I really like the Delicas. It's a shame that Mitsubishi stopped making them. I love the new van over the older one but must admit that it is a bit of a gas guzzler. Can't beat a van for trips though. Thanks, Glen!
I always hit the thumbs up before the intro's over...I enjoy your videos because it's good honest content that isn't over produced or heavy on the gear talk (snooze). I can relate to it as an outdoor photographer because it's real.
Cheers, Jon! Good to know. I like gear as well and will cover it now and then, but am not particularly great at explaining all of the minutia or nuances of equipment and to be totally honest at the end of the day, with nature photography anyway, it really is all about the experience rather than the images. I really believe that if you're having a generally great outdoor experience the images will reflect that. I really enjoy looking at images and gaining inspiration from others as well, not so much their gear, haha thanks again.
Cheers, Leffe! perhaps because I have lived in BC for so long now some of our great wilderness I take for granted? Rosewall forest is very beautiful but when compared to an old growth forest it just doesn't compare.
Yes sir, "Life Is Beautiful"! Especially so in the forested Pacific Northwest. Great shots. There is a special glow about green trees and waterfalls on a grey day that can't be beat.
Another great one Adam .... its a rotten time of year with the weather pretty shit and lots of illness going around, so it cheered me up no end to watch you exploring Rosewall. Love that aspect ratio you shoot with, the cinematic feel and the way you are finding new ways to present your images. Keep up the good work as I'm starting to veer towards British Columbia instead of New Zealand for a trip in 2019!
Cheers, David! I'd love to check out New Zealand, I hear it's a lot like BC, except smaller? Good to hear that you're enjoying the videos, it is hard to find new ways to present images without making the whole thing look gimmicky. I guess as long as the images are half decet they should speak for themselves, not always that easy to accomplish though as I am sure you know, haha.
Adam, I can't think of another photographer on RUclips whose work I admire more than yours. Your photos, your editing, your music and your comments all combine to make a wonderfully satisfying whole. It helps I think that I live just south of you (W. Wa)and am very familiar with the type of country that you shoot. Keep up the wonderful work!
Glad to see that by hunting around you discovered a number of different angles to photograph the waterfalls. (The shots of the side falls are my favourites.) It's frustrating when you see a beautiful scene but access is challenging. Patience and persistance pays-off; I've got to pay a bit more attention to both. Thanks for another wonderful vlog.
I really enjoy watching your uploads, the close up long exposure shot of the rocks and fall is stunning.Photography is the greatest hobby....it creates a "one with nature " feeling. Thanks for the upload as usual great images Adam.
You get to shoot in the most stunning locations. Always wanted to shoot locations like this, I love the challenges of the rainforest and waterfalls. Your drone footages is amazing. 👍
Another great job on your video, Adam! I just found your channel recently and subscribed and I really enjoy your work. Keep at it - you have some really beautiful areas to hike in there.
Thank you, Adam, loved the effort to find something less seen. The video introduction was quite pleasing, and you make great images. They give me something to aspire to. We've spend a bit of time at Tigh Na Mara, back when it was just a group of cabins. I am curious about the ND filter (number of stops) you used for the last 2 waterfall shots. CHEERS!
Thanks, Gerry! Our place is actually just past the bridge on Pioneer, so I know that area quite well. The polarizer that I use with the ND filter built in is a Breakthrough Photography X4 Dark 3 stop CPL bit.ly/2uB6adU it also comes ina 6 stop version.
Great stuff Adam, Really enjoyed the waterfall photo. :) … i love plaster boarding as i do this for a living then plaster. great to see a building become a canvas to decorate…. Whilst doing this in the week i think of the moments of going out for a hike and to get the camera out.. snowdon camping next week which though not as cold as Canada, Shall be cold enough for now lol.
Haha its all good we are 10 a penny… sure you will find one quick enough!! good luck. i have family in Ontario , though i think border control would object to me working ahahah
April on Vancouver Island is a time to be at AirForce Beach by Comox - this is the time the SnowBirds come to do their pre-season work-ups for the new members of the team to gel together and learn new routines. With two flights per day usually for about 2 1/2 weeks, there will be many photographers out capturing images.....a treat that many Canadians will be green with envy for. If you can make the time to attend, you may be pleasantly surprised.....
Thanks, Mary! I've only been to East Sooke park once and that was for a run on the trails there. The park is a beautiful area that hopefully at some point I'll spend a bit of time. I'd also like to explore Finlayson Arm, gorgeous up there as well.
Excellent vlog Adam. Keep up the inspirational work. Its been so cold here in Illinois. This gives me inspiration until the weather breaks breaks. I'll be grabbing my D810 soon and getting some winter scapes. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I've seen the brutal weather that you guys have been receiving on the news. Well, I wish you the best of luck when it does eventually break, some of the best winter photo conditions are just when a storm is breaking..
Being just a bit south of you (in Washington), I totally agree that the weather has been the pits. I've been practicing techniques in the house that I can use when I'm out in the field. Feel better!
Awesome stuff, Adam! I totally agree with photographing there in Autumn, as beautiful as it is already some color and being able to get in the river to hunt new compositions would be great! I love how lush everything looks.
Truth be told, I did have (I thought I had ) taken more footage than I did, forgot to push a button somewhere so I ended up talking a bit more than I would have liked. It's all good though, I think that I prefer less talk and more images, lol.
Another great segment. Your b roll photography and drone work is stunning. Still shots are wonderful as usual. Have a feeling you have been an editor in your life. Has the look.
Thanks, Tom! Unfortunately, editing is a relatively new thing for me so it has been a bit of a learning curve and of course, takes twice as long to put a video together. Still, lots of fun and I am sure will get quicker as time goes on, good to hear that my look as if I've been doing it for years.
Great images. Yeah, it really stinks to be sick. I've had an upper respiratory thing for a month and it has been unusually cold here. That kills motivation. Hope you get over yours and take care.
Cheers, Philip! The day after this I got worse so I'm glad I went out when I did. Just getting back to normal now but it sure does kill the motivation, haha. Take care.
Thanks, Steve! The boots are made by Scarpa. Love Scarpa boots and have used their products for many years both for hiking and climbing. Sorry can't remember the model but they are relatively new. They are a bit overkill for short jaunts but are excellent for backpacking. So far the pack is working out great! Very comfortable to carry those heavy loads and it's a bit narrower which has turned out to be a bit of a plus when I'm crashing through the bush. Nothing is coming apart so far. I am very disappointed in F-Stop though as they never got back to me about my pack falling apart, bummer that.
sorry to hear that about Fstop. It just doesn't make sense that they would ignore you or anyone with quality issues of their products. Definitely will not buy any more of their products, personally. I don't want to be associated with "one way" companies.
Fantastic Adam. Beautiful location and footage. Images were amazing and editing top shelf. I thought that water spray was going to soak your camera - maybe it did? Good luck with drywall (sanding it is the worst!). Cheers.
Thanks so much Miguel! No wet cameras here, not yet anyway, haha. Luckily we have someone else doing the mudding and sanding. You're right though not a pleasant job.
Amazing video, Adam. Hope you get more and more space on youtube soon, because your content is really good. Your intros are gorgeous! Could you make a video showing us how you do it? Would be really useful :) Cheers! All the best!
Oh, right, my hiking boots. I've had those for about a year or so, my last boots wore out. These are the same brand, Scarpa, excellent boots all around. The new ones are a little overkill for day hikes but great for backpacking in the mountains.
I actually ticked a like before watching as I don't think you could put out a bad one Adam... Loved the cinematic feel to this and as ever images and footage work so well. Not a techie person but intrigued how you got the video to zoom in as you were speaking? Loved the image at 10.52
All secret tricks of the trade Valley Walker, haha, not! Actually, my editing skills at this point are very basic and I've just been using one or two transitions throughout the videos. Each time I edit a new vlog I try to figure out a new transition that I can learn and use to spice things up a bit. I started doing that in some of my videos too, so i film myself talking in 4k and upload in HD which allows me to zoom in in post without loosing quality :)
Hello I was doing some catching up on some of your older videos and I again noticed that in the irst scene you arrive in a RH drive. A RH drive in Canada???
Wonderful production again Adam. I envy you living where you do. I was on holiday in Whistler and drove to Vancouver. Beautiful scenery. I was based in a place called Golden before we went to Whistler, to snowboard. Have you ventured that far East into BC? Plans to photograph around there?
Cheers, James! I've travelled throughout BC, although not so much in the northern sections. Of course with BC being so large and hard to get around to some areas there is certainly no shortage of places to visit. Eastern BC we have the Rockies so I've explored quite a bit out that way. I know Golden well, as a few years ago I had a head-on collision with a black bear near town. Killed the bear and wrote off my van, it was a heartbreaking experience but luckily I was not hurt.
Adam Gibbs Good grief...now that’s a story. Must have been emotional I’m sure. Golden was under development when I was there in 03. I’m talking about the ski resort. 1 day I will return
When are you going to put out 2 a week? 1 just isn't enough lol. I have said it before and I will say it again, your pictures speak for themselves but your editing is second to none. How about a video of you creating/editing an episode?
Thanks, Brian! Perhaps at some point, I might try two but for now, I'm having enough trouble with one video, haha. The problem is more about editing as my skills are pretty limited at the moment. It has been a bit of a learning curve with the video stuff and of course, takes me way longer to put together than it should. This coming week I am thinking of putting out a follow-up image editing video, we'll see. Good to hear that you cant get enough though, lol.
Yes I am well aware of the learning curve. I am shooting some video tomorrow and hope to be putting one together myself for practice. I have a trip planned in July and hopefully that will give me enough time to become accustomed to the video editor. Keep up the great work, I really do enjoy your channel!
Would love to see a video on how you edit your images. Would be great to see how you interpret your raw captures in Lightroom or whatever software you use.
Tisk tisk tisk. How are you going to sell any workshops if you dont link to it in the description? 🤣 Oh well, I guess I'll have to Google it. Rough living in the 21st century 😉😋
Haha, well I listed everything else but.... I'll; put it in the description. Thanks for pointing that out James. www.quietlightphotoadventures.com/copy-of-juan-de-fuca
Your photos are always so beautifully edited, special and dreamy, obviously the locations help too... and great video this one made me really feel like i was there. Thank you for sharing, Also only if you are interested maybe you would like to see my last video, very helpful with insight from others in the same field :)
Still the best on RUclips. Especially so when I'm watching in heat wave conditions on the East Coast of Australia!
Haha, funny really. Everyone here complains of the cold and in the meantime, many in the south are complaining about the heat. Cheers, Steve!
I think I like your van more each time I see it in your videos.
I really like the Delicas. It's a shame that Mitsubishi stopped making them. I love the new van over the older one but must admit that it is a bit of a gas guzzler. Can't beat a van for trips though. Thanks, Glen!
A pleasure to watch this video, Adam, as are all of your videos, and the photos are stunning!
Thank you, CathyAnn!

Another fabulous video Adam. beautiful photos, amazing scenery, loved it 👏
Cheers, Jason!
Really nice place you explored. If our trees only had been 100 years old, I would have been very lucky. The last image was just gorgeous Adam!
Cheers, Leffe! perhaps because I have lived in BC for so long now some of our great wilderness I take for granted? Rosewall forest is very beautiful but when compared to an old growth forest it just doesn't compare.
These landscapes are really gorgeous and your videos made perfect. Everytime I'm fascinated.
Greetings from Austria
Thanks, Andy! Greetings from Canada :-)
Stunning video and beautiful photographs Adam.
Thanks, Andy!
Yes sir, "Life Is Beautiful"! Especially so in the forested Pacific Northwest. Great shots. There is a special glow about green trees and waterfalls on a grey day that can't be beat.
Life is beautiful, most of the time. Except when you're feeling under the weather, haha. Thanks, James!
Another nice video Adam. Great job.
Thanks again, Ivo!
Love your work Adam, great images!
Thanks, Darren!

Amazing video! Great entertaining skills. Can’t wait to watch more!!
Great video. Superb wide angle shot of the waterfall. Thanks for letting the shots speak for themselves.
Cheers, John!

Thanks, Ken! I very much appreciate the positive feedback, keeps me motivated to keep going with more content, cheers!
Great images and interesting vlog. Love your work. Interested in October workshop
Thanks, Resesh! here is a link if you want to check the workshop out. www.quietlightphotoadventures.com/copy-of-juan-de-fuca
Amazing Imagery ....
Fantastic videos. Greetings from Vancouver.
Thanks! Hello from New West neighbour.
More lovely images and drone footage Adam. Good luck with the renovations and I hope your cold goes quickly.
Thanks, Trevor! cold is almost gone, all is well again ;-)
Beautiful as always!
Thank you, AM M'Mullan! I think that's why it's great if you can visit an area multiple times, the conditions change so much throughout the year.
A cottage on Vancouver Island sounds perfect!
I really enjoy watching your uploads, the close up long exposure shot of the rocks and fall is stunning.Photography is the greatest hobby....it creates a "one with nature " feeling. Thanks for the upload as usual great images Adam.
Thanks, Jillian! Glad to hear that you're enjoying the videos.
Glad you went out, stunning shots with stills and drone. 🙂👍
Thanks, Nicklas!
Glad you took a break from the drywall Adam! What a lovely spot!
Me too! Actually, it wasn't that bad as we have someone else coming into sand and patch which is the part I really dislike. Thanks, Charlene!
Love the images. Hauntingly beautiful, yet peaceful... Well done !!!
Thanks, Frank!
I find it difficult to imagine that place more beautiful than it was in your video. Beautiful images again, as usual. Thanks for sharing
Good to hear, Tony! Thanks again.
You get to shoot in the most stunning locations. Always wanted to shoot locations like this, I love the challenges of the rainforest and waterfalls. Your drone footages is amazing. 👍
Thanks, Brett!
Another great job on your video, Adam! I just found your channel recently and subscribed and I really enjoy your work. Keep at it - you have some really beautiful areas to hike in there.
Thanks, Gary! We certainly do have some awesome locations to hike to.

I always look forward to your videos. Great stuff! And the greens on the ferns, tree's and moss is incredible. Thanks for posting!
Pleasure, glad you enjoyed it. Always fun to romp in the woods with a bag full of camera stuff.
Cheers, Nathan! Too bad you don't live closer as we're looking for a plasterer to mud the walls and finish them off, haha
Haha its all good we are 10 a penny… sure you will find one quick enough!! good luck.
i have family in Ontario , though i think border control would object to me working ahahah
Not only that you would have a considerable drive from Ontario, haha
Tis but a Small detail hahah
A captivating video. Everything you could hope for from a photography video.
Thanks, Brandon!
Hello Adam, you always produce the goods. Great to see you back ...
Thank you, Allan!

I am really glad I found your channel - your work is excellent !!! Keep up the good work.
Excellent news about you 'moving', sort of, to Vancouver Island! More videos on shooting in East Sooke Park; or do you have one?
Thanks, Mary! I've only been to East Sooke park once and that was for a run on the trails there. The park is a beautiful area that hopefully at some point I'll spend a bit of time. I'd also like to explore Finlayson Arm, gorgeous up there as well.
Great video Adam and Awesome photograph's. Would like to visit that Forest someday. Beautiful location.
Thanks, Anthony!
Great vlog and great location, it reminds me of a place called "The Hermitage" near Perth over here in Scotland. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Andy! I'll have to check Perth out.
Beautiful waterfalls and love the mood in the woods. So very different to where I'm shooting. Great video
Thanks, Ralph!
Another great video Adam, awesome waterfall images...
Cheers, Ian!

I feel your pain, the weather this time of year is a bit damp, to say the least, haha. Hang in there spring is on its way.
Awesome stuff, Adam! I totally agree with photographing there in Autumn, as beautiful as it is already some color and being able to get in the river to hunt new compositions would be great! I love how lush everything looks.
Cheers, Josh! I think another trip is in order next fall ;-)
Your vids and photos are 👌🏽. Nicely done!
Started slower than usual but finished amazingly!
Truth be told, I did have (I thought I had ) taken more footage than I did, forgot to push a button somewhere so I ended up talking a bit more than I would have liked. It's all good though, I think that I prefer less talk and more images, lol.
Another great vlog and images
Another excellent scenic location and beautiful shots, great vlog Adam 😉
Thanks again, Richard!
Another great segment. Your b roll photography and drone work is stunning. Still shots are wonderful as usual. Have a feeling you have been an editor in your life. Has the look.

Adam Gibbs I have been an editor since black and white 2inch videotape days. You do have a good natural flair for it.
Beautiful forest, well done Adam!
Take care.
Thank you Adam, superb location. 2 questions: what boots are you wearing there, and how is that backpack working out?

Thanks so much Miguel! No wet cameras here, not yet anyway, haha. Luckily we have someone else doing the mudding and sanding. You're right though not a pleasant job.
Amazing video, Adam. Hope you get more and more space on youtube soon, because your content is really good.
Your intros are gorgeous! Could you make a video showing us how you do it? Would be really useful :)
Cheers! All the best!
Thanks, Pedro! do you mean show you how I make the B roll sections of the video, or?
Very atmospheric shots there adam and wonderful cinematography👍🏻
Cheers, buddy! hope the light is on your side over the pond.
Adam Gibbs not really adam, been very stormy here. But I’ve still managed to get out and shot. How are you finding the d850?
Another GREAT video Adam. Looks like you got new boots. Which ones are they?
The Equalizer, haha. Not sure why they are called that, Muck Boots, I talk a bit about them in my last video, cheers, Ronnie!
I was referring to the boots at the beginning of this video. I saw the bit about the Muck boots.
Oh, right, my hiking boots. I've had those for about a year or so, my last boots wore out. These are the same brand, Scarpa, excellent boots all around. The new ones are a little overkill for day hikes but great for backpacking in the mountains.
Thanks. That helps. I'm looking to buy some new boots, so I'm asking around to see what folks like.
The zoom in was just a new transition that I figured out in Final Cut Pro, I think it's the transform button with a bit of keyframing if that makes any sense?
I started doing that in some of my videos too, so i film myself talking in 4k and upload in HD which allows me to zoom in in post without loosing quality :)
Thanks Adam.... it works very well.
Nice set of shots!

Where can I buy that lens cloth I saw @ the 9 minute mark ?
That was actually my sweater :-)

Adam Gibbs Thanks ☺️ im still a little fresh to the youtube world
