Western society prides itself on its productivity. Much of that is driven by stimulants; the most ubiquitous and copiously consumed of these stimulants is the caffeine in coffee. So, in a way, the West has Ethiopia to thank for its prodigious output. Most of us can't stay awake without coffee. It maybe a sad testament to the way we live in the West, but it is what it is. So thank you Ethiopia for gifting us with the very substance that keeps us awake and driven!

Tomoca was so nice of a cafe. Been to several coffee ceremonies and they are just as delightful each time. For me its more about the ceremony itself though, as I couldnt drink that type of coffee every day. But indeed in specialty coffee shops around the world, Ethiopian coffee is probably my favourite.

Used to love roasting my own coffee. Fresh roasted coffee is unbeatable. Bad heart now, so no more caffeine. Getting old sucks.

2:46 "the whole process takes a few hours to complete" is it just to serve coffee or complete everything for celebration? I want to know how long do they boil the ground coffee... This video is very informative, thank you.

Ardent fan of Ethiopian coffee. Whats the story with the popcorn? lol

lots more the the story!!?!! Popcorn originated in the Americas; probably Mexico. It predates history, the Mayas enjoyed it. My search showed South Africa growing seeds for popcorn in 1966!? Woudn't be surprized if has been a crop for many more years. Inexpensive snack with an amazing smell. Never thought of pairing it with coffee, but ...! Also serve peanuts with coffee. Roasted peanuts also smell amazing. They may also serve 'Himbasha' a (slightly sweet) bread, may have raisins, candied orange or cardamum.

3:00 no man roast has nothing to do with the dilution.. from what I see in the video its always light roast and that's mostly the roast for Ethiopian coffee.

Ethiopia is in the estern area on the continent of Africa, in the "Horn of Africa' Region. It is roughly south-east of Egypt & south-west of Saudi Arabia. It used to be called "Abyssinia". It is the source of the Blue Nile (one of 3 rivers that flow to The Nile.

What's the traditional roast for it and approximate boiling time? I will try to get it, most single origin coffee's common here in Lebanon are Brazilian and Turkish so it will be a big challenge to find one...
