  • Earlier this month, Moreland OB-GYN & Associates announced that it is the first provider in Southeastern Wisconsin to offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as an option for pain relief during labor and delivery taking place at ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. Widely used for labor in several countries with high standards of health care, 60%of women in the UK and nearly half of the women in Australia and Canada rely on nitrous oxide to help alleviate the pain and anxiety associated with giving birth. Joining us to discuss its benefits are Dr. Debra Olson and Dr. Stephanie Voice from Moreland OB-GYN. The experts at Moreland OB-GYN have created resources to help women understand their options for pain relief during labor and delivery. I've had a gyno use this for a few paps. Having been sexually assaulted it made me have trust issues and my body would clamp up at exams and hurt when a speculum was put in.

I used this all the way through active labor (6 cm) into the breaks between pushing. It ended up being all I needed.

Unfortunately I think it's only effective at the beginning of labour.
