Like I said, I don’t hate this year by any means, I quite enjoy it! But these are the things that I feel they still need to work on to remain the best, coming from a supportive customer who’s been shopping at Spirit since 2012!
i hear a lot of people say that this is one of spirits best years yet
I personally think that last year’s lineup was a bit better than this year’s. I only really want 2 of them this year, those being Emily and Wanda Webworth. A lot of the props could’ve been done way better: Mack Straw, Demonic Gatekeeper, The Cremator etc. Yes the prices are steep, but at least there aren’t any $400 animatronics this year…
I agree, the names sounded awesome and I think we forgot that this is Spirit Halloween, who in the last few years hasn’t really been so innovative with their character designs

I think this year was alright
There were some pretty good ones (Cremator, Giant Death Ray, Wanda Webworth, Emily, Victor, Art, Michael, Ghostface, Gravestone Ghoul, Nibbles and Bobby Strings) but there were some I kinda thought could’ve been better (Night Terror)
I give this year a 9/10 (last year was definitely 10/10 for me…same with 2021)
I feel like the animatronics gravestone ghoul , night terror etc were just taken to fill the ISE and were thought of in less than 10 minutes. They could've at least made them have unique designs like a vampire thrashing behind a tomb instead of a zombie or a hunchback Igor type character instead of a black pumpkin for night terror
Exactly, just things we haven’t seen much of before. But nope. We get the same old clowns, reapers, skulls and pumpkins. Year after year.
I agree. Great video, very well said. I really hope someone from Spirit can hear this, and fix it for next year.
great video and topic of discussion. The problem is in reality, Spirit can not compete with HD's buying power so in the end they can demand more from vendors as well as exclusivity so companies like Tekky or SVI will reserve their best for HD
Very true statements, it is a somewhat disappointing reality for die-hard spirit fans but nonetheless is extremely exciting knowing how many other companies are taking it seriously. When spirit was the only one they had no fear, now I hope they start to worry some and gain motivation to up the game.
As much as I enjoy this year's lineup, your points are very valid and are points that I think need to be brought up. Spirit is great, they always will be great, but they get an insane amount of praise just for being Spirit, despite the fact they pump out some animatronics that if they were released at any other store apart from the Spirit brand name would probably be looked over. The Cremator for example. Very well made video.
I do for sure agree that these animatronics are over praised just because they come from spirit. I’ve heard people talk more about props like Demonic Gatekeeper or Mack Straw over the floating Reaper from Home Depot, and in my opinion at least, that thing is miles better than most of spirits line up. I’m not sure if it has to deal with spirit reaching out to haunters, so other haunters glaze spirit hoping for a chance to be recognized, or if it’s just a band wagon thing. But either way, I think much of the younger side of the community (which is a good bit) is blinded by spirit’s ability to “sponsor” them, and forgets that their kind of being cheated out of. Like I said, I enjoy spirit, I want them to succeed and we all know what they’re capable of, I just hope we see better from them soon.

Spirit Halloween has awesome animatronics this year. The problem is that they are WAY too expensive.
As always yes, price is an issue. Cheaper than last years, but still. Most of my money is going to Home Depot and I’m happy with that because I know I’ll be getting better quality in return

I personally think this year is better than last year. We have 2 of the best clowns ever made, some very unique props like wanda and death ray, and even the simply props like gate keeper and grave stone ghoul are peak simple props
I see your point definitely, and yeah that’s why I said spirit is stepping it up because of the unique props and weather resistant ones, but it’s just the type of characters we get that take up 80% of the lineup, whenever we get these same kind of characters every single year. Clowns, reapers, ghouls. I just feel like there needs to be more originality. Wanda and Ray were definitely steps in the right direction though. So as long as spirit sees that we appreciate props like that, I hope they’ll continue to grow to the side of Halloween
Imo this is one of my favorite years, Mak Straw is my favorite this year, and plus it feels like Halloween (to me anyways)
This year is great it has like chracters that really fit in the theme, but overall the problem with cotton candy dan is that in his box when you open it some parts of his jaw looks broken and messed up which seem to be the main problem with some peoples cotton candy dan

Spirit needs to start making classic but also unique props like vampires,witches,Franklin stine and stuff like for example making a vampire prop like count vigor where it’s like Dracula instead bald vampires that wear red cloaks and stuff
I really love this years lineup, but some prips could definitely use improvements like you said
I would also think that Home Depot is probably making better quality due to them probably thinking about there customer base who prefer a lot of outside props that need to last in harsh weather where a lot of the props spirits make will say indoor use even though many people put them outside anyways
Say if there will be 2 clown themes or maybe a carn evil in the front and maybe a different theme like the back as the older years 🎃 how will the other props fit in to the theme we will have to see !
I believe they’ll do a freak show for the other “weirder” characters
I feel like spirit Halloween is too scared to frighten children. Every year the shy away from blood or gore more and more. When I was little I was scared of spirit but I still always came back and grew to even love it. They also focus so much on the animatronics they don't give a chance for more detailed static props. One of my favorite things spirit ever made was see through Sindy. A genuinely bloody scary zombie. Now I feel like props that logically should have blood on them don't.
I fell like spirit Halloween have scarier animatronics and sprit makes more jump-scares (which I love) but I agree with a lot of the video
I agree with that too, Home Depot doesn’t do too many creative jump scare props but that could be why they have better quality items tbh.

Alright, this is gonna make me sound like a consumerist pushover (which I kinda am, so…)
But I’m honestly very satisfied with where spirit is now. Of course, there are things that could make them better, but they’re at the level that I’ve wanted them to be at. I do wish they experimented with new technology a bit more, and used more servos, but oh well. Maybe next year?
I collect this stuff just because I like it, I don’t think too hard about buying these FOR Halloween, I just think it’s neat. While Home Depot for example may make the best Halloween decorations, I feel like, to me at least, spirit has always been about the characters and concepts, and that’s what I like. Home Depot has cool stuff, but their props come down to “cool Frankenstein” or “cool reaper” rather than “a soul sucking demon that’s removing a child’s life force” or “a mutated woman mixed with a doll”.
Those are just my opinions though, I’m not saying I disagree with anything
Yeah I’m satisfied too, like it doesn’t make me mad or anything that spirit is in the state they’re in. It won’t change my life really. But I’m just saying this because as a company, spirit should really view things like a competition and right now, they’re kinda slow or afraid of tapping into new things. And yeah I get what you mean, Home Depot does to basic characters, but to an extreme level. While spirit does cool concepts, but to a bland level, at least just in my opinion. This year is still good nonetheless and I’m happy with it. But I do enjoy spirit as a company, and I could only imagine what their props would be like if they adapted to better quality items. Imagine some of their characters with the quality of Home Depot, that would be epic.

How Spirit needs to improve: DONT SCREW IT ON EXECUTION!!!
A lot of these from Spirit this year are very questionable. Who's Wanda Webworth? SHE ISN'T EVEN human like we originally THOUGHT! Who's Dark Princess? I'm buying her but she don't wear a crown if you know what I mean. The only real innovation Spirit has this year are Nibbles with the motion tracking system, and "Giant" Death Ray because he's over average human height and has servos?? And Cotton Candy Dan, where's the proper costuming he's a cotton candy parlor not a generic clown?!?
So yeah, Spirit step it up!

Idk I'm really happy with the 2 horror animatronics which are Michael Myers and ghostface personally they are my fav but I've always Said this even on Instagram and now here. is that spirit is always being over hyped back in the days of older spirit that I grew up with they actually had their head in the game and wanted to be scary and they basically lived up to there slogan until the fall of I would say 2021 and 2020 they got so advertised and so many fans who are like 7 and 12 just started coming in and basically they just went childish and cartoony they went for the less gore and less horror in some props it was honestly boring. I'll always support spirit but it's coming to a point now where half of there stuff is kinda shit, like this years animatronics aren't hitting the spot id give it a 6/10 I was happy with spirit Halloween 2023 because they were actually scary and they have a few jump scare props and I was happy it felt like we had the store we once remembered but spirit then lost a lot of good companies that made spirit... Spirit and now they all left and now we have new companies coming in not knowing what the hell they are doing but just trying to make dump shit.

Yeah I definitely agree. I think what needs to be done is that they release some props with that cartoony style, but limit how many they do, then also do props that are realistic. It’s all about balance and I feel like spirit has just kinda lost that for sure
2020 just feels more nostalgic to me for some reason (same with 2021)

Some of the animatronics look styled/cartoony especially Mack Straw, Gatekeeper, and Bobby Strings. All three would have been better if they had more realistic and scary designs.
I also think Mack Straw is pretty underwhelming. I made a scarecrow animatronic last year which is pretty much the same as Mack Straw but his head moves much faster and it has a more realistic design.
I agree. Although I enjoy Bobby Strings, he would’ve benefited from being a realistically sized puppet. Because now people know that he’s just a fun decoration. And yeah that’s the whole vibe I’m getting from this year, while good, it’s just underwhelming
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. People were like, “Spirit won this year!” but I personally don’t agree. Their stuff this year is fine and all, but that’s it. It’s just fine. Stuff at Home Depot this year is truly what won in my eyes.

Ok lemme get my typing hands ready..
Spirit 2024 is kinda. 50/50 honestly it’s good and it’s bad honestly. Spirit really has went downhill since 2020 (2021 was a good year). But I really had some hope for this year and trust me spirit did pretty well (I can’t use my good vocabulary rip). From what I see is the quality too spirits quality was never really good? I’d say like the quality in clothes, mech, how it works etc etc. Before any replies yes spirit isn’t like distortions or any of that fancy stuff. I get it. But like 380 for a prop..? + tax like oh my gosh. The props last were totally better then this year darling dolly really grabbed my attention and many others. I also feel as though they listened to us cause it was the 40 year anniversary and this year they are just continuing to throw props out at us. Honestly some props deserve more hype than others in my honest truth. Home Depot and Lowe’s did awesome this year and I can’t actually wait for this year for Halloween. Spirit back then was awesome I’m gonna be honest. 2016 was my first year so I have no room to talk in this community. But I’m really hoping spirit listens to us one day and steps up. Like maybe hire more professional people? I don’t know I’m not apart of their team. Home Depot is making their props look so professional and well looked that makes everyone say “wow!”. I might as well be yapping at this point but it’s just my honest and hard truth in my opinion. I am really hoping they step up in the future especially for someone who loves spirit.

I honestly think these props might have been just left over ideas or something. Maybe they just took a step back from last year because 2023 was honestly pretty good. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes, but like we both mentioned, the hardware stores are bringing an insane amount of game to the competition, so whatever spirit has going on back in those offices, they really need to get things together and fast. (Not trynna be mean) but These kids who glaze spirit so they can get sponsored will soon get older and realize what the value of a good and fairly priced prop is. The pieces of the puzzle are coming together finally. Spirit markets to kids now because kids are the main ones who worship them and got the company truly famous. Especially in these past couple of years. Mostly because of these PR boxes they send out every year. I enjoy spirit too. As a loyal customer since 2012, I know what they can do, and right now they’re just in a cheap time of the business. I honestly don’t like harping on spirit or this community, but the change starts with us. And if everyone is going to continue praising them, then no change will be made. Maybe people are fine with getting ripped off $300 for a pole and creepy cloth. But I’m taking most of my money to Home Depot. With that being said, this year is just fine. But what gets me is that the problem I had 2 years ago stands now. And I thought things were going to get better after the great props last year, but like you said, I guess it was just for the 40th anniversary when they decide to listen.

Mainly because there hasn’t been much news out for it besides the new show. However new merch is coming soon so I might do videos on that. I do mention it from time to time on the channel though.
