    Great review! Thank you for reviewing the LT1, i spent 3 years designing & developing this lantern with my team from the BLF forums, in conjunction with the engineers of Sorfin and their CEO Barry. After designing the LT1 and LT1-Mini, if time allows, the next-gen LT2 was in the works. sincerely, Den, -DBSAR-light

I spent a lot of work on this project with my team from BLF, A thanks also goes out to my fellow BLF team that helped me with this project, and a thanks to the Sofirn engineers & CEO who worked with me to make this LT1 a reality, to design & produce a lantern that the market really never had anything good in the lantern, emergency-lighting, camping field.

    Always go warm (candle, 2700 Kelvin). You don't want to feel like you're shopping at Walmart in your home, tent or campsite. I have the LT1. Blue white lights throw off colors too much. Can't use it working on a wiring harness/cable bundle for example. Buying the new LT1S soon, works on 1 21750? battery, 30 bucks cheaper, much lighter. Good vid.

    Concerning the run time, for the LE lamp the 12 hours you mentioned is for 3000 K light temperature AT FULL BRIGHTNESS.
    Never did you mention that by long pressing the button you can dim the lamp and achieve a far longer run time than 12 hours...
    Not very serious !

    Awesome video... has me undecided, not to mention I'm sure there may be better options considering this comparison was done 2 yrs ago. The one thing I do wish you had mentioned, would have been run time on max settings, including max run time using max battery options for the 2 lanterns that have replaceable batteries.

  • @woowoo8801
    @woowoo8801 2 года назад

    Any light with removable rechargeable batteries or Dual Power sources are the way to go if we are talking power outages because there is no way to tell how long they will be. So if you can have different power sources like most 18650 flashlights are with CR123 batteries. Or extra 18650 batteries charged and stored. So that tosses the Streamlight out the race right there and the LE. I do have a Sofirn Headlamp that's great but Fenix makes some excellent clear Flashlights. Either or because both have replaceable batteries would work in my opinion.

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  3 года назад +1

      @BOOSTEDLASER I've never never seen the LUMINTOP CL2 4X SST20 until today but it appears that the main difference is that the BLF LT1 runs on 18650s and the Lumintop on AAs / 14500s.. The BLF LTS has higher outputs, longer runtimes, variable color control. The Lumintop looks like a good alternative if you want something a little more compact and portable. Thanks for the comparison. Want to replace a Rayovac so no more d cells. Streamlight should be the clear winner but will become a paper weight when the battery fails. Same for the LE. Fenix looks like a dollar store item. So that leaves the BLF or a Siege X with only 300 lum. Probably why the BLF has the best feedback. Hey Nitecore want to build a legit lantern and show them how its done?

    i like the Streamlight Siege AA its small easy to carry in camping and its floats, i like the AA battery that i can carry a spare of Alkaline AA batteries during long days of camping no worries of recharging and easy to dispose. Easy to find AA size batt. I use AAA battery on my headlight and My Garmin GPS also use AA battery. I dont like not like the newer once that uses 18650 and 21700 batteries or the build in batt that needed to be charge thru folding solar panels or powerbank. I only use my powerbank back up for my device like phone and camera.. Its better to pack light in long camping trips. For home use i use rechargeable batt like eneloop to save money on batteries.

    You know what would be interesting. The Rayovac Sportsman 305 lumen lantern was the GOAT for LED camping lanterns for the better part of a decade. Given the fact you need 4x the lumens to see twice as bright rule, I wonder how it would compare to some of these modern lanterns. Certainly powered by 3 d cells you'd get serious run time for power outages on high with only 305 lumen on high which I kind of like. I'm thinking of getting one from Amazon, they are $29.89. If I don't like it might be a fun mod to put in an Andruil driver and modern LED on a large heat sink and run that on NIMH d cells.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 3 года назад

      I just looked at the specs, 305 lumen for 70 hours. That's likely ANSI FL1 or similar rating down to 10% brightness. Still with that long run time I'm guessing by the 25 hour mark your still getting 200 lumens or so.

      I found one of those Rayovacs in the woods some silly left behind...looking like a few months/some winter.
      I cleaned it up and I like it. ...being I was always a Coleman lantern guy. But RoV heavy/bulky, as far as some are now.
      I ended up getting the Olight mini, loving the size, usb charge, 'n decent run times...high I don't care to look at long. lol, the missus liked it too and had me get four to give out as gifts. (non-sale is 60.00)

      @@brianbartulis9709 Nice. I bought the Rayovac Sportsman 305 lumen lantern shortly after my comments and it has two major issues. It only stays on high on timer for 5 minutes and kicks down to low, If you turn it off and on it resets and you get 5 more minutes on high. When in low it has a lot of noticeable PWM flickering light. Not great for power outages for me. I ended up with a GE Enbrighten 400 lumen 4 D cell lantern and it's as bright as the he Rayovac Sportsman 305 lumen lantern only on medium and lasts many hours without kicking down. The light quality is flicker free in any mode and more warm/natural which I like for a lantern also. Not bad for $25. I have an Olight i3s flashlight and Olight RN800 bike light. Nice stuff they make.

      ~~ Olight ended up doing me ok after a fairly long delayed shipping.(lol, customs?)
      They sent me a freebie single triple A keychain light. ...lame as a chain light, but kinda bright.
