    Hi Al just looking back at you up on your beacon , with your IMAX 2000 like you said the other day how much we keep changing stuff and we will get out when the conditions are right, but great to find the one that really works, at home and mobile, 91 division and just watching your face and being so happy that yes it bloody works sometimes, Allan, can't wait to speak with you one day mate, and got £300 to spend on a rig this Monday, love your videos and when you are live it makes me feel better in myself, to see you happy, sorry long story but looking forward to seeing you live next week I think you said, anyway sorry for the doctor's appointment but love your show wish I could do it myself Allan, take care mate Alan from LUTON 💯👍👍👍

      Thanks, buddy Im really happy that you enjoy the Live streams and videos, It certainly makes it all worthwhile, seeing the lovely comments I get, that in itself makes me very happy, but sometimes life can give us a big knock back, struggling myself this last week, with bad news and people trying to rip me off.
      My live stream should be in about 2 weeks as im off to Stourbridge next Friday to see a Depeche Mode tribute band. Ill keep you all posted in my next video. Thank you so very much for your continued support, comments and likes. A great community with my subs i seem to have built up . Take care and good luck getting a radio. Best 73

    You could get a thin metal pole (the CB aerial type that slot together) and make it a lot higher, then put your aerial on top. The pole will also act as the other part of a ground plane. Even better, take an earthing rod and bolt it to your plate you drive on, and tap the rod into the ground. Electrical earthing rod. It will almost be like a huge dipole.

    Hi Allan, you have gave me a great idea to try an Imax 2000 i am not using just in the same way. I am surprised it works so good at that height or propagation was very good that day or both. I thought that for optimal performance with the lowest radiation angle for DX the Imax should be around 1 wavelength high. Looks i am wrong. Until now my favorite mobile antenna is a 1/4 wave stainless steel whip over a special mount (not a magnetic mount) on top of my SUV. I will mount the Imax the same as you and compare both to see any difference in performance. 73 DE 2AT111

    • @Al.26TC101
      @Al.26TC101  Год назад +1

      Hi , well the Imax was just redundant and thought I would at least try it mobile, a bit more stable in the wind , maybe? Good luck and would like to see your findings. I always gain about 3 S points on TX and RX when I change from my sirio 4000 to using the SSD5/8+ on the pole , but it is quite higher on the pole, good luck.

I enjoy the experimentation on these things and yes i guess if conditions are good then a wet bit of string would work well.
