I like how he stops right before the verse to advertise merch. lol these guys are always playin small venues, but theyre soooo good, they need more attention. theyre every bit as technical as necrophagist, but in my opinion more creative. I saw them with shadows fall and it was AMAZING! These guys r one of my new favorite bands.
I have been in love with Arsis since the release of their first album waaaay back in the day. Not only are they amazing artists, they're hella nice. Remembered me and my buddies (considering we've been to see them every time they've played near us), went out to eat with them a few times. Amazing.
Great to see how far these guys have come since 2006, Arsis has aged so gracefully honestly. Saw em open up for Sepultura, headline the Bloodletting Tour with Internal Bleeding and now just recently with Enisferium. Seriously one of my favorite bands to see live and I always want more.
Yeah, exactly and the great thing about these musicians is that they can all play classical and jazz as well! Amazing versatile talent that everyone takes for granted. I too would play tech-death if I could make a living off of it, the drummer in this video left the band to go back to school and get a job in the medical field but it's people like Malone that keep it alive, they dedicate so much to this music and deserve more from it.
This video came out mere months after I had picked up guitar, it has been giving me inspiration for over 6 years (coming up on 7 soon) now. Arsis is amazing.
Definitely did not suck. This was back in 2006 when you could go see great bands at VFW halls for $10 or cheaper. They were on tour with The Faceless and All Shall Perish.
I was at this show and I think it was actually at a VFW. I was standing on the rhythm guitarists left side the whole time but you can’t see me behind taller dudes 🤣 but believe me it was incredible to see these bands in their early years 🤘🏻
most definitely agree. that sweep into the tapping section is absolutely beautiful and i wish it did appear on the album version. i'm glad someone else noticed this too.
friggin amazing!! it just unbelievable how technical they are. just amazing.... i do hope also play at bigger gigs someday-they REALLY deserve it. Arsis kicks....erm...well.. Arsis!! XD
Yeah, Arsis are one of the most underrated bands ever. Hopefully with press from stuff like the Malone Washburn signature guitar they will get bigger. Hopefully!
They have a new album coming out in December I believe with the original drummer Mike Van Dyne returning...James and Mike are the true foundation of the band..you're gonna enjoy it and forget that Ryan isn't even there anymore.
I can't believe and suprised he already went gray in 2018, his live then compared to this one is a vast vast difference. I love his music unconditionally ; just damn.
one of the best guitar players today. to play those riffs and sing at the same time....godly. even though on their latest album they were a little to much on the tech. still my favorite band.
@elmetalico99 The guy singing is the founding and original member, drummer Mike Van Dyne is also a founding member, he's back in the band after a break now. The guitarist here is Ryan Knight, he was playing only on We Are The Nightmare, now playing in Black Dahlia Murder. James lost a lot of weight, he's an anorectic. He recorded the first 2 albums alone with drummer Mike, Ryan then joined on one album, then he found Nick Cordle. Not sure who the bassist here is though.. Hope it helps!
yea definitely. its very difficult to make a living off music these days though, especially in metal. i just play in a band for fun. theres no better feeling than being on stage watching a crowd heabang and mosh to music that you created.
awesome preformance man, wicked guitar playing. great to see a band that can pull off the stuff live to perfection. keep it up man, you guys deserve so uch more
i saw arsis play in Rochester at the Penny Arcade they were amazing i even had a short conversation with James Malone after. GoatWhore also played, so good. by far best show of my life so far but hopefully i can git my hands on tickets to the up coming opeth and dream theater show in Albany.
yea that show at the masq was brutal. cattle was by far the best show there... omg did you see the dude that was hardcore dancing and got faceplanted? that was epic.
@caliguy90001 I put a emg 81 in the bridge and a 85 at the neck, my buddy put the new Mick thompson ,empty signiture pick up in his rg and it sounds amazing so i just orderd one for the bridge ,it just sounds more balanced and louder...
James's red/purple strat body is becoming so iconic, like Trey Azagthoth's red explorer body. This band has already achieved metal saint-hood. Let's hope they're next album or EP is better than "United." Long live Arsis.
Wild seeing a video of Arsis 17 years ago damn.
wild seeing a comment made a day ago on an arsis video from 17 years ago damn
god i miss these kinds of shows

Great to see how far these guys have come since 2006, Arsis has aged so gracefully honestly.

Seriously one of my favorite bands to see live and I always want more.
Indeed it is a treat to have them around. We had the privilege of opening up for the bloodletting tour in our city. This song had everyone going nuts!
Best video I've seen of Arsis. Love how they stop and talk about merch, then start back up again, awesome.
haha thats josh ... i remember this show i'm the kid sitting directly behind the drummer
Totally wasn't expecting them to just stop playing in the beginning.
James is good live.

These guys are just toooooooo ahead of time . living in future
That guy air drumming is an awesome spectacular amazing dude
Damn, it sucks these guys had to play in a high school gym. They are way too talented for that.
Definitely did not suck. This was back in 2006 when you could go see great bands at VFW halls for $10 or cheaper. They were on tour with The Faceless and All Shall Perish.
May have been a middle school.
I was at this show and I think it was actually at a VFW. I was standing on the rhythm guitarists left side the whole time but you can’t see me behind taller dudes 🤣 but believe me it was incredible to see these bands in their early years 🤘🏻
seen them last night at the muse in nashville.
it was pretty awesome.
This gives me old school RG G.A.S.
Damn Ryan Knight is so dang young. I remember opening up for these guys in 2006 at the Irock in Detroit with Decapitated. Amazing.
singing, shredding sliding, tapping and definitely brutal.
cant ask for more.
I'm going to see them in Quebec City next week and I can't wait!!
most definitely agree. that sweep into the tapping section is absolutely beautiful and i wish it did appear on the album version. i'm glad someone else noticed this too.
Amazing performance!!
holy shit this band is awesome
just foun out about them tonight
I saw arsis & suicide silence in Lancaster CA in 2006 at a hospital turned library turned music venue
one of the best Progressive technical death metal bands!
Still groovy as hell and still tech as hell. We Are The Nightmare is amazing.
love the pink guitar =D
Arsis rock!!

Thats one of my favorite bands! I just discovered these guys and they're fucking sick.
I can’t believe I just found out about them. This song is too good
one of the best of all time
friggin amazing!!
it just unbelievable how technical they are.
just amazing....
i do hope also play at bigger gigs someday-they REALLY deserve it.
Arsis kicks....erm...well.. Arsis!! XD
This is the video that made me a good guitar player.
Yeah, Arsis are one of the most underrated bands ever. Hopefully with press from stuff like the Malone Washburn signature guitar they will get bigger. Hopefully!
Carefully.
James is a BEAST!
They have a new album coming out in December I believe with the original drummer Mike Van Dyne returning...James and Mike are the true foundation of the band..you're gonna enjoy it and forget that Ryan isn't even there anymore.

the crowd was rather quiet. Gonna see ARSIS LIVE TODAY !!!
That first record was such a banger
its so awsome that they are on a little place qhere people can get to know them but they diserve on the iggest stages in metal y'know?
2022 still kills
i am yet to hear a bad arsis song
I can't believe and suprised he already went gray in 2018, his live then compared to this one is a vast vast difference. I love his music unconditionally ; just damn.
I didn't know these guys performed in people's garages
Opened for them in Houston, TX at Java Jazz. Had no idea what I was getting into.
Every band started in someone's garage
amazing!
thats what happens when you have the chance to stand behind a great drummer and your a drummer.
i do it all the time and i have a life and a drum set.
this song is da ballz
great drummer!
Holy fuck is james wearing an all shall perish shirt?
God I just fell in love with this band even more.
The frontman gives intermediate to advanced guitar lessons on Jamplay.com. He is a real great teacher!
Their bass player is huge!!!!!!!!!!
and you are sooo much cooler than everyone else
incredible
one of the best guitar players today. to play those riffs and sing at the same time....godly. even though on their latest album they were a little to much on the tech. still my favorite band.

i saw arsis play in Rochester at the Penny Arcade they were amazing i even had a short conversation with James Malone after. GoatWhore also played, so good. by far best show of my life so far but hopefully i can git my hands on tickets to the up coming opeth and dream theater show in Albany.

this guys
its a damn shame that a band with this much talent dosnt even get a stage...still a great performance though.
this guys kick ass
The dude in the sweater just nodding his head like someone's father at a 50 Cent gig (that looks like Gideon Yago) is awesome.
these guys are freakin great players.. they need better shows than this :)
Awesome man, very impressive!
@Viperplayer187 Amen to this. My first show was Decrepit Birth and the vocalist almost stage dived onto me, and we moshed afterwards
Redic. . . Can't believe they are playing in such a small place!
Crazy how long she I left a comment on this video
Arsis fucking rules. The other vids of them have them with similar crowds. I would kill to see them like that
Sick!!
great great band...if you unite carcass, at the gares, death and morbid angel...you have ARSIS!!!!
@caliguy90001 I put a emg 81 in the bridge and a 85 at the neck, my buddy put the new Mick thompson ,empty signiture pick up in his rg and it sounds amazing so i just orderd one for the bridge ,it just sounds more balanced and louder...
these guys are sick
I didn't know their vocalist played guitar too! :D
man, i miss my ibanez RG550. I had a green version of what James is playing.
@caliguy90001 I have the ruby red ...very very thin necks ... awesome!!!
He's alot skinnier now lol saw them for first time on the Arch Enemy tour and I liked them alot :D
James's red/purple strat body is becoming so iconic, like Trey Azagthoth's red explorer body.
This band has already achieved metal saint-hood. Let's hope they're next album or EP is better than "United." Long live Arsis.

*super soft spoken* alright guys thanks for coming out tonight.... *death metal screaming* James Malone is the man.
good shit~!
@GJRM18 I'm not 100% sure, but I think James is using a Ibanez RG550, with the pickups changed to EMGs. Not really sure about Ryan though...
man i still wish ryan knight played in arsis.
