Khmer Krom leader Thach Setha gets a death threat
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) - Khmer Krom leader Thach Setha claimed today that he was given a death threat by an unidentified man who spoke Vietnamese.
Thach Setha, president of Khmer Kampuchea Krom Association, said Wednesday that the unidentified person telephoned him at around 9:00 a.m today, threatening to kill him.
He said the suspect speaking Vietnamese said to him "You, protest leader, has to be careful. You have to stop protest in front of the Vietnamese Embassy, Vietnam has helped Cambodia a lot."
But Setha said the threat has posed no concern for him, saying that he would continue the protest.
He warned that Vietnam shall be held responsible if something happens to him.
Khmer Krom monks, youths and activists have staged protest against the Vietnamese government for five days. Starting from 4 October.
The angry protesters trampled on and set the Vietnamese flags on fire during the protests to demand the Vietnamese government to recognize that Kampuchea Krom, now in Southern part of Vietnam, was Cambodia's former territory.
