Hi everyone! Gui and I have been really busy lately and it has been hard to create new content so this is a reupload of an older video we posted when we barely had any subscribers. I like the tips in this video so I want our new viewers to learn from it. Hope you guys have a great week 👊🏻
I watch a lot of tennis videos from You tubers. It engages the audience more if you talk on the tennis court instead of your couch
I’m a 6th grader that plays w high school and college kids and although I’m able to usually return their hard fast shots I struggle a lot and it’s difficult since they’re so much bigger. This helped me a lot to improve that thank you so much.
HAHAHAHA Karue - that intro... Priceless.
Hahah thank you!
@@MyTennisHQ I was expecting the classic non-tennis player response “I could totally return that”... tennis is
easy
I think we should also be aware that it's important to stay relaxed as well. Do not let a fast ball completely disrupt your technique, breathing etc.
Definitely
sorry for being really late, but thanks alot! im trying out for highschool tennis and really want to make the top 4 in jv1 varsity if possible, but i seen the no.1 varsity boy, he has really good net skills and shots and a good serve, and even like 2 girls can hit powerful where they can winner against me, ill try to relax when playing against those type of people, otherwise ill really get stressed and get tight and stuff and hit bad shots where they can easily end the point
"Don't let the fast ball bully you".... I can't wait to be on the court and try this out! Thank you as always.
Nice subject! I would like very much heard you talking about kick serve and return of service.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for your videos, they’re super helpful 🎾
Thanks for the great tips! Gonna try them on court soon👍
Why are you reminding me of Andy Roddick on TC with the mustache lmao. Great video as always
Really glad I came across this - I feel like a relatively strong player, but the one thing I struggle with in terms of reaching that next level is handling the higher tempo and pace of stronger players.
Happy we could help
Gsd puppy, awesome!
Great video! I wanted to know if you can do a video on recognizing wide balls and moving side to side while still maintaining your balance and not getting pulled off the court. I am 5’9 and often struggle with regaining my neutral position once pulled off to one side. Thanks!
Love Love Love this vdo, thank you so much for sharing good tips
definitely you are the best coach when I saw
Awesome tips!
This is a great video on mechanics of how to handle big shots coming at you. It's alot harder if you have 1-handed backhand. Nice video, not bad for a bruin
Thank you! Definitely different for one handers. Hahah go Bruins
Great advice.
great tips, the dog was the highlight haha
Best channel
Thank you!
Great tips much needed! I was wondering if you guys could share leg workouts or general workouts using weights that are recommended to especially improve fitness for tennis and get stronger base for tennis, perhaps home workouts that you guys do since maybe commercial gyms aren’t available? Cuz i definitely know that I need to do them to get stronger base haha but not really sure if the general barbell backsquat would transfer well or maybe a single leg exercise would be better and more athletic. Please share them awesome knowledge (maybe a content suggestion for the future) hehe :D thanks!!
Awesome! Happy the video helped you
thanks for the tip, love your dog :-)
Hey Karue- Awesome tips as always! Always great to hear the experience and thought process of a pro level player. As for content I'd like to see, I'm curious on the technique, footwork, and mindset on wide-balls, as in groundstrokes that you have to hit stretched out wide or on the 'dead-run'. Personally, on the forehand side, I have trouble getting depth even though I try to aim higher over the net, and the ball ends up too spinny. Again, thanks!
Will definitely work on that. Don’t aim higher, just try to make the arc of the ball longer. Think about a long curve instead of an up and down curve
My Tennis HQ good words Karue
Great video! My problem is that I am having trouble with gauging the ball which makes it hard to recognize the direction and depth of the ball. Will just playing more solve this issue?
Karue, what are your unstrung racquet specs and what racquet do you use for competition? pro stock? Nice video tips 👍.
Adorable pup!
One of the best tip 👌 👏
Thank you!
you are amazing! greetings from turkey
Thank you!
Great video
Thank you!
How to return fast ball that goes into your forehand side that you need to run a couple steps to? I often lose balance when trying to return ball that is slightly to my forehand side that is 1-2 steps away
Wow, thank you so much for the useful video!!
I was too helpful.
You are welcome!
Plays and foot work! Next!
Great video...can you comment on grip sizes...ive been playing with a grip size of 4 1/2 which feels good but realized that I can't get good wrist snap on serves like I can with a smaller grips size...and advice on where that sweet spot should be?
Try 4 3/8
fast balls don't always have a lot of 'weight' to them; a ball with topspin (like Nadal's) has much more weight than just a straight fast ball. I agree with being 'strong' but the returner has to have a set base, short return swing, using the ball's pace but having loose shoulders and arms (but a strong grip) - not 'choking' the racket and follow through in line with where you want the shot to go. The purpose of this shot is to get it back as deep as you can so you can get a setup shot to continue the point - not put it away on the return. Good information. JS
Just another tip. While hitting a fast ball you need to prepare early as you said and also you need to hold the ball in your strings for a fraction of a second to reduce the pace and also getting a good control over the ball. Then after mastering this art you hit back the ball at the same pace you received it.
What's that racquet you re using , the colors in the lights look really flashy ,
Great advice..can we shorten our backswing as well or do you recommend trying to hit a normal backswing after the quick shoulder turn?
You can shorten. Whatever helps you make good contact in front of your body. Experiment
@@MyTennisHQ Thanks. I've seen so many instructional tennis videos on youtube, and this is by far the best one!
My problem is often getting out of the way of a fast ball that's coming right at me, especially to the BH; with a one handed BH, I need more space.
Do something on the compact forehand. Like how to fix a backswing that is too big and is crossing the plane of the body.
Noted
1:56 actually, you shoud be loose and not tight while taking a punch
When returning a fast deep ball, should I tighten my grip a little bit? I’m asking for both forehands and backhands (I have a one-handed backhand).
I’m asking this because you mentioned the importance of being strong and not too loose.
For myself, if I’m returning a neutral or short/slow ball, I like to keep my forehand grip nice and loose so that I can rip it and on my backhand, i use a medium tightness on my grip.
Personally, I think so. Don't think tighten up, but more of a strong squeeze through contact! Do what works best for you. I just don't think staying too loose is the way to go
@@MyTennisHQ thank you for the quick response! How can I sign up to be a hitting partner for Naomi Osaka? Lol
Are you using the Diadem Elevate Tour racquet? I'm pretty sure, but just wanted to confirm because I use the Elevate FS and Nova FS
I did a while back
Have you ever experienced a practice with Naomi or some other top pro when you were tired and you just see the balls late? When I'm tired and I play with fast and flat hitting players it's so difficult for me even tho we play on red clay here in Germany. It's still so fast for me then and I feel like I am just reacting. :D Do you manage to still play properly despite you're tired because you have so much experience as a hitting partner?
Bro, I've got my first tennis torument tommorow
🇧🇷
ójala hubiera visto esto antes de mi partido ayer...
What if the oponent is running to the net, recognising that he hit a hard ball and I might return weakly.
My question is - does my strategy where to place the return change? Do I try to place deep at baseline in the middle or shoot another type of shot?
If you feel you can make a passing shot do it. Otherwise, it depends on the player. If I have no control I just lob it high and deep as possible to give myself time. If I can, I hit a heavy ball to their backhand side. Most players struggle with that high backhand volley and your return doesn’t need to be hard
@@chrain2.080 Thank you for your advice! I liked it :)
good tips, but can you make a video on how to hit a HEAVY ball vs a FAST ball? people always tell me that I hit a powerful fast ball, but that it's not really "heavy" (whatever that means).
Forget what people tell you and just hit your shot! 😉
@@MyTennisHQ thanks for the advice, but I still would like to learn how to hit different shots and add variety to my forehand. I don't want to always hit fastballs
@@Avenjin heavy ball= deep almost at the baseline with lots of spin and 2m above the net should do it.
That intro lol
Supra 👀, get a tessie
Second
Sweet left handed coach 🐕😂
shoulders and hips turn first.
you ever trained with federer
No, only Djokovic
@@MyTennisHQ oh bc you re two hander???
Actually, when you stiffen up when you get “punched” or in a car accident impact etc, it does far more damage than when you go limp. Perhaps wrong analogy there. Then again, I’m no doctor- I just play one on tv.
Great advice, Karue, however it appears your pooch isn't quite ready to handle fast balls. Maybe a slow Kong toy?
:)
No one says first
Wrong analogy for hard shot at you and punch.. you have to roll with a punch....If stay tight on it and you are knocked out. Here is the difference between boxing and tennis... If you screw up in tennis it is fifteen Love... If you screw up in boxing, it's your ass darling..
