But I was becoming incensed by your persistent call to not idolized Donald Trump. I thought to myself that between the two major political parties and their presidential candidates, Trump more closely aligns with our judeochristian ideals. This is a new comment. I just watched a woman who prayed at the RNC convention a week ago Monday. It was a prayer to her Sikh god, which she proclaimed, “The one true god”. The troubling thing was most of the people with heads bowed and eyes closed were most likely Christian. This is disturbing. She didn’t declare her god until at the very end, and she also prayed in a foreign tongue. So I felt bad for those that bowed their head. Honestly it reminded me of Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego. And it brought to mind what you, Dr. Brown, quoted from a colleague about the prison yard. I think you are not used to a society where people hold different views on God but can still agree on some things. In a multicultural society, it is not wrong to respect other people's views. Part of that respect is to allow them to express those views and religious practices. Like you, I think Jesus is the one and only true God but I also realise that I live in a society where not everyone agrees with that position. Where we can and should draw the line is when we are forced to affirm views that we do not believe in or if we are stripped of the same right of freedom of religion. I do not think that the prayer you referred to can be described as forcing a person to affirm a faith. You can simply be quiet and allow this person to express his/her views. You don't have to say amen and you don't have to applaud. Remember that the RNC is not a Christian organisation.

I think this is a very realistic view of DJT. I love the man, however he causes me to cringe at some of what he says. I finally came to the conclusion that he is a man who loves our country, has respect for Judeo Christian values, but isn't a devoted follower of Christ. This is the problem I see with the conservative movement. We always turn every issue or idea about actions regarding issues into binary positions. There are other ways to accomplish goals and normally there are a number of routes to accomplish a goal. I will give an example, in 2016 Trump presented himself as a very pro 2nd Amendment candidate. Then after the Las Vegas shooting he signed an Executive Order banning bump stocks. I saw many, many, 2nd Amendment advocates screaming and melting down about how Trump was a phony, he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, on, & on, & on. I knew immediately that the EO was unconstitutional so I stepped back and waited for the movie to run its course. There was no reasoning with my friends in the 2A community. As I had predicted the challenges to the EO and the ATF rules & regulations regarding bump stocks wound their way through the courts and were eventually struck down as unconstitutional. The way the courts ruled also makes it highly questionable that any “attachments” integral to the operation of the firearm can be banned. So the end result was very positive case law. After some time had passed and information was released I came to understand that because of all the public outcry over Las Vegas Congress was actually considering legislation regarding bump stocks and there were supporters on both side of the aisle. Now that we have a clearer picture it seems that Trumps actions were done to make an end run around the legislation and put something out there that would almost 100% be eventually struck down. I think we are doing a similar thing with the Constitutional ban on Abortion, presenting it so that if you are not 100% in support of it you are not pro life. That isn’t necessarily the case, the CB on abortion will do nothing but give the leftist demons an inflammatory issue with which to further split the people and throw gasoline on them. It will just inflame the election and could quite possibly cause a GOP defeat in capturing a majority in Congress. The way to stop abortion isn’t with a constitutional amendment because the constitution already prohibits abortion, we just need judges in place that will interpret the constitution correctly as it was written. The constitution already provides protection for “life” and now that medical technologies and knowledge has progressed to a point where we can prove the existence of life early in the process, we just need the court cases that are based on the correct evidence and legal & societal arguments so the rulings can come forth. Fighting the wrong battle is futile and often times does more harm than good, and playing the long game when the opposition doesn’t even know you’re playing is the most advantageous course of action. Biden distanced himself from the “open borders” groups in 2020 yet as soon as he was sworn in, he signed 93EO’s to open the borders, had he not distanced himself he would have undoubtedly lost. Trump distancing himself isn’t an issue for me as I can reference his first term to know how he will govern and this time he isn’t surrounded by RINOS and he doesn’t have to consider reelection.
