It's at the New Wave hall. That's in Sochi, Russia, the same place where he first sang Sinful Passion with A-Studio in 2018. I think Igor Krutoy is a big part of the music festival and singing competition that is held there every year, so it probably made arranging the exotic stage and orchestra setup easier when one of the festival organizers initiates the request.

There is an absolutely incredible fan made video using "Stranger," which is a six minute mini--movie featuring wolves in the snow, giant birds flying above and a solo hiker trying to make his way through deep snow drifts. The satisfying and heartwarming ending is one that is hard to forget. It is absolutely stunning and feels a lot like what you were imagining when you watched this. Look it up on youtube. At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again"
Hmm interesting interpretation, but it does make sense. His lyrics here seem to be trying to sympathize with foreigners and immigrants and unite the world in a way.
Actually this was at the New Wave Festival in Russia where Dimash was a judge. He introduced 3 new songs at this event, obviously using his fame to draw in audience for the young performers being judged. The female announcer was thanking Dimash for the emotions felt during this amazing song. Dimash was thanking her, his Dears, Igor Krutoy (the song composer and pianist) and shouting out the famous kobys player from Kazakhstan at the very end. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that. The kobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. In the end of Stranger he introduced him to the audience and he thanked them. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazahk and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. There is an absolutely incredible fan made video using "Stranger," which is a six minute mini--movie featuring wolves in the snow, giant birds flying above and a solo hiker trying to make his way through deep snow drifts. The satisfying and heartwarming ending is one that is hard to forget. It is absolutely stunning and feels a lot like what you were imagining when you watched this. Look it up on youtube. I usually find it by typing the words stranger/dimash and wolves in the snow.

❗Dimash is a Kazakh, a direct descendant of the original indigenous people of his nation, he lives tradionally, the extended family under one roof, his values and culture extremely important to him.Their ancient icons are the steppe wolf, steppe eagle, the Kazakh horse, fire and their revered mountains. You will sometimes see one or more of them or hear the calls of one or more of them somewhere in photos, concerts, his videos and films. I was struck by the faint call of steppe eagles at the very end of his epic The Story Of One Sky and tears came to my eyes. I grew up there and recognized the sound, surprised myself and thought uncharacteristically emotional, oh Dimash, how like you, your love for your "Holy land" so deep in your soul.

At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound.
Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again"
Hmm interesting interpretation, but it does make sense. His lyrics here seem to be trying to sympathize with foreigners and immigrants and unite the world in a way.

Actually this was at the New Wave Festival in Russia where Dimash was a judge. He introduced 3 new songs at this event, obviously using his fame to draw in audience for the young performers being judged.
The female announcer was thanking Dimash for the emotions felt during this amazing song. Dimash was thanking her, his Dears, Igor Krutoy (the song composer and pianist) and shouting out the famous kobys player from Kazakhstan at the very end.

He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that.
The kobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. In the end of Stranger he introduced him to the audience and he thanked them.
As a Kazakh he speaks Kazahk and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable.
Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range.
Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯
