For some reason, 8 of 10 times my body does not tell me its hungry. I get all the signs - headaches, weakness, etc but my stomach just doesn't tell my brain to tell me I should eat something. It's really frustrating since I'm so in tune with my body otherwise. I really appreciate your video and it's tone. A lot of "not eating enough" videos are aimed at anorexia or bulimia and leaves people like myself out. I'm really glad you mentioned hair loss as I've been shedding a lot more recently so I'll definitely try eating more to see if my hair swirls in the shower get less dense.

Exact same problems here.ill get blood sugar problems though like for example sudden bouts of feeling exhausted out of nowhere. Have also gotten the nausea in the past.
I may be crazy but I find the last half of the menstrual cycle (luteal phase) is where everything is the most problematic.

I hear you on the anorexia thing. My reason for not eating much is being on several medications that have to be taken on an empty stomach, and when I was young I had a fear of vomiting which means I skipped meals a lot. It's almost the reverse of bulimia when you think about it.

I don't know if this was mentioned or I missed it, but stomach pains. I get cramps if I don't eat enough. Like yesterday I was feeling a little ill with diarrhea so naturally I decided to give my stomach a rest and fast most of the day with only a small meal before bed. Today I haven't eaten much either, and I'm getting those crampy feelings deep in the lower gut. I had 2 movements yesterday (on top of the diarrhea) so it's probably not constipation. Haven't passed a lot of gas and don't feel bloated per se. Just crampy. The funny thing is we're told if you have stomach pains, give your stomach a rest, when in fact the cause of the pain is not eating enough.

You can lose weight drasticly without haveing anorexia, it is a very specific mental condition, but the end result is the same. Healthy weight gain is needed. Pairing high carb and healthy fats help, especialy if one struggles to eat larger portions. Nutbutters are a great way to get more calories in while still offering a lot of healthy micronutriens. Sweetpotatos and plantains are realy good sources of carbs that also offer a lot b vitamins.
I do a lot better eating many small portions than eating 3 big ones.
While vegies are absolutly healthy and needed, they can fool you into thinking you ate a lot more, than you actualy did.
If you have any questiones, I am happy to help ^^

@@SingingSealRiana I agree. I don’t have anorexia but have lost weight due to stress. My appetite isn’t the same as it once was and I’m struggling to gain weight and keep it on. My hair is also thinning alot, don’t know whether that has to do with not eating enough?
You kindly mentioned pairing high carbs with healthy fats, can you give examples please?
And how do you include nut butters in your meals? 😊

Good luck with that! Many people eat mostly out of habit instead of hunger, it is a problem both with loseing weight, for you feel hungry eating less even if you got everything you need, but it also realy messed with you, if you have a tendency to undereat. If I lose my rythem of eating do to not going to work, I simply forget to eat and that is realy unhealthy . . .
Make yourself a scedual, plan before hand and stick to that. You are more likely to actualy eat, if you already know what and have parts of it prepped, instead of haveing to co e up with so thing and then just feel like it is not worth the effort

I think I have many of these symptoms :( Irritable, fatigue, dizziness... My main meal of the day is usually lunch. At around 11:30 or 12, I'm ready for a really good meal to keep me through the day. At night, I feel if I eat heavy or a big meal, it wrecks havoc on my digestive system so I like light meals. As for morning, that's my biggest issue. I can't eat breakfast. I literally feel so sick just looking at food. If I force myself, I stay for like 1 or 2 hours feeling so full and icky. I prefer a smoothie (even that feels heavy), or something really small like a banana or apple or dates. I definitely need to fix my diet.

My parents use a word for when I get angry then realize I haven't eaten: hangry. We all need calories and my parents are told by doctors to avoid carbs. I have been vegan for a decade and had researched how to get nutrition lost by doing that early on. There should be at least three diet styles throughout your life, one for early brain development. Along with that, one should eat to build resistance to food allergies later in life. Eat to form your early psyche and physique. Later, eat to calm your hormonal effects on your body along with a diet of activity on your mind. Even later ones diet should be focused on aid the body fuctions as the body has a harder time doing all that they tend to. Other diets (food choises/meal plans) can be used throughout also. Those three may help comfort in life. Personal opinions are the worst thing to add to a diet

Obviously food is fuel but it is also more than just fuel...I know that you understand that it is about nutrition and not just calories but diet culture has made it so most people think of food mostly in terms of calories and not nutrition. I heard someone say food is more than just calories it is 'Information '. The nutrients 'inform' the body like instructions....eat high refined carbs...that 'instructs the body what to do...pump out insulin....eat a bitter leafy green like dandelion and it instructs the body to release toxins through bile....and on and on. Every food we eat is either giving helpful, life giving 'instructions ' or it's giving instructions that are at best a stress on the body. I think more people need to think of food more in terms of what 'instructions' or messages are they giving their body. It was a very helpful perspective shift for me.

Hey, I don't know if you still reply to the comments but in case you do (or anyone else who happens to know more than me in the topic) I have been having problems to know if I am eating enough. Recently doing I research paper I found out that I have been eating like 500+ calories less than what I supposedly should be eating in a day as a teenager. I do have some of the symptoms you mentioned, but the thing is I can also explain those symptoms with other factors of my life and non of them (the symptoms) seem to be really that serious, I would even consider myself to be very healthy (I rarely get sick, even when my siblings do; I would say my hair, nails, and skin look pretty healthy, I excercise regurarly and even my BMI, even if it isn't the best thing to measure how healthy you are, is alright. I'm not overweight but I am not closer to been underweighted neither). The thing is I am a really short person and I have never had that big of an apetite, still reading and listening to all this sites and persons, even other petite woman, saying that what I ususally eat in a day is not enough got me a bit worried.
I don't know if I should increase my calorie intake? What if I do and start gaining too much weight? What if I ruin my metabolism instead of making it better? I really don't know, and I haven't visited a doctor in years so I have absolutely no idea what to do.

Hello, don’t take others comments to heart.
I think if you are feeling okay and your body hasn’t given you any signs then I don’t see why you can’t continue eating the way you do. As long as you are eating healthy & a variety of food groups in your meals (protein, carbs, fruit/veg & healthy fats.)
If your hair, skin and nails are in good condition I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. I’ve had a lot of hair thinning the past few years, I can’t figure out the reason.
You said you have some of the symptoms mentioned in the video. Can you explain?
If you are still concerned though, that you may be eating less, you could just add a healthy snack or two in your day. Another option is see your doctor and ask for some general advice or get some blood tests done to check you’re not deficient in anything. This will give you peace of mind.
      Hope this helps. ☺️

@@_s.4 Hello ♡ and thank you for answering.
About the symptoms that I do experience that the video mentioned are: Not feeling hunger even after spending hours without eating, cravings, mood swings and low energy. But like I said I can easily explain any of those symptoms with other aspects of my life (let's say that I'm not as healthy emotionally/mentally as I want to believe that I am physically 💀). So I don't really know.
I think I will follow your advice abd try to go to a doctor and get a blood test. Just to be sure.
Hope you find the reason and how to treat you hair thinning ♡ (have you considered if it might be because of stress?)

Sometimes i eat a big meal, and sometimes i wont feel hungry all day or several days. I try to force myself to eat something but it makes me feel sick trying to swallow when I have no appetite. [It also makes me sad because I really like lot's of foods but these days I don't feel like I enjoy even my most favorite snacks.] I work a lot and don't usually have time for lunch or breakfast in the first place, so I think it has something to do with it, but I'm not sure.

The thing is our bodies/appetite get used to certain eating schedules.
Carrying a banana or a healthy snack bar or a smoothie with you to have for breakfast on the go is a start and is better than nothing.
For lunch a healthy and balanced sandwich is a good option.
We are creatures of habit, so it’ll take time and effort from us to create a better eating schedule etc.
      Good luck! 🙂

After my mother being diagnosed with some health issues I’ve been reevaluating my diet. Because I’m over weight I always thought I over eat I mean I’ve been told since I was 10 I needed to loose weight. Instead I’ve realized I’m eating insanely small amounts of food during the day, this means by dinner time my body is so desperate for something I crave salt sugar and terrible foods which means I drink large amounts of fizzy drink/energy drink huge dinners. I binge on high sugar foods because my poor body needs something. I honestly didn’t realize I was doing this🤦🏼‍♀️

You mentioned that an issue with thyroid function can result in hair loss, I would like to hear your wisdom in regards to what high levels of TgAb with normal TSH, T3 & T4 indicate? Can this be a cause of hair loss/thinning?? Can you explain and suggest some advice please?

    Maybe even the soft water.
Like half my hair is lifeless and I shed so much. I’ll keep an eye on my protein though.
I love to get some Dr. Teals body oil and taking a long bath soak, no jets, and lots of epsom salt and then I’ll light up some sage insense.
When you spoke about enjoy eating something, I felt attacked, lol! I’ve been on meal prep since August and when I enjoy something I feel like I need to go to the gym and burn those 380-560 calories similar to a punishment. I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but it helps keep me focused after I just lost 40 pounds. These are some good hints though, you are like the first who didn’t mention shop therapy. I’m so guilty but also I need to stop and realize my husband has got everything under control right now and all I have is our phone bills.

Is your hair condition still the same and what’s your hair routine like?
Have you had bloods done to check for any deficiencies relating to hair loss?
I shed so much too! It’s been years and my hair is thinning out alot and i fear becoming bald or should I be realistic and say more scalp 😔
Soft water is actually gentle on the hair, it’s hard water (I’m dealing with) that’s a problem!

And this is one of the videos I skipped over
It’s one of those things where people
Can be a little prideful with her eating habits and say I don’t need help with that or I’m doing fine
I was fasting and a lot of the times it was until two in the afternoon
Fasting until noon seems pretty normal for me but I was pushing it sometimes until four in the afternoon
I don’t think I was losing any weight
And I began to be irritable and feel drained no energy and basically super Duper irritable and I have children so that’s not good
As soon as I would eat I would feel fine
I was hungry and I didn’t even realize it
That is one scary thing about RUclips is we can watch 1 billion things and try them and then mess up our own health.
    This is a good video
At nine in the morning I’m watching it and just made myself some Chia pudding with cashew milk banana blueberries and a little touch of maple syrup along with my tea of course
    Thank you! I needed this.
It’s also difficult with food sensitivities me and my daughter are going through a time trying to manage our chronic illnesses or should I say cure them even. and there’s not much left to eat. Ugg its hard. Especially for a child.

Food has taken on a unhealthy mental myths.
I realize my relationship with food isn't correct.
Food is a source of nutrients, energy, and vitamins. But I don't know the specific types of food to eat, the proper balance, and to remove the misconception of “bad” vs. “Good” foods.
I strongly to be intentional and aware of what is happening to my body when I eat. I experience fluctuations of eating habits. My body is starving even when I think I'm eating.
I need to explore more about substance rather than over compensating with sugary treats. I am definitely hungry more than usually, but I'm not eating enriched foods to fill me up.

I have also been suffering with heavy hair shedding on and off for the past couple of years and I didn't realize this could be causing it. It is realy importent to track your (micro)nutrients when on an elimination diet. Before you probably balance your intake intuitivly and by accidant, but in cutting out all the foods you would usualy use to do so, you can undereat on certain things very fast. I would also advise vegans to do so, at least at the beginning for it is totaly possible to get what you need from plants, but it needs a more concious aproach to do so. And well, if your food is not suplimented with b 12, you need to take it yourself. But Protein, zinc and iron all are managable if you know a few tricks.

    • @_s.4
      @_s.4 2 года назад

      That’s true, it’s so important.

You eat the "wrong" things. You can overeat in calories at the same time you are to low on protein, fat or micronutriens. Eating very fast absorbing carbs can make you hungry again very fast for they let your bloodsugar spike up and fall fast again what makes your body crave more very soon, even if the calorie intake was just right.
Use an app to track for a few weeks, what you eat. It is importend, that the app stracks micronutrience like vitamins and minerals too. Use it to control if you get everything you need. Are you low in b vitamins, or zinc, try to get more of those! Cronometer, the app I use showes you where you got for example zinc from and you than know where you can get it from and eat more of those foods.
Try to avoid bloodsugar spikes and drops by eating more complex carbs, eating them togeather with fiber and protein to better fill you up for longer. Beans, sweetpotatos and plantains have a lot more to offer, than eating mostly white flour products like pasta and bread, or white rice.
Smoothie and pureed soup can be problematic to, for your body might not register that as food intake, pureed fruit also leads to sugar spikes in contrast to whole fruits where the sugar is bound to fiber and other components of the fruit. Liquid doof should always be paired with something you actualy chew.
An undiscovered foodsensetivity can make you gain weight too. It prevents the absorbtion of micronutrience and might mess up your hormones so you get way hungrier than you should be. A thyroid issue can also cause weight gaine while technicaly undereating and cause sympthomslike hairloss and moodswings as well.
If you gave more info on what you eat and which sympthoms you experience I could be more specific, but that should have given you an idea of what could have been going on
