Mother gorillas don't let anyone touch their babies until the babies are over a year old or so. Genki had Gentaro taken from her because she wasn't producing enough milk. He was hand raised by keepers. She never forgot that. She is more worried about the humans than the gorillas.@@SheilaNeblett

This is my favorite time - Gentaro was chubby and sweet, playing a lot with Momo and zookeeper. Genki's fur looked much better, rising Kintaro took a lot of Genki's health=(
She was such a good mom. I wish they could get along this good now,I guess they think they are older they don't need love, but I have seen other gorilla families that still show affection even if the gorilla is grown up. I wish Genski could have another baby if she could live long enough to raise it,it would be great if she had a girl, she could spend time with and she would not be lonely,I don't think she likes spending time with the boys that much, and Kentaro could see what it would be like to be a uncle. Genski is so happy when she has a baby

Nobody was going to take this baby away from her. I'm so glad Genki got to finally raise a baby all on her own.
That is why I think she doesn't let Gentaro or dad, hold him, she thinks she might not see him again
