussie it up with all kinds of cool modulation (which is awesome!), but the raw oscillator and filter tone is somehow just ok. Not bad, just somehow... vanilla and uninspiring.
Different strokes for different folks.
@@ericpeters0n That was my feeling as well. I've had a MicroBrute pretty much since it came out and I think I bought it more out of excitement for analog than actually evaluating whether I really liked the sound. After getting to know it I just felt that the overall sound was just kind of dull but without being particularly thick either. Not what I want out of a synthesizer personally and everything I've heard from the PolyBrute has that kind of sound to it. But like you said, different strokes. Luckily there's lots of products to choose from in this category.
Pero ese problema no es del polybrute es tuyo, sino mira Benn coml lo hace sonar de hermoso.
You're pushing this synth through the Tannhäuser Gate 😍
The extra time spent editing paid off. A real joy to watch. A taste of the joy of getting to spend hours with such a cool synth.
Wow! That was an absolutely amazing video. Truly blown away.
Sounds great! It oddly reminds me of the sound of my favorite synth, the Prophet 12, which is a synth many people don't like at all. It's got a futuristic, starkly NOT VINTAGE sound, which is something I am always down with.
Absolutely mind blowing intro! Wow!
The MatrixBrute is amazing too! :) Can't wait to see what else they do in the analog synth space.
So you definitely sold me on the polybrute but more than that you showed me what amazingly beautiful music you make. I’ve enjoyed your channel for some time, mainly because you’re funny, you seem very genuine and you make interesting videos, even if it doesn’t pertain to my exact gear or whatever. But you showed me another level with the music and filmmaking in this video. Thanks for the next level content man. You rock
Very visceral. Very real. Like standing on a beach when the tide is out at sunrise and just taking it all in. Very raw. Subbed.
Set the stand up..check again ..triple check..place synth on stand ..do a little wobble test whilst holding on tight..walk away backwards slowly ready to pounce
