The Dismissal Hymn for the Feast of the Exhalation of the Holy Cross remains a popular hymn in the Orthodox Christian world, even though most modern renditions of the hymn have changed the actual wording. This talk explains the historical circumstance of its creation and illuminates the theological problems of its initial composition.
