Just as a single candle can ignite a room, may your presence ignite the hearts of others, spreading the warmth and light of blessings in every interaction you have on this Thursday. Good morning. Have a Beautiful and Blessed day and weekend. See you next video. Stay safe and healthy. God Bless.
I inherited a lot of crystal from my grandmother a number of years ago. I use it all the time. Even when we barbecue burgers. I love it so much. It’s so beautiful and it reminds me of my grandma.
So many do-it-yourself type videos don't tell you how things hold up in the years ahead. That is very important to me. Thank you for being upfront and honest and sharing that information with us!
I bought a new home last year, and as it was being renovated, i had smart light switches and outlets put in, smart drapery tracks, a smart thermostat, smart security system, even a smart washer and dryer. I am now able to control everything by both voice command and iPhone. My intention was to live alone, but I now have two roommates- Siri and Alexa!
About 10 years ago, we were contemplating what tile to use in our kitchen. I was looking at the small glass tiles. An architect friend told me they would be out of style and our home would look dated. I chose an off white, creamy subway tile. I still love it.
I think as a designer it is great that you are able to do so much handiwork and can show it to us on this video. It adds to your professional credibility.
I always believe in using what you like ,if it makes you happy ,do it ! Everyone has a different personality and it will be reflected in your home .You have a great personality and it radiates on your face and when you express yourself .Love your enthusiasm !
I don't have your carpentry skills but I agree with everything you've said and actually do most of these things. I had a painter I hired tell me that I wanted "everything perfect" because I complained about his painting. It was because the old paint color showed through the new paint color and his reply was "it's not that bad, it's good enough". Apparently that was his motto. He packed up like a thief in the night without saying a word and I ended up painting my entire house which, looks very good. It took me longer, and I used more paint, but it looks good. Details are EVERYTHING. I try to do what I can without it looking like a do it yourself job. I wish I could do more. And I am currently in the process of buying old oil paintings. Excellent video.
Nice video. We went to open houses yesterday and several had intense fragrances from candles or plug ins. We could barely spend time in the house it was so overwhelming. My throat hurt the rest of the day. You can light a candle for 30 mins then snuff them out so the large % of us who have bad reactions to these fake fragrances can occupy spaces too. We both wondered what was the odor these places were working so hard to cover up. The non toxic recomendations you made are great and the cooking of fruit slices and spices is a good way to go. ty!
When I did my diy reglazing tub and tile it's been 15 yrs and cost us under $100 still going strong I also painted out my wall paper you can't tell it was ever there haven't lifted no issues also for wall paper at the top close o the roof in ducks lol I put crown molding over it less work looks great😊
Great suggestions! So many in one video! I appreciate your honesty in admitting past decorating mistakes because we've all done it! Thank you for recognizing that most of us cannot afford major renovations. Your ideas on just making small, affordable changes are appreciated.
man I think I am pretty creative I'm an artist a writer , but then I watch videos like this and I am floored at how talented people and so incredibly creative some people are. amazing.
Hi Natalee, I think these ideas helped me sell our home before moving into a home we have now in the country. I have put my curtains up higher than the windows and so the edge of the curtains are at the edge of your window giving you more light. Our old place i hated to leave it because i had invested so much time and energy paying attention to details and really trying to finish the project i started instead of moving onto the next project and the next project until you are so over whelmed you don't want to do anything else. I do have something to add to that if you take a break between your projects and set yourself the goal of finishing that project then take a break of a couple of days or a couple of weeks i think that is what helped me in the long run to finish the projects i start. I have done tiling, plumbing electrical painting and decorating from start to finish. Home depot has Books you can buy on how to do electrical, plumbing tilework, painting, taking off popcorn ceiling yes even that(by the way i hate popcorn ceilings with a passion). My last house had them and when i left that house the only popcorn ceiling that remained was in my stairwell and that is because i don't like heights either. Its a lot of work but it is so rewarding when it was all done. I even made up faux 12x12 marble contact paper tiles in our powder room, I picked two different contact paper online they have the wide rolls or Dollar tree has it Walmart. (Disclaimer) i do not recommend it for a full bathroom or putting this technique over existing tiles if your going to do the marble or onyx route do it the proper way with the right stone actual stone. I made the wall behind my toilet look high end by doing this because water isn't running down the wall you can use tape for the gaps i used Gold tape to make it look like grout lines between them and i was impressed with the way it turned out. Natalee we are going to have to exchange emails so i can send you some of the work i have done. In my hugh barn that was originally used as a cow barn with pigs and goats and a couple of horses but the barn needs some TLC she needs a little love bless her she is 150 years old and she is still holding her own with post and beam construction i can easily have a dance floor or wedding venue on the upper level and put in a hay loft above that and still have room for an aviary for my chickens of the future and geese and maybe a couple of Pea fowl. (Peacock and Peahen). There were two pens in the barn that were just bars with really heavy gates on and i turned them into horse stalls by encasing the bars which are in concrete and they would not be easy to tear down without very large man with a very large hammer to know the heavens right out of it so i encased the bars in wood. Soft wood because of cribbing (which is Gnawing at the wood) horses can be poisoned by the oils from the wood if ingested so the horsey people will know what i am talking about) So i converted them into new stalls once the muck was removed. i cleaned the bars with a wire brush and i plan on painting the bars when it is warm enough in the spring. I have always loved home décor and i have been watching You tube for years for inspiration and i found it in you and Lisa Burningham. I don't think we would have sold our house so quickly as we did is i had not been watching you ladies for inspiration and the confidence to get it done right. So thank you ladies so much. I appreciate you so much.
Hi. Congratulations on your new forever home! Love your ideas. I have six sisters and, we’ve used many of your ideas. One of our favorites was your faux brick wall paneling idea. Two of my sisters have used that idea in their 1/2 baths and it turned out to be very special in both cases.
I like bright and airy colors in my spaces espically in small rooms, so white in the kitchen is a go for me. A portable fireplace is absolutely in my future. My granddaughter has one in her camper trailer and its awesome I've always loved them !!
Oh! I can go one better in the "mis-matched appliances" category. I was house shopping and looking at an older home with a black stove top, harvest gold wall ovens, an almond stove hood, a white refrigerator, a stainless steel sink, and a dishwasher with a decorative panel. I still can't believe I'm typing this and I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it with my own eyes - the panel was a print of giant sunflowers with gnomes peeking out from behind the flowers. 😂 A simple mid-grade appliance package from Costco would do so much for that poor kitchen! Love your ideas - I am SO glad you found a good functional medicine doctor and my prayers are with you. How on earth did you pick up so many heavy metals?
I absolutely love your ideas - you really get my wheels turning. I'm pretty handy, so I'm fairly comfortable with the "build-it" projects you show, and I'm immensely impressed with the way you just go-for-it. You are unstoppable and quite impressive, my dear. I can't wait to try more of the projects that you show.
Thats another thing. My baseboards are short cause the terracotta tile was done over the baseboards. I have tall baseboards everywhere else. I was thinking about just adding thin pieces of molding to make the baseboard look taller.
I have never enjoyed trendy decor styles/stuff (flip flops, red trucks, gnomes, farmhouse, etc...). Of course, I respect others choices, it's just not for me personally. Only 4 minutes in and I agree with everything you've suggested, which is why I've followed you for soooo long! Now, back to the rest of the content! 😜❤ 5:01
Yes ! Our home is our haven. I love our pent House apartment. We remodeled our master bedroom, master bath and small powdered room. I placed a beautiful wall paper in an accent wall, in back of the bed. It looks beautiful and I plan to die with it ! I also added a lovely one with birds in the small powdered room and a wall to wall mirror on the other wall and boy did it grow !! Thank you.
Whew! I made it to the end. I don’t generally watch the long video’s but because I admire your work and advise I have wanted to watch this. I had seen quite a lot of this but I really liked seeing it again. I live in an Independent Senior Facility so making changes are limited. I have found a few things to decorate with that will pick things up. Next I am going to try for some good paint. Maybe if I do it myself they will let me! Thanks for all the motivation you do! I would love to see the ladies finished or updated home. Thank you!
I love how down to earth you are; when I watch one of your videos, I almost feel like I'm listening to one of my girlfriends sharing tips with me. Thank you for all your tips and for encouraging women to get comfortable using tools, especially power tools.
NataLee, you're the best!! Loved these. I think the best thing that you have done is the fireplace and built-ins. Those were absolutely amazing. Take care beautiful lady and God bless you and yours. 💖💖
@designedtothenines How do you feel about 'Fandeliers'? I love the selection Home Depot and Lowe's carry, from modern to luxe. And the way the fan blades are minimized and/or hidden is genius.
Your suggestions always make a lot of sense. I'm not a fan of the whole "elevating" every 2 minutes or the super ornate style, but fact remains that you are one of the best at helping people to choose and make less mistakes. Watching you is always a pleasure 😊
I believe that the reason clear and clutter-free looks expensive is because it shouts, "I have plenty of storage!" What's more luxurious than storage? :)
I have been collecting crystal for many many years. I thrift all of it for incredibly cheap. I tried to sell it several different times but no one seems to get it like me. So happy to see someone validates me. Thanks. I love faux flowers too! I also love whimsical decorations and decorating with things that I know no one else has. These are usually things that I make myself.
I love all your ideas! Yes, I’m a plant-flower killer, too! My friend actually gave me a succulent telling me I couldn’t kill it. It lasted quite awhile. 😢
I'm feeling the same about cut crystal! I just recently pulled a cut crystal candy dish out of my storage room that I got as a wedding present 30+ years ago. It's displayed right now in my china hutch 😍
I love love love your decorating talents and abilities to make your home so beautiful and cozy. And speaking of that, I received my Athena Lady Jane Drill yesterday and it’s beautiful and feels so easy to use. I can’t wait to get a project going so I can use it. My husband laughed at me because I put it in my closet instead of out in my work space in the garage because I don’t want it to get dirty. 🤣😂
As for framed art work, think about seasonably switching them out rather than hung and done. Fresh paintings / fresh seasonal statements does elevate the home.
So many great ideas, and some so simple! I took your suggestion last year and raised my curtain rods up and they look fantastic, such an improvement! Thanks NataLee💕💕💕
Just found your channel, and I have to say, I LOVE and appreciate how real you are...how you offer budget friendly options and how to avoid costly mistakes (like painting countertops). We are moving house this year and am looking forward to implementing some of your ideas. Thank you!
For the outdoors area in my home (Arizona) I have two teakwood Adirondack chairs but they're old and tired looking. They're still natural but they are very dry. Can I sand those and then oil them to replenish? What grit(s) would I use and what kind of oil/moisturizer to treat the wood afterward? Thanks for the advice, Natalee, you're incredible!
If you want fancy light plates, spray paint them your base color, I did white, then after that dries spray your main color I did gold, then while it's wet cover it in lacquer spray paint. It'll crack and the base color shows through. Mine looked so good and I did it on accident 😂
All of those are fantastic ideas! We live in a parsonage, my husband is a Pastor! The home has not really been taken care of, so you have given a lot of great ideas! Thank you!❤️
I tell you you impress the hell out of me! I'm scared to do any of the stuff you do ! I'm scared to just paint. I just don't trust myself to do a good job. I don't trust myself to do measurements well . There's so many things I want to do to my house but I'm scared to touch any of it because I have no earthly idea of how or where to even start and I don't have the money to pay anybody else . Materials since covid are outrageous! You are incredible and I don't say that to too many people❤
That’s a great question they do have special rods where they have corner connectors I would still take them all the way up if you can or if it’s a smaller bay window you can dress the outside of the bay and treat it as if it was a normal window. Hope that helps. I know it’s kind of a short answer.
I have been checking out new dishwashers online as mine is just too old to clean well. I was going to get the same black that I have had for years, and which I like, but which a hard to find. But your video made me come to a dead halt. I also need a new refrigerator soon a new microwave and my cabinets - very nice solid wood - are from 1995 - maybe I need to rethink my entire kitchen and bring it up to date using some of your great ideas. This is a wonderful video which I stubbled upon accidentally. I am subscribing today. Thanks you so much
Every time I watch your channel I experience different emotions because you have such amazing ideas and are such a courageous woman that you inspire me. For over 40 years I have struggled. I am a single mom of four most of the time working two jobs while going back to school taking care of a child who's challenged daily with the disease and being a caregiver for my elderly parents. It was hard to make ends meet on my small wage and my son's health care as well as the welfare of my other children took center stage. I am grateful to have a home now I find myself at a point in my life where I'd like to make it a nice home someplace that I feel good in but again can't afford much and definitely can't hire help. Your ideas and your vast amount of knowledge, the fact that you share them with your patrons is a godsent. I am so thankful and grateful to you. I am going to look at the hardware store the next time I go in particular at the masonite. This could quite possibly be a great fix for my mom's bathroom walls and for some of the walls in my basement. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart you are truly appreciated
I have such admiration for you. What a hero you are to those who you have sacrificed for, taken care of and struggled for. I wish you absolutely nothing but the best and know you are more POWERful than you realize. You are doing great. I hope things get a little easier for you soon! 💕💕💕
We painted countertops years ago and we were very careful and followed all the steps. It was very resilient and many people complemented on how lovely they were. We did not have problems with chipping or any other problems. Like they say, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it….😂
👏🏾 👏🏾 girl, you have skills. I’m always impressed with people who have those skills. It makes me want to take a class in how to do these things. Like what you did with that railing…lovely…new sub 👍🏾
I wish I could get you to come and help me decorate my house. I’m so tired of looking at my house inside. It I can’t think the way you’re u do. I love your ideas. Thanks for sharing.
There is a designer named Christopher Lowell who I think you'd enjoy very much! Excellent teacher, cost effective, beautiful work! Maybe check out some of his videos.
NataLee, you are an artist and genius!!! What if you have 12 foot huge cathedral windows? Should you cover them with window treatments or leave them bare for re-selling the home? Any treatment seems to take away from the window; either make them shorter or more narrower. I really would appreciate your idea on it to attract buyers.
Just as a single candle can ignite a room, may your presence ignite the hearts of others, spreading the warmth and light of blessings in every interaction you have on this Thursday. Good morning. Have a Beautiful and Blessed day and weekend. See you next video. Stay safe and healthy. God Bless.
Mmmm I don't want my room to ignite. Light up, maybe. Ignite, no. That would be bad 🔥
This was so beautifully said. You are such a sweet soul. May you be blessed as well, in all areas of your life. Happy Tuesday ❤
Awe that's lovely though iddi think for a second you were going to give a candle safety notice😂
Good morning, 6 months later I am reading this on a Thursday and I appreciate your beautiful words💗
😂@@carmaela2689
I love the positive energy. You always look as flawless as your creations. Your beautiful heart radiates. So great to see positivity these days.
Smart
My home is 4 years old and backsplash is white subway tile yes timeless and love it with my white cabinets
Came right back didn’t it!😍👍
I just can't get over watching you handle those great big power tools like a PRO. That's amazing. Go girl.
😊 thank you and you are capable too!
I think as a designer it is great that you are able to do so much handiwork and can show it to us on this video. It adds to your professional credibility.
Every morning I am playing and throughout the day. So great for our souls.
What I love about your channel is that you will try to build anything - on your own!! Kudos to you!
I always believe in using what you like ,if it makes you happy ,do it ! Everyone has a different personality and it will be reflected in your home .You have a great personality and it radiates on your face and when you express yourself .Love your enthusiasm !
I can’t get over how you made your own fireplace! You go girl!
I wish I was young again with all these new ideas!

Thank you for saying this! These fragrances, including laundry scents, make many people ill.
YEAAASSSS, classic, timeless it never fades away. Like having a peacoat or white collared shirt and a black dress. ❤
I too LOVE the black and white checkered floor.
This video had me hooked from start to finish. Bless you Natalee.
So glad! 🙏🥰

@@jillgaddis3889 My guess? A retired bachelor decorated that kitchen! 😉
Every day they are spraying the air we breathe with metals and chemicals. Not to mention the food we are eating with Apeel coating.

Love that fireplace you created ! It looks beautiful!
I am a Real Estate Agent in The Bahamas and love your ideas, not only for myself but my clients as well. Your designs work well in the tropics too.
I really like a lot of your ideas as I am on a tight budget and some of your ideas I have been wanting to do so I will look deeper onto it . Thankyou
Wow! i never knew the curtain tips!! Thank you! I can immediately visualize how this will make my rooms feel improved!

Before you even said anything about a fireplace, I was already admiring your background with your fireplace. Great job! 🤩
Oh thank you!

Dang! you go girl!!!!! well done
U always amaze me id love to have my house all finished and beautiful i love your ideas
Thank you for all the great ideas and how down to earth you are as you explain them to us. ❤
Would love to see a video on house plant trees…
This video was great!
Wonderful!🥰
Girl, you must be so proud of yourself.. Awesome
I really like the portable fireplace behind you. Can you please share the link, or where I can purchase?
I have never enjoyed trendy decor styles/stuff (flip flops, red trucks, gnomes, farmhouse, etc...). Of course, I respect others choices, it's just not for me personally. Only 4 minutes in and I agree with everything you've suggested, which is why I've followed you for soooo long! Now, back to the rest of the content! 😜❤
I love the more in depth video. Both versions are great but I love this video version the best.
You’re so talented! Thanks for sharing so many great ideas! 💕
Just found you- and girl! I am IMPRESSED! The fireplace? You GO!
You’re talented, I could NEVER do these ideas on my own
Hi....Any videos on preparations before putting the home up for sale?
Thank you so much for all the tips and tricks.
I am looking forward to seeing one about your forever home!
Hugs
I just wish I had time to do many updates! Love the video ❤
All of those are fantastic ideas! We live in a parsonage, my husband is a Pastor! The home has not really been taken care of, so you have given a lot of great ideas! Thank you!❤️
Great video Natalie. Love your channel. I’ve learned so much from you .. thank you! All the best to you and your family. 🥰
I stumbled on your channel and I really liked your contents and ideas
Thank you and the very best to you
Welcome aboard! Thanks for your kind words.💕
I have always loved cut crystal. I have several crystal vases
You are incredible and I don't say that to too many people❤
Once again; thanks for sharing thoughts n tips.
I am upgrading to a new bed. I would love to have where I can purchase/ order your white bed you were sitting on.
Great video ❤
Would you consider sharing how to combine greys and beige/browns? I know it can be done but also that it can be tricky. 🙂
I just stumbled upon this video, because RUclips recommended it. Awesome tips, and you are EXTREMELY easy on the eyes!! 😊😊😊
Great tips. I always loved cut crystal and have a lot of vintage pieces from family ❤
Love your videos! Love your new house! Can u please tell me where u got the Lampost in your Dinning room?
You are just awesome!
You are!
Thank you for this great video❤
You're amazingly talented! Thank you for your tips.
How do you do window treatments for a bay window?
That’s a great question they do have special rods where they have corner connectors I would still take them all the way up if you can or if it’s a smaller bay window you can dress the outside of the bay and treat it as if it was a normal window. Hope that helps. I know it’s kind of a short answer.
@@designedtothenines ❤️❤️❤️ you’re the best!!!!!
So nice. Watched and enjoyed in three instalments !!
Can I ask, what did you use for cleaning your cabinet doors?
The fireplace is really beautiful
We painted countertops years ago and we were very careful and followed all the steps. It was very resilient and many people complemented on how lovely they were. We did not have problems with chipping or any other problems. Like they say, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it….😂
What kind of paint did you use?
I have seen and loved the board and batten walls, but is it labor intensive to keep clean?
👏🏾 👏🏾 girl, you have skills. I’m always impressed with people who have those skills.
It makes me want to take a class in how to do these things. Like what you did with that railing…lovely…new sub 👍🏾
love, love, love all your tips
Thia video is exceptionally good! Best one of its kind!!!
I love your suggestions, where in Florida are you?
