Russian oil company "Transneft" gave us blueprints of all this things.
I would be interested to make this type of animation for commercial projects. DM me if interested.

am surprised this was done in Maya, u created the models in Maya or the tanks and the pipes and pumps where already given to you
We made all models in Maya. By hands. We looked at the blueprints and photographic material and made the models. =)
great, if I send you a blueprint and some pictures, can you do same, sure will pay a couple of dollars to you, I intended using PDMS but it bailed on me

OK I have a plan dwg file , but am having trouble modelling the tanks and the pipes and the valves and some other structures
I think if you have good blueprint and photos (or maybe just photos) it is not a problem to make 3d model by hands for middle level 3d-designer.
