It really worked for me. Perhaps because it made my imagination and anxiety go wild.

For Christs sake somebody tell me if the house was haunted or was the boy in a coma. It’s like you’re not even sure if you’re allowed to dislike the movie considering you have to pretty much use your own imagination as to what’s it about. So if you thought the movie was lousy it’s kinda your fault lol. I think the face was a demon and it was making the parents abuse the kids and once it was done with the mom and dad it went to the kids until they were gone too….and the face was looking at us, asking us what our name is as if we are the new tenants of that house.

I think ambiguity can certainly be inserted for laziness' sake so ultimately this movie is what you make it, even though as a fan I concede that it's quite under-developed. I see it as a nightmare where the boy is slowly losing his mind dealing with the trauma from his dysfunctional parents and their absence. It would perhaps be too easy to just say the house is haunted and there's absolutely no subtext. But i think you're definitely onto something - maybe it's also about the cycle of abuse and then what we choose to do when we're confronted with it and can potentially break the cycle.

Idk why but for some reason the instant I saw it I was like waiting for the camera to pan to someone else's face or something 😂😂

The scariest part for me was that face at the end!

That is for sure a part that sticks with me. You have a whole movie of almost nothing happening and straining your eyes in cruddy grainy footage, questioning if you're starting to see things and then for that face to pop up is a real kicker!

I was much skinnier back then and that's not all from the bad aspect ratio. I just posted a review of Harmony's newest movie, Aggro Dr1ft earlier today if that interests you. Glad you liked this video and Gummo, thank you!

    Creepiest movie ever 😬

It's truly creepy in a way that people of my age range born between 1981-1986 (in my case 1990) would respond to in a way generations before mostly wouldn't. I grew up during a cusp period where analog technology eventually gave way to smartphones, and that aesthetic firmly holds a place in this movie's presentation. I also appreciate it because of how much restraint it has, especially since one of the scariest things imaginable is the unknown and the anticipation of horror. I also can't begrudge people who say it's boring..
