The vertical movement on the pins...My pulled up and now they have pulled the Turret head about 1/4 inch apart ... so there is serious play and the brakes partially release... the whole boot moves about an inch up and down... They could be just barely skied out in my last ski tour.. which was fortunately not so far .. but I had to favour one side and keep compression on the ski to keep the boot engaged... with a side turn where the pins pulled up and seperated the head I could not turn. So I just either turned one way and snow-ploughed and then turned the other way... I cannot see how the turret head keeps the pins in... I do not see a screw in front.

Hey Rod, sorry to hear about this - definitely not normal behaviour for these bindings. I'd get them into the shop ASAP and let them look at them, could be a warranty issue? At least something G3 should and would want to know about.

Did G3 ever fix the vertical play in the heel pins?

Hey Stephen, yes they did in the second iteration of the Ion's - no more issue!

been using these for 3 years, now it's a complete mess! the turet returns to downhill position during ascent.... brakes don't lock upward anymore... these became useless

It sounds like you have some of the first generation Ions, these ones did have some issues as you mentioned and If I were you I would contact G3 and see if they can help in any way. I had a pair of these early Ions and got mine replaced with the newer version and everything works perfect now!
